The influence of digital capabilities on customer orientation of service employees (COSE) and its consequences on customer satisfaction and e-WOM within Family Businesses

Customer relations have become a key matter in services businesses daily activities. Due to the intangibility of services, the employee service performance is what customers perceive as the reflection of the service quality. Due to this fact, the customer orientation of front-line employees, primarily in services industry, plays a crucial role in getting positives/negatives results with regards to customer satisfaction. Customer orientation of service employees (COSE) is a key concept within marketing literature. It has been demonstrated by previous authors the positives effects that has in customer satisfaction and customer retention (Hennig-Thurau. 2004: Morales and Ruiz-Alba, 2018)

This study evaluates the use of large amounts of fine powders (fillers) derived from a Colombian volcanic material into the production of self-compacting concrete (SCC) for lower strength applications. The effects on SCC properties were studied with the incorporation of up to 50% of volcanic material of Tolima (MVT) as a partial substitute of the total weight of Portland cement. The workability was determined through slump flow, V-funnel, and L-box test. The compressive strength results were analyzed statistically by MINITAB. These demonstrated that 30% (by total weight of cementitious material) was the maximum allowable percentage of MVT to be used in the production of SCCs. Based on this, mechanical and permeability properties of SCC MVT 30% were evaluated at 28, 90 y 360 curing days. SCC MVT 30% exhibited compressive strength of 21 and 27 MPa after 28 and 360 days of curing, respectively.

    International Management of Customer Orientation

This study investigates the role of customer orientation of service employees (COSE) and its influence on customer satisfaction and on electronic word of mouth (e-WOM), with a focus on international management. An empirical study was conducted amongst hotel customers with a final valid sample of 265 respondents. Digital capabilities have been included in the COSE model for the first time. Findings indicate that digital capabilities have a positive influence on customer satisfaction that is mediated by COSE. This study has also compared differences between international and national firms and also considered family businesses and non-family businesses. Results show that international hotels have a higher level of COSE than national hotels, mainly due to the technical skills of the employees, and the presence of a higher level of COSE in family businesses (FBs) rather than in non-family businesses (NFBs). Some contributions to academia and to international management have been discussed

This article presents the usefulness of the mobile device as a tool that can support the teaching of the English language in the Costa Rican public system. This paper aims on the use of the mobile phone not only as a source of information, but also as a didactic resource to integrate cooperative learning, self-autonomy, authenticity, creativity and critical thinking. Departing from the current governmental initiatives to implement technological tools in the English class, this work offers an integrative and innovative methodology for the English teacher in the public sector. This methodology focuses on the model of Mobile Assisted Language Learning (MALL) that intends to adjust and integrate to the available technological tools, classroom settings and students’ needs and interest.

Cooperative CPU, GPU, and FPGA heterogeneous execution with EngineCL

Heterogeneous systems are the core architecture of most of the high-performance computing nodes, due to their excellent performance and energy efficiency. However, a key challenge that remains is programmability, specifically, releasing the programmer from the burden of managing data and devices with different architectures. To this end, we extend EngineCL to support FPGA devices. Based on OpenCL, EngineCL is a high-level framework providing load balancing among devices. Our proposal fully integrates FPGAs into the framework, enabling effective cooperation between CPU, GPU, and FPGA. With command overlapping and judicious data management, our work improves performance by up to 96% compared with single-device execution and delivers energy-delay gains of up to 37%. In addition, adopting FPGAs does not require programmers to make big changes in their applications because the extensions do not modify the user-facing interface of EngineCL
