    Signatures of Resonant Super-Partner Production with Charged-Current Decays

    Hadron collider signatures of new physics are investigated in which a primary resonance is produced that decays to a secondary resonance by emitting a W-boson, with the secondary resonance decaying to two jets. This topology can arise in supersymmetric theories with R-parity violation where the lightest supersymmetric particles are either a pair of squarks, or a slepton - sneutrino pair. The resulting signal can have a cross section consistent with the Wjj observation reported by the CDF collaboration, while remaining consistent with earlier constraints. Other observables that can be used to confirm this scenario include a significant charge asymmetry in the same channel at the LHC. With strongly interacting resonances such as squarks, pair production topologies additionally give rise to 4 jet and WW + 4 jet signatures, each with two equal-mass dijet resonances within the 4 jets.Comment: Note added for recent developments concerning the Wjj final state.     AbstractIn this paper, we prove that a simple system for a subsystem Ψ of the complex root system Φ can always be chosen as a subset of the positive system Φ+of Φ. Furthermore, we show that a set of distinguished coset representatives can be found for every reflection subgroup of the complex reflection groups. The corresponding results for real crystallographic root systems and their reflection groups (i.e., Weyl groups) are well known (see [9])

    Ωcγ→Ωc∗\Omega_c \gamma \rightarrow\Omega_c^\ast transition in lattice QCD

    We study the electromagnetic Ωcγ→Ωc∗\Omega_c \gamma \rightarrow\Omega_c^\ast transition in 2+1 flavor lattice QCD, which gives access to the dominant decay mode of Ωc∗\Omega_c^\ast baryon. The magnetic dipole and the electric quadrupole transition form factors are computed. The magnetic dipole form factor is found to be mainly determined by the strange quark and the electric quadrupole form factor to be negligibly small, in consistency with the quark model.     Building Morphological Chains for Agglutinative Languages

    In this paper, we build morphological chains for agglutinative languages by using a log-linear model for the morphological segmentation task. The model is based on the unsupervised morphological segmentation system called MorphoChains. We extend MorphoChains log linear model by expanding the candidate space recursively to cover more split points for agglutinative languages such as Turkish, whereas in the original model candidates are generated by considering only binary segmentation of each word. The results show that we improve the state-of-art Turkish scores by 12% having a F-measure of 72% and we improve the English scores by 3% having a F-measure of 74%. Eventually, the system outperforms both MorphoChains and other well-known unsupervised morphological segmentation systems. The results indicate that candidate generation plays an important role in such an unsupervised log-linear model that is learned using contrastive estimation with negative samples.Comment: 10 pages, accepted and presented at the CICLing 2017 (18th International Conference on Intelligent Text Processing and Computational Linguistics

    Spheres and Prolate and Oblate Ellipsoids from an Analytical Solution of Spontaneous Curvature Fluid Membrane Model

    An analytic solution for Helfrich spontaneous curvature membrane model (H. Naito, M.Okuda and Ou-Yang Zhong-Can, Phys. Rev. E {\bf 48}, 2304 (1993); {\bf 54}, 2816 (1996)), which has a conspicuous feature of representing the circular biconcave shape, is studied. Results show that the solution in fact describes a family of shapes, which can be classified as: i) the flat plane (trivial case), ii) the sphere, iii) the prolate ellipsoid, iv) the capped cylinder, v) the oblate ellipsoid, vi) the circular biconcave shape, vii) the self-intersecting inverted circular biconcave shape, and viii) the self-intersecting nodoidlike cylinder. Among the closed shapes (ii)-(vii), a circular biconcave shape is the one with the minimum of local curvature energy.Comment: 11 pages, 11 figures. Phys. Rev. E (to appear in Sept. 1999

    Effect of various levels of dietary whole cottonseed on blood parameters and performance of Awassi lambs under heat stress

    This study was carried out to determine the effect of whole cottonseed (WCS) supplementation on finishing performance and blood parameters of Awassi lambs under heat stress. The compositions of diets for the various treatments were i) control: concentrate without WCS plus 15% wheat straw; ii) 8.5% WCS, 76.5% concentrate and 15% wheat straw; and iii) 17% WCS, 68% concentrate plus 15% wheat straw. Twenty seven male Awassi lambs (4 - 5 months old) were allotted to three dietary treatments in equal numbers for each diet in a completely randomized design. Following 15 days of diet adaptation, lambs were fed the experimental diets ad libitum for 56 days. According to the finishing trial, average daily gain (ADG), feed intake (FI), dry matter intake (DMI), feed efficiency and water consumption were not affected by the inclusion of WCS. Only numerical increment of daily gain, FI and DMI was observed in the 8.5% WCS group. Supplementation of WCS did not affect blood glucose, urea, total protein, albumin and potassium levels, but blood cholesterol level was increased. Changes in scrotal circumference were observed with supplementation of 17% WCS. As a result, WCS can replace concentrate up to 8.5% of diet without negative effects on finishing performance of Awassi lambs under heat stress conditions.Keywords: Sheep, finishing, efficiency, gain, oil see
