Conceptual Framework for the Use of Building Information Modeling in Engineering Education
The objective of this paper is to present a critical literature review of the Building Information Modelling (BIM) methodologyandtoanalyzewhetherBIMcanbeconsideredaVirtualLearningEnvironment.Aconceptualframeworkis proposed for using BIM in a university context. A search of documents was carried out in the Core Collection of Web of Science; it was restricted to the last five years (2013–2017). A total of 95 documents were analyzed; all documents were written in English and peer reviewed. BIM meets all the characteristics of Virtual Learning Environments. The proposed framework has three dimensions (competencies, pedagogical approach and level of integration). It allows for the planning and analysis of future experiences of teaching BIM in a university context.Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness of Spain and AEI/FEDER, UE Projects EDU2016-77007-RRegional Government of Extremadura (Spain) IB 16068Regional Government of Extremadura (Spain) GR1800
Death, Relics, and the Demise of Huts: Patterns of Planned Abandonment in Middle BA Central Iberia
[EN]This paper addresses the formation processes at an unparalleled Bronze Age settlement in the Iberian
Meseta. The site of El Cerro (Burgos, Spain) presents a series of challenging features: the simultaneous
inhumation of three subadults alongside a dwelling quarter and adjacent pits, some of them filled with
apparent formality, including such anachronistic elements as Neolithic and Beaker items and several
placed deposits, such as a leg of a cow. A critical evaluation of the contextual dataset, a re-fitting
operation, and an assessment of the abrasion and size of a ceramic sample were carried out. The archaeological
peculiarities of the site are explained as a contextually specific cultural response to a grievous
and traumatic episode: the death of three young siblings, which entailed the abandonment of the settlement
through prescribed practices. Some depositions are a product of recognizable intentionality, while
others are regarded as unintended cumulative outcomes
Public Relations and Events: The Organization of Festivals as a Tool for Cultural Promotion
Festivals not only fulfill their traditional role as an institution that allows to present, spread or preserve the
culture of a society, but also stand out for their ability to generate wealth in the cities where they are celebrated, for their contribution to the diversification of the tourism product or the improvement of the image
of the place (Devesa, Báez, Figueroa and Herrero, 2012). Specifically, film festivals have a much greater
importance playing a fundamental, but not recognized, role for the development of the industry and the
history of cinema (Vallejo, 2014, p.14). Under this perspective, the main objective of this work is to observe
the organization of the SCC Express Short Film Festival, in order to propose a sequenced model for the organization of events as a tool for communication and promotion of the cultural industry. The application of the
methodological design designed for the application of the proposed case study allows to establish a 9-phase
model for the organization of festivals as a technique of promotion and cultural development at the local level
Strategies for Solving Addition Problems Using Modified Schema-Based Instruction in Students with Intellectual Disabilities
A study is presented on the strategies employed to solve additive change problems by
three students with intellectual disabilities (two of them with autism spectrum disorder). The
students followed a program involving modified schema-based instruction. The results show an
improvement in the problem-solving skills of the three students, who achieved successful formal
strategies associated with identifying the operation. We analyze the importance of adapting and/or
emphasizing certain steps in the instruction process in order to tailor them to the difficulties of
each student
Teaching students with mild intellectual disability to solve word problems using schema-based instruction
This study, which used a multiple baseline across participants design, examines the effectiveness of a modified schema-based instructional approach to improve the mathematical word problem solving performance of three students with mild intellectual disability, two of whom had an autism spectrum disorder. Following the intervention, the three students improved their performance when solving addition and subtraction change word problems; however, their performance was inconsistent on change word problems. The effects of the instruction were generalized to two-step addition and subtraction word problems for the three participants. Moreover, the results were generalized to an untrained setting and were maintained 8 weeks after the instruction. The implications of these findings for teaching problem-solving skills to students with intellectual disability are discussed. This work was supported by the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad.
ENGLISH: The present work aims to build an initial approach to the definition of visual disability and categorize the different types it can present, with the purpose of gaining a better understanding of the difficulties that these students face in a Spanish lesson from a visucentric perspective.
This study considers the learning of students with low vision or blindness in an integrated educational environment, which requires a higher effort from the instructor, as well as from the student. Thus, we will discuss some of the methodologies and strategies that teachers of a foreign language can use in order to stimulate the inclusivity of the visually impaired without putting aside the learning objectives set for the classroom as a whole. Likewise, we will examine some of the guidelines that should lead the teacher's behaviour in relation to students with disabilities.
Furthermore, this work also contemplates the typographic barriers that visually impaired students have to deal with due to the fact that standard lessons and textbooks frequently rely on visual material. Lastly, we will observe the different adapted materials that enable a better learning experience for this collective. These resources include typhotechnology and adapted dictionaries, libraries, and Spanish exams.
With this, the objective is to achieve a teaching environment in which blind students will no longer be at a disadvantage compared to his peers and, therefore, will have the chance to take part in the same activities as them
An electron localization function and catastrophe theory analysis on the molecular mechanism of gas-phase identity SN2 reactions
A set of four reactions, XCH3+X− (X=F, Cl, Br)
and ClSiH3+Cl−, is investigated by means of the joint use of
the electron localization function (ELF) and catastrophe theory
(CT) analysis in order to obtain newinsights into the bond
breaking/forming processes for identity SN2 gas-phase reactions.
Using DFT calculations at the OLYP/6-311++G(d,p)
level, the effect of nucleophile (F, Cl, and Br anions) and the
role of reacting centers (C or Si) on the reaction mechanisms
are investigated. The charge-shift character of carbon–halogen
bonds is studied by determination of the weights of the
Lewis resonance structures. In all SN2 reactions at the carbon
atom, there is a progressive reduction on the covalent character
of the C–X bond from the reactant complex (0.41, 0.57,
0.58 for F, Cl, and Br, respectively) until the bond-breaking
process, occurring before the transition structure is reached.
On the other hand, the Si–Cl bond maintains its degree of
covalent character (0.51) from the isolated fragments to the
formation of a stable transition complex, presenting two silicon–
chlorine charge-shifted bonds. The analysis of the ELF
topology along the reaction path reveals that all reactions proceed
via the same turning points of fold-type but the order is
inverted for reactions taking place at C or Si atom
