Absurdisme Albert Camus dalam serial drama My Liberation Notes

    Get PDF
Absurdisme kemudian menjadi salah satu way of Life bagi orang-orang yang merasakan keabsurdan dalam hidupnya.

Critical Reviews of Causal Patch Measure over the Multiverse

In this talk, the causal patch measure based on black hole complementarity is critically reviewed. By noticing the similarities between the causal structure of an inflationary dS space and that of a black hole, we have considered the complementarity principle between the inside and the outside of the causal horizon as an attractive way to count the inflationary multiverse. Even though the causal patch measure relieves the Boltzmann brain problem and stresses physical reality based on observations, it could be challenged by the construction of counterexamples, both on regular black holes and charged black holes, to black hole complementarity.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures; A proceeding for CosPA2008. Radial Band Structure of Electrons in Liquid Metals

The electronic band structure of a liquid metal was investigated by measuring precisely the evolution of angle-resolved photoelectron spectra during the melting of a Pb monolayer on a Si(111) surface. We found that the liquid monolayer exhibits a free-electron-like band and it undergoes a coherent radial scattering, imposed by the radial correlation of constituent atoms, to form a characteristic secondary hole band. This unique double radial bands and their gradual evolution during melting can be quantitatively reproduced, including detailed spectral intensity profiles, with our radial scattering model based on a theoretical prediction of 1962. Our result establishes the radial band structure as a key concept for describing the nature of electrons in strongly disordered states of matter.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, accepted to Physical Review Letter

Phase transition of the Si(111)-4x1-In surface reconstruction investigated by electron transport measurements

We measure the electron conductivity of the surface states and the subsurface space charge layer originating from the Si(111)-4x1-In reconstruction as a function of temperature. The conductivity of the surface states drops sharply around 130 K with decreasing temperature, revealing a metal-insulator phase transition of the surface reconstruction. In contrast, the influence of the phase transition on the conductivity of the space charge layer is limited to temperatures above 60 K. This means that the surface Fermi level remains strongly pinned despite the phase transition, indicating the presence of free carriers in the surface states down to rather low temperatures.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures, submitted to Surface Scienc

Structural models for the Si(553)-Au atomic chain reconstruction

Recent photoemission experiments on the Si(553)-Au reconstruction show a one-dimensional band with a peculiar ~1/4 filling. This band could provide an opportunity for observing large spin-charge separation if electron-electron interactions could be increased. To this end, it is necessary to understand in detail the origin of this surface band. A first step is the determination of the structure of the reconstruction. We present here a study of several structural models using first-principles density functional calculations. Our models are based on a plausible analogy with the similar and better known Si(557)-Au surface, and compared against the sole structure proposed to date for the Si(553)-Au system [Crain JN et al., 2004 Phys. Rev. B 69 125401 ]. Results for the energetics and the band structures are given. Lines for the future investigation are also sketched

Influence of metal ions on bioremediation activity of protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase from Stenotrophomonas maltophilia KB2

The aim of this paper was to describe the effect of various metal ions on the activity of protocatechuate 3,4- dioxygenase from Stenotrophomonas maltophilia KB2. We also compared activity of different dioxygenases isolated from this strain, in the presence of metal ions, after induction by various aromatic compounds. S. maltophilia KB2 degraded 13 mM 3,4-dihydroxybenzoate, 10 mM benzoic acid and 12 mM phenol within 24 h of incubation. In the presence of dihydroxybenzoate and benzoate, the activity of protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase and catechol 1,2-dioxygenase was observed. Although Fe3?, Cu2 ?, Zn2?, Co2 ?, Al3 ?, Cd2 ?, Ni2 ? and Mn2? ions caused 20–80 % inhibition of protocatechuate 3,4-dioxygenase activity, the above-mentioned metal ions (with the exception of Ni2?) inhibited catechol 1,2-dioxygenase to a lesser extent or even activate the enzyme. Retaining activity of at least one of three dioxygenases from strain KB2 in the presence of metal ions makes it an ideal bacterium for bioremediation of contaminated areas

    Impact ionization coefficients in Si1−xGex

We have measured the electron and hole impact ionization coefficients in Si1−xGex alloys. Carrier multiplication measurements were made on relaxed Si1−xGex/Si diodes grown by gas source molecular beam epitaxy. The hole to electron impact ionization coefficient ratio, β/α, varies from 0.3 to 4 in the composition range of x=0.08–1.0. © 1995 American Institute of Physics.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/69815/2/APPLAB-66-2-204-1.pd
