Characterization of exothermic brazing components Skylab experiment M552

Information developed to characterize flight and ground based samples from the Exothermic Brazing Experiment is detailed. Included is information developed from metallographic observation, chemical analysis, and measurements of component dimensions. Comparisons of the flight and ground based specimens showed that good quality brazes were obtained. Effects of the zero gravity processing were noted on liquid metal flow and braze alloy-base metal reactions. Unusual metallurgical structures exhibited in the nickel brazes made in Skylab were the result of composition variations apparently related to the time-temperature cycle characteristic of this braze

The Trouble with Postmodern Zeal

I have always admired the adversarial advocacy with which Professor Carrie Menkel-Meadow attacks adversarial advocacy. Also, given her postmodern skepticism that there can be any certainty in truth, I respect her certainty about her own version of truth. She exhibits both of these qualities in her Article, The Trouble with the Adversary System in a Postmodern, Multicultural World. I premise my own system of lawyers\u27 ethics on individual dignity and autonomy. Accordingly, I believe that people should be able to choose how to resolve their disputes. It is possible, therefore, that I have no disagreement with Professor Menkel-Meadow. If she means only that parties to a dispute should be allowed to use whatever nonviolent means they choose, we are in complete accord. In fact, though, such choice is widely available. I assume, therefore, that Professor Menkel-Meadow calls for displacement of the adversary system with some institutionalized alternative(s)

A Civil Libertarian Looks at Securities Regulation

Since I am a stranger to this group and, indeed, to this area of the law, it seems appropriate that I begin by introducing myself and indicating the perspective-from which I view securities regulation. I suppose I would be characterized as an old-fashioned New Deal Democrat. I therefore approach the area of securities regulation with a great deal of sympathy with the rights of the little guy and a good deal less sympathy with those whom the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Ray Garret:, Jr., recently referred to as robber barons, princes of privilege, [and] malefactors of great wealth. \u27 Moreover, as a civil libertarian, I have been primarily concerned with free speech, equal protection, and the due process rights of criminal defendants, with particular regard to indigents. I think it is fair to say, therefore, that I began my inquiry into securities regulation with a minimum of compassion for those who are regulated.
