Effect of rotation in lubrication problems: Existence of more fundamental solutions

    Get PDF
AbstractA generalized Reynolds equation is derived in the present paper by taking into account the effect of rotation in lubrication problems. The existence of certain fundamental solutions is shown in this extended framework which is not allowed in the classical Reynolds theory. Results concerning the pressure and the load capacity of the resulting bearing system are obtained and interpreted in the respective cases when the film thickness is a linear or an exponential functions of the coordinate along the bearing length. One of the important results is that while the load capacity decreases with increasing values of α for an exponentially inclined slider in the classical Reynolds theory, it increases with increasing values of α in the present context

Software-based Solution for Analysis and Decoding of FSK-2 Modulated, Baudot-coded Signals

    Get PDF
In the present-day scenario, digital communication has become predominant choice overanalog communication worldwide. Digital modulation schemes form the main block of the digitalcommunication. Among these, frequency shift keying (FSK-2) is a widely used technique employedfor Baudot-coded english text transmission. A Baudot-coded-FSK-2 modulated signal wassimulated corresponding to an english text file. A technique has been developed for its analysisand decoding in the MATLAB environment. This technique does the signal analysis, its parameterextraction, and then digital demodulation, to retrieve its corresponding composite bit-stream. Anefficient method for edge detection using the number of zero-crossings has been devised andimplemented successfully. From the composite bit-stream, overhead bits were removed anddecoding was performed to get back the text output

AbstractObjectiveTo determine use of class and type of cardioprotective pharmacological agents in patients with stable coronary heart disease (CHD) we performed a prescription audit.MethodsA cross sectional survey was conducted in major districts of Rajasthan in years 2008–09. We evaluated prescription for classes (anti-platelets, β-blockers, angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB), calcium channel blockers (CCB) and statins) and specific pharmacological agents at clinics of physicians in tertiary (n = 18), secondary (n = 69) and primary care (n = 43). Descriptive statistics are reported.ResultsPrescriptions of 2290 stable CHD patients were audited. Anti-platelet use was in 2031 (88.7%), β-blockers 1494 (65.2%), ACE inhibitors 1196 (52.2%), ARBs 712 (31.1%), ACE inhibitors – ARB combinations 19 (0.8%), either ACE inhibitors or ARBs 1908 (83.3%), CCBs 1023 (44.7%), statins 1457 (63.6%) and other lipid lowering agents in 170 (7.4%). Among anti-platelets aspirin–clopidogrel combination was used in 88.5%. Top three molecules in β-blockers were atenolol (37.8%), metoprolol (26.4%) and carvedilol (11.9%); ACE inhibitors ramipril (42.1%), lisinopril (20.3%) and perindopril (10.9%); ARB's losartan (47.7%), valsartan (22.3%) and telmisartan (14.9%); CCBs amlodipine (46.7%), diltiazem (29.1%) and verapamil (9.5%) and statins were atorvastatin (49.8%), simvastatin (28.9%) and rosuvastatin (18.3%). Use of metoprolol, ramipril, valsartan, diltiazem and atorvastatin was more at tertiary care, and atenolol, lisinopril, losartan, amlodipine and simvasatin in primary care (p < 0.01).ConclusionsThere is low use of β-blockers, ACE inhibitors, ARBs and statins in stable CHD patients among physicians in Rajasthan. Significant differences in use of specific molecules at primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare are observed

In this paper, an analytical modeling is presentated to describe the channel noise in GME SGT/CGT MOSFET, based on explicit functions of MOSFETs geometry and biasing conditions for all channel length down to deep submicron and is verified with the experimental data. Results shows the impact of various parameters such as gate bias, drain bias, channel length ,device diameter and gate material work function difference on drain current noise spectral density of the device reflecting its applicability for circuit design applications

Two Dimensional Modeling of III-V Heterojunction Gate All Around Tunnel Field Effect Transistor

    Get PDF
Tunnel Field Effect Transistor is one of the extensively researched semiconductor devices, which has captured attention over the conventional Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor. This device, due to its varied advantages, is considered in applications where devices are scaled down to deep submicron level. Like MOSFETs, many geometries of TFETs have been studied and analyzed in the past few years. This work, presents a two dimensional analytical model for a III-V Heterojunction Surrounding Gate Tunneling Field Effect Transistor. 2-D Poisson’s equation in cylindrical coordinates has been solved to derive the expression of Surface Potential and threshold voltage of the device. A broken gap GaSb/InAs heterostructure has been considered in this work. Variation of potential profiles are shown with different gate and drain biases, by varying radius of the transistor, and different gate metals. Also, variation of threshold voltage is shown with respect to channel length and radius of the nanowire

This work presents simulation study and analysis of nanoscale III-V Heterojunction Gate All Around Tunnel Field Effect Transistor, along with the extraction of small signal parameters of the device. Transfer characteristics and output characteristics of the device were observed. The device is simulated for extraction of small signal parameters such as transconductance, gate-source capacitance, gate-drain capacitance, by varying doping concentration of drain region and channel length. Cut-off frequency of the device is also obtained. The results reported agree well with the data available in literature

On the Performance of Pivoted Curved Slider Bearings: Rabinowitsch Fluid Model

    Get PDF
The present theoretical analysis is to investigate the effect of nonNewtonian Pseudoplastic & Dilatant lubricants (lubricant blended with viscosity index improver)–Rabinowitsch fluid model on the dynamic stiffness and damping characteristics of pivoted curved slider bearings. The modified Reynolds equation has been obtained for steady and damping states of the bearing. To analyze the steady state characteristics and dynamic characteristics, small perturbation theory has been adopted. The results for the steady state bearing performance characteristics (steady state film pressure, load carrying capacity and centre of pressure) as well as dynamic stiffness and damping characteristics have been calculated numerically for various values of viscosity index improver using Mathematical 7.0 and it is concluded that these characteristics vary significantly with the non-Newtonian behavior of the fluid consistent with the real nature of the problem

Interaction of artesunate with β-cyclodextrin: Characterization, thermodynamic parameters, molecular modeling, effect of PEG on complexation and antimalarial activity

    Get PDF
AbstractInclusion of artesunate in the cavity of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) as well as its methyl and hydroxypropyl derivatives was investigated experimentally and by molecular modeling studies. The effect of PEG on the inclusion was also studied. A 1:1 stoichiometry was indicated by phase-solubility studies both in the presence and absence of PEG and suggested by the mass spectrometry. The mode of inclusion was supported by 2D NMR and results were further verified by docking studies utilizing Fast Rigid Exhaustive Docking acronym. The thermodynamic parameters were determined for both binary and ternary systems using solution calorimetry and were found to be best for the methyl-β-cyclodextrin (Me-β-CD) system. However, the presence of PEG improves the complexation ability as evident from elevation in the numerical value of the stability constant (K). Solubility and dissolution profile of binary complex is enhanced in the presence of PEG, which is approximately at par with drug Me-β-CD complexes. In vivo studies showed 100% survivability in artesunate–Me-β-CD complexes
