    Developing a Validated Tool to Identify Asbestos-Containing Materials in Domestic Settings in the Western Australian Community

    Many individuals lack the knowledge and confidence to identify asbestos-containing material despite its ubiquity in the Australian residential environment. Therefore, the aim of the project was to develop, test, and implement a mobile phone application to assist with the identification of asbestos-containing material. This thesis demonstrates how a mobile phone application can be used as a data collection tool in order to estimate the prevalence and current condition of asbestos-containing materials remaining in residential settings

    Стаття присвячена дослідженню змісту системи соціально-демографічного потенціалу, її елементів та їх взаємозв’язку. Автор зазначає, що сучасні підходи до тлумачення соціально-демографічного потенціалу не дають чіткого розуміння такої категорії як система соціально-демографічного потенціалу через нестачу в їх визначенні врахування системних ознак у межах відповідного формулювання. У статті висловлено думку, що незалежно від підходу до визначення системи як категорії, незмінним залишається її тлумачення через множину пов’язаних між собою об’єктів та ресурсів, що організовані процесом системогенезесу в єдине ціле. Запропоновано авторське право розглядати соціально-демографічний потенціал як результат взаємодії двох підсистем: демографічна підсистема (стать, вік, сімейний стан) та соціальна підсистема(соціальний склад, освітній рівень, тривалість життя, стан здоров’я, міграційна рухливість). Автором доведено, що соціально-демографічний потенціал є системною сукупністю можливостей і мотивацій, здібностей і якостей індивідів, соціальних груп, суспільства, що забезпечують їх життєдіяльність, працездатність, соціальну активність та його відтворення. (The article is devoted to the study of the socio-demographic potential system, its elements and their interconnection. The author notes that modern approaches to the interpretation of socio-demographic potential do not provide a clear understanding of such a category as a socio-demographic potential system because of the lack of their consideration of systemic features within the framework of the corresponding phrase. The article represents the opinion that regardless of the approach to the definition of the system as a category, its interpretation remains unchanged due to a plurality of interconnected objects and resources organized by the process of systematization into a single whole. The author offers a copyright law aimed to consider the social-demographic potential as the result of the two subsystems interaction: the demographic subsystem (sex, age, marital status) and the social subsystem (social composition, educational level, life expectancy, health status, migration mobility). Within the article the author has proved that socio-demographic potential is a system of possibilities and motivations, abilities and qualities of individuals, social groups, society, providing their vital activity, working capacity, social activity and its reproduction.

    Kad je riječ o procjeni vrijednosti poduzeća bitno je znati da se želi steći uvid u najrealniju vrijednost poduzeća kad bi se procjenjivao goodwill, prodavalo poduzeće, isplata izlaska iz vlasničke strukture jednog od vlasnika itd. Ono predstavlja veoma kompleksan proces koji zahtjeva stručnjake iz područja financija i računovodstva kako bi se primjenili u najobjektivnijem izdanju. Ovim istraživačkim radom se nastojalo čitatelje upoznati korak po korak sa problemom procjene vrijednosti poduzeća. Počevši od samih izvora informacija, financijskih izvještaja, standarda za financijsko izvještavanje, te nastavak na pojam procjene vrijednosti koji predstavlja samo dio složenog procesa financijske analize poslovanja. Nakon teorijskog dijela istraživačkog rada, prelazi se na praktični dio primjene različitih metoda procjene na primjer poduzeća Končar Elektroindustrija d.d. U navedenom djelu se koriste knjigovodstvena metoda, metode procjene putem multiplikatora P/E (engl. price/earning) odnosa, P/B (engl. price/book), P/S (engl. price/sales), te na kraju provođenje DCF (Discounted Cash Flow), tj. metodom diskontiranih novčanih tokova. Svaka od navedenih metoda je dala različite rezultate, dok najbliže rezultate aktualnoj tržišnoj cijeni poduzeća ima metoda diskontiranih novčanih tokova. No to ne znači da je navedena metoda najprimjerenija za procjenu poduzeća, već se došlo do zaključka da nepostoji najidealnija metoda za procjenu, jer ono ovisi isključivo o samom znanju i iskustvu stručnjaka financijske analize poslovanja koji je provodi.When it comes to valuing a company's price, it is important to know that it wants to gain insight into the most realistic value of an enterprise when it comes to assessing goodwill, selling an enterprise, paying out of one of the owners etc. It is a very complex process that requires professionals in field of finance and accounting to be applied in the most promising edition. This research work sought to familiarize readers with step-by-step approaches to the problem of enterprise value assessment. Starting from the sources of information, financial reports, financial reporting standards, and continuing the concept of value estimation that is only part of the complex business analysis process. After the theoretical part of the research work, it goes to the practical part of the application of various methods of assessment, for example Končar Elektroindustrija d.d. P / E (price / earning ratio),P / B (price / book) and P / S (price/sales) multipliers are used in the aforesaid work, and finally, DCF discounted cash flow method. Each of the above methods has given different results, while the closest results to the current market price of the company have a discounted cash flow method. But that does not mean that the method is most appropriate for the enterprise assessment, but it has come to the conclusion that there is no ideal method of assessment, since it depends solely on the knowledge and experience of the financial analyst's own business experience

    The Unmet Orthodontic Treatment Need of Adolescents and Influencing Factors for not Seeking Orthodontic Therapy

    The purpose of this study was to estimate unmet orthodontic treatment needs of adolescents in Zagreb, Croatia, compare normative and self-perceived need and investigate factors influencing the reason why untreated subjects with severe malocclusions have not been treated before. One thousand and forty-two non-orthodontically treated subjects in age groups of 12 and 18 years, from sixteen randomly selected public schools in Zagreb, Croatia were examined. The Dental Aesthetic Index, Aesthetic Component of Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need and a questionnaire concerning self-perceived orthodontic treatment need, perception of aesthetics, function, behaviors and socioeconomic status were used. Around one third of untreated adolescent population had an objective need, less than 20 percent had aesthetic need, and self-perceived need was reported in one third of population. Associations and agreements between objective, aesthetic and self-perceived need were weak (r=0.27–0.48; p0.05) to 0.32 (p<0.05), respectively). Satisfaction with personal dental appearance and awareness of malocclusion were better related in persons with no treatment need or minor need (r=0.53–0.59) than in those with major need (r=0.31–0.40). Multiple logistic regression analyses confirmed that objective, aesthetic and self-perceived needs were better related between themselves than to socioeconomic status of subjects, function, activities of daily living and oral health-related behaviors. It appears that self-perceived treatment need has low role in predicting objective need, but relation between satisfaction and awareness of malocclusion could be one of basic factors in process of making decision to go for treatment and maybe could serve in predicting patient’s compliance
