3D Well-composed Polyhedral Complexes
A binary three-dimensional (3D) image is well-composed if the boundary
surface of its continuous analog is a 2D manifold. Since 3D images are not
often well-composed, there are several voxel-based methods ("repairing"
algorithms) for turning them into well-composed ones but these methods either
do not guarantee the topological equivalence between the original image and its
corresponding well-composed one or involve sub-sampling the whole image.
In this paper, we present a method to locally "repair" the cubical complex
(embedded in ) associated to to obtain a polyhedral
complex homotopy equivalent to such that the boundary of every
connected component of is a 2D manifold. The reparation is performed via
a new codification system for under the form of a 3D grayscale image
that allows an efficient access to cells and their faces
A-GWASF-GA: The New Version of GWASF-GA to Solve Many Objective Problems
A new version of the evolutionary algorithm based on GWASF-GA [1] is proposed in this work. GWASF-GA is an aggregation-based algorithm which uses the Tchebychev metric plus an augmentation term as fitness function and two reference points (the utopian and nadir points) to classify the individuals according to a set of widely-distributed weight vectors. Although this algorithm obtains a good approximation of the Pareto front (PF) for multi-objective optimization problems, this may be more difficult to obtain for many-objective optimization problems due to the fact that the weight vectors used are never updated along the search process. For this reason, we propose a new version of the algorithm, called A-GWASF-GA, in which a dynamic adjustment of the weight vectors is carried out. The main idea is to re-calculate some weight vectors in order to obtain solutions in parts of the PF with a lack of solutions. Firstly, a percentage (p) of the total number of evaluations is performed with the original GWASF-GA [1]. Secondly, during the rest of evaluations (1-p), we re-calculate na times the projection directions determined by a subset of Na weight vectors. The re-calculation process is based on a scattering level, a measure based on the distance of each solution and the solutions around it. According to the scattering level of the generated solutions, we detect the Na weight vectors projecting toward overcrowded areas of the PF and we re-calculate them so that their new projection directions point towards areas of the PF which are not so well approximated. In order to show the effectiveness of A-GWASF-GA, we compare it with NSGA-III [2, 3], MOEA/D [4], MOEA/D-AWA [5] and the original GWASF-GA.To evaluate their performance, we use the IGD metric [6]. The results of the computational experiment demonstrate the good performance of A-GWASF-GA in the novel many-objective optimization benchmark problems considered.Universidad de Málaga. NeQuick-G Performance Assessment for Space Applications
Other than traditional single-layer ionosphere models for global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers, the NeQuick-G model of Galileo provides a fully three-dimensional description of the electron density and obtains the ionospheric path delay by integration along the line of sight. While optimized for users on or near the surface of the earth, NeQuick-G can thus as well be used for ionospheric correction of single-frequency observations from spaceborne platforms. Based on slant and total electron content measurements obtained in the Swarm mission, the performance of NeQuick-G for users in low earth orbit is assessed for periods of high and low solar activity as well as different orientations of the orbital plane with respect to the sun and the region of high total electron content. A slant range correction performance of better than 70% is achieved in more than 85% of the examined epochs in good accord with the performance reported for terrestrial users. Likewise, the positioning errors can be notably reduced when applying the NeQuick-G corrections in single-frequency navigation solutions. For users at orbital altitudes, it is furthermore shown that vertical total electron predictions from NeQuick-G may be favorably combined with an elevation-dependent thick-layer mapping function to reduce the high computational effort associated with the integration of the electron density along the ray path for each tracked GNSS satellite
An algorithm to compute minimal Sullivan algebras
In this note, we give an algorithm that starting with a Sullivan algebra
gives us its minimal model. This algorithm is a kind of modified AT-model
algorithm used to compute in the past other kinds of topology information such
as (co)homology, cup products on cohomology and persistent homology. Taking as
input a (non-minimal) Sullivan algebra with an ordered finite set of
generators preserving the filtration defined on , we obtain as output a
minimal Sullivan algebra with the same rational cohomology as
