Abstract It is my intention through this thesis to demonstrate the journey taken for the costume design process of The Royal Family written by George S. Kauffman, A Swine Palace Production, presented in celebration of the reopening of the Claude L. Shaver Theatre located in the Music and Dramatic Arts building on the campus of Louisiana State University. In turn, establishing that the abundance of practical experience as well as the technical and design courses undergone throughout my graduate career here at Louisiana State University, have supplied me with the knowledge and skills required in the professional field of Costume Design

It\u27s a privilege to be granted a chance tq address a gathering like this: a room full of people whose Quaker way of life and thought are so very central to their work that they spend time and resources to get together and talk about it. We\u27ve been blessed with a common gift, and it isn\u27t a small one. That said, I suspect I\u27m not the only one here who sometimes wonders how, or even if, what I do matters. Yet even among you, my group of fellow self-doubters, I must lobby for my own elevated position: as a poet and a teacher of poetry writing, I have the privilege of practicing the discipline most often used to exemplify the frivolous. Rubber Indusrty of West Africa

The rubber industry began in West Africa by native exploitation of the wild rubber sources found in the tropical rain forests. The best quality of rubber was obtained from the tree, Funtumia elastica Stapf. and the vines Landolphia ovariensis Beauv. and Clitandra cymulosa Benth. The tapping methods were usually destructive and eventually new areas were difficult to find. As plantations of Manihot glaziovii Muell. Arg., the para rubber tree, and Hevea brasiliensis (H. B. K.) Muell. Arg., the para rubber tree, were established the wild rubber became less important. The yields from Manihot proved to be much lower than Hevea and the latter became the only important plantation rubber tree in West Africa. The discovery of rubber and the interesting story of how the rubber tree finally reached Africa is worth reviewing

The Effect of Instructional Methods (Lecture-Discussion versus Group Discussion) and Teaching Talent on Teacher Trainees Student Learning Outcomes

The aim of this study is to examine difference in the effect of instructional methods (lecture-discussion versus group discussion) and teaching talent on theacher trainees student learning outcomes. It was conducted by a quasi-experimental design using the factorialized (2 x 2) version of the nonequivalent control group design. The subjects were 168 students as teachers trainees from eight study programs in Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, University of Jember, Indonesia. Data collected were analyzed by two-way Analysis of Variances (ANOVA). Results of the study showed that (1) the learning outcomes of students taught by the lecture-discussion method were different from those of students taught by the group discussion method with F test of 111.864, significant at p<.05 and the relatively strong effect size of .406. The group discussion method was proven to be more effective in improving the student learning outcomes than the lecture-discussion method; (2) the difference in teaching talent affected difference in student learning outcomes with F test of 128.708, significant at p <.05 and the relatively strong effect size of .440. Students with higher teaching talent tended to achieve higher learning outcomes among both groups of students taught using either lecture-discussion or group discussion methods. However, students with lower teaching talent tended to achieve lower learning outcomes among both groups of students taught using either lecture-discussion or group discussion methods; (3) the interaction of lecture-discussion vs group discussion methods and teaching talent significantly affected student learning outcomes with F test of 91.713, significant at p<.05 and the relatively strong effect size of .359.
