    Financial Market Integration of South Asian Countries: Panel data Analysis

    According to Frankel (1992) in order to find financial integration from Feldstein Horoika (FH, 1980) model, the real interest parity must hold. This paper estimates the degree of financial market integration of South Asian countries i.e. Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal with both the techniques. The study finds some degree of integration with FH model has which increased after 1990s, post liberalization period. Furthermore, Panel Unit Root techniques i.e. LLC, IPS and Hadri has been used to estimate the real interest rate differentials (RIDs) of South Asian countries are found to be stationary with USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Sweden, Netherland, Australia, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore, China and Japan. The empirical evidence of integration with both the techniques in my study is unique in the literature.     Statistical mechanics of strings with Y-junctions

    We investigate the Hagedorn transitions of string networks with Y-junctions as may occur, for example, with (p,q) cosmic superstrings. In a simplified model with three different types of string, the partition function reduces to three generalised coupled XY models. We calculate the phase diagram and show that, as the system is heated, the lightest strings first undergo the Hagedorn transition despite the junctions. There is then a second, higher, critical temperature above which infinite strings of all tensions, and junctions, exist. Conversely, on cooling to low temperatures, only the lightest strings remain, but they collapse into small loops

    Synthesis and Structures of Co Bis-Trifluoromethylpyrazolate Complexes

    Reactions of Co(PMe3)(3)Cl or CoCl2 with 3,5-(CF3)(2)-PzNa in hexane give Co(PMe3)(3)(3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz) (1) and Co(PMe3)(3)(3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz)(2) (2) respectively (3,5-(CF3)(2)-PzNa = sodium bis-trifluoromethylpyrazolate). Reaction of (3,5-(CF3)(2)-PzH) with Co(PMe3)(4) produces the unusual complex [cis-Co(PMe3)(4)H-2][Co(PMe3)(3,5-( CF3)(2)-Pz)(3)] (3) which formally contains a [Co(III)](+)[Co(II)](-) complex ion pair. Reaction of 3,5-(CF3)(2)-PzLi with an oxygenated suspension of CoCl2 and 3 equivalents of PMe3 gives (3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz)(2)Co(mu-3,5-(CF3)(2)Pz)(mu-OPMe3)Li(OPMe3)(2) (4), while 2 reacts with LiOH to give [(PMe3)Co(mu-3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz)(2)(mu(3)-OH)Li](2) (5). Both 2 and 3 react with O-2 in toluene solution to give Co(OPMe3)(2)(3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz)(2) (6).     Spontaneous Fluxoid Formation in Superconducting Loops

    We report on the first experimental verification of the Zurek-Kibble scenario in an isolated superconducting ring over a wide parameter range. The probability of creating a single flux quantum spontaneously during the fast normal-superconducting phase transition of a wide Nb loop clearly follows an allometric dependence on the quenching time τQ\tau_{Q}, as one would expect if the transition took place as fast as causality permits. However, the observed Zurek-Kibble scaling exponent σ=0.62±0.15\sigma = 0.62\pm0.15 is two times larger than anticipated for large loops. Assuming Gaussian winding number densities we show that this doubling is well-founded for small annuli.Comment: 10 pages, 2 figures, submitted to Phys. Rev. Lett

    On the Path-Integral Derivation of the Anomaly for the Hermitian Equivalent of the Complex PTPT-Symmetric Quartic Hamiltonian

    It can be shown using operator techniques that the non-Hermitian PTPT-symmetric quantum mechanical Hamiltonian with a "wrong-sign" quartic potential gx4-gx^4 is equivalent to a Hermitian Hamiltonian with a positive quartic potential together with a linear term. A naive derivation of the same result in the path-integral approach misses this linear term. In a recent paper by Bender et al. it was pointed out that this term was in the nature of a parity anomaly and a more careful, discretized treatment of the path integral appeared to reproduce it successfully. However, on re-examination of this derivation we find that a yet more careful treatment is necessary, keeping terms that were ignored in that paper. An alternative, much simpler derivation is given using the additional potential that has been shown to appear whenever a change of variables to curvilinear coordinates is made in a functional integral.Comment: LaTeX, 12 pages, no figure

    Rhodium Pyrazolate Complexes as Potential CVD Precursors

    Reaction of 3,5-(CF3)(2)PzLi with [Rh(mu-Cl)(eta(2)-C2H4)(2)](2) or [Rh(mu-Cl)(PMe3)(2)](2) in Et2O gave the dinuclear complexes [Rh(eta(2)-C2H4)(2)(mu-3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz)](2) (1) and [Rh-2(mu-Cl)(mu-3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz) (PMe3)(4)] (2) respectively (3,5-(CF3)(2)Pz = bis-trifluoromethyl pyrazolate). Reaction of PMe3 with [Rh(COD)(mu-3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz)](2) in toluene gave [Rh(3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz)(PMe3)(3)] (3). Reaction of 1 and 3 in toluene (1 : 4) gave moderate yields of the dinuclear complex [Rh(PMe3)(2)(mu-3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz)](2) (4). Reaction of 3,5-(CF3)(2)PzLi with [Rh(PMe3)(4)]Cl in Et2O gave the ionic complex [Rh(PMe3)(4)][3,5-(CF3)(2)-Pz] (5). Two of the complexes, 1 and 3, were studied for use as CVD precursors. Polycrystalline thin films of rhodium (fcc-Rh) and metastable-amorphous films of rhodium phosphide (Rh2P) were grown from 1 and 3 respectively at 170 and 130 degrees C, 0.3 mmHg in a hot wall reactor using Ar as the carrier gas (5 cc min(-1)).     Vocational Profile of Resort Recreation Professionals Based on the 16PF

    Previous research concerning the resort recreation profession have focused on identifying job responsibilities, necessary skills and knowledge (2, 7, 17). while criterion based information is beneficial it overlooks personality, a fundamental and powerful vocational determinant. The current study sampled resort members of the Resort and Commercial Recreation Association (N = 224). Using the Sixteen Personality Factor Questionnaire (16PF), vocational profiles for male and female resort recreation professionals were identified. Discriminant analysis between Gender and Scores on the 16PF correctly predicted 76% of the overall cases. Since personality is basically stable across an adult\u27s lifetime, and vocational interests are strongly related to personality, the development of a vocational profile for resort recreation professionals may assist in career counseling and professional development

    Study of chiral symmetry restoration in linear and nonlinear O(N) models using the auxiliary field method

    We consider the O(N) linear {\sigma} model and introduce an auxiliary field to eliminate the scalar self-interaction. Using a suitable limiting process this model can be continuously transformed into the nonlinear version of the O(N) model. We demonstrate that, up to two-loop order in the CJT formalism, the effective potential of the model with auxiliary field is identical to the one of the standard O(N) linear {\sigma} model, if the auxiliary field is eliminated using the stationary values for the corresponding one- and two-point functions. We numerically compute the chiral condensate and the {\sigma}- and {\pi}-meson masses at nonzero temperature in the one-loop approximation of the CJT formalism. The order of the chiral phase transition depends sensitively on the choice of the renormalization scheme. In the linear version of the model and for explicitly broken chiral symmetry, it turns from crossover to first order as the mass of the {\sigma} particle increases. In the nonlinear case, the order of the phase transition turns out to be of first order.
