Exploring the relationship between L2 language proficiency, language learning strategies, and self-efficacy: evidence from chilean classrooms

[EN] Language learning strategy (LLS) use and L2 self-efficacy (SE) have been regarded as crucial for the development oflearners of a second language (Rose et al., 2018). Although the relationship between these two variables has been addressed in the literature, scant attention has been given to how L2 language proficiency is related to both constructs in EFL contexts. Therefore, the present quantitative study gathered questionnaire data to characterize the relationship between the LLSs, SE perceptions, and L2 language proficiency of 47 adult EFL learners at a Chilean university. Results revealed significant strong correlations between speaking SE and cognitive strategies, as well as between writing SE and memory strategies. Weak but significant correlations were found between language proficiency and receptive skills (listening and writing SE). Pedagogical implications refer to the ways in which EFL teachers can increase their learners use of metacognitive strategies and increase their SE.Cancino, M.; Arenas, R.; Herrera, C. (2022). Leaving Home: What Economics Has to Say about the Living Arrangements of Young Australians

Like their counterparts elsewhere, more young Australians than ever are delaying the move to establish residential independence from their parents. This paper reviews the developing economics literature surrounding young people’s decisions to continue living in their parents’ homes in order to begin to assess the causes and consequences of this decision. In particular, co-residence with parents appears to be an important form of intergenerational support for young adults. It is important to understand the extent to which young people rely on this form of support as they complete their education, enter the labour market, and establish themselves as independent adults. Kajian Isi Lambung Dan Pertumbuhan Ikan Tembakang (Helostoma Temminckii) Di Rawa Bawang Latak, Tulang Bawang, Lampung

Rawa Bawang Latak merupakan salah satu bagian dari daerah aliran sungai Tulang Bawang yang keragaman spesies ikannya sangat tinggi. Salah satu spesies ikan yang banyak ditemukan di Rawa Bawang Latak adalah ikan tembakang (Helostoma temminckii). Populasi ikan tembakang di Rawa Bawang Latak terus mengalami penurunan, hal ini dikarenakan adanya penangkapan secara berlebih yang dilakukan oleh para nelayan. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasi agar populasi ikan ini tetap terjaga adalah dengan melakukan upaya domestikasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan kebiasaan makan (gut content analysis) ikan tembakang di Rawa Bawang Latak. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan mengambil 100 ekor sampel ikan di tiap bulannya selama 4 bulan yaitu dari bulan Oktober 2013 hingga Januari 2014. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ikan tembakang di Rawa Bawang Latak memiliki pola pertumbuhan allometrik positif pada bulan Oktober, November, dan Januari, sedangkan pada bulan Desember ikan tembakang di Rawa Bawang Latak memiliki pola pertumbuhan allometrik negatif. Ikan tembakang di Rawa Bawang Latak merupakan ikan pemakan plankton. Jenis plankton yang paling banyak ditemui di lambung ikan tembakang adalah Haematococcus sp
