Results from Bottom Trawl Survey on Flemish Cap of June-July 2018

A stratified random bottom trawl survey on Flemish Cap was carried out from June 26th to July 24th 2018. The area surveyed was extended up to depths of 800 fathoms (1460 meters) following the same procedures as in previous years and 181 fishing stations planned. The survey was carried out by the R/V Vizconde de Eza with the usual survey gear (Lofoten). A total of 181 valid hauls were made by the vessel R/V Vizconde de Eza, 120 up to 730 meters depth and 61 up to 1460 meters. Survey results including abundance indices of the main commercial species and age distributions for cod, redfish, American plaice, Greenland halibut, roughhead grenadier, squid and shrimp are presented. The general indexes for this year are estimated taken into account the traditional swept area (strata 1-19, up to depths of 730 m.) and the total area surveyed (strata 1-34, up to depths of 1460

El poder de una relación nutricia en adolescentes que sufren de abandono emocional

El presente trabajo expone el tema: El poder de una relación nutricia en adolescentes que sufren de abandono emocional con el objeto de estudio Relaciones- Vínculos. Se describen las situaciones que dan origen al abandono emocional, los síntomas que muestran los adolescentes que viven en ese contexto y sus consecuencias. Se muestra una descripción sobre las evidencias obtenidas luego de realizar una intervención con adolescentes de entre 15 y 17 años y un masculino de 23 años, alumnos de bachillerato; todos presentaban síntomas de abandono emocional. Dichas evidencias revelan las heridas persistentes que este grupo de adolescentes tiene, tales como: emociones hondas, autodestrucción y falta de figuras de contención. Se concluye que la situación de los adolescentes con abandono emocional es una problemática que en la actualidad aqueja a la sociedad, con resultados en muchos de los casos graves. Existen maneras de atender esta problemática, lo que se requiere es la sensibilización tanto de las familias y de todos los adultos que convivan con adolescentes.ITESO, A. C

La osteoporosis es una enfermedad en constante crecimiento y que afecta a más de 200 millones de personas en todo el mundo. Nuestras recomendaciones son guías para el diagnóstico, la prevención y tratamiento, pero no normas para las decisiones clínicas en casos individuales. El médico debe adaptarlas a situaciones en la práctica clínica cotidiana, incorporando factores personales que trascienden los límites de estas guías y hacen al saber y al arte de la práctica médica. Como todo conocimiento científico, deben ser actualizadas periódicamente a medida que se adquieran nuevas, mejores y más efectivas herramientas diagnósticas y terapéuticas.Osteoporosis is an evolving disease which affects over 200 million people worldwide. Our recommendations are guidelines for its diagnosis, prevention and treatment, but they do not constitute standards for clinical decisions in individual cases. The physician must adapt them to individual special situations, incorporating personal factors that transcend the limits of these guidelines and are dependent on the knowledge and art of the practice of Medicine. These guidelines should be reviewed and updated periodically as new, better and more effective diagnostic and therapeutic tools become available

The impact of different assumptions about reproductive potential and recruitment on a Management Strategy Evaluation for the Greenland halibut stock in NAFO Subarea 2 and Division 3KLMNO

We tested whether our perception of the performance of the adopted Harvest Control Rule (HCR) for Greenland halibut was robust to using different measures of Reproductive Potential (RP) combined with different assumptions about the stock recruit relationship to drive the stock dynamics in simulations. We tested the HCR using alternative stock recruitment functions (segmented regression, Ricker and modified Ricker) with different RP indices which vary in the level of biological complexity. The RP indices used in increasing order of biological information were: Biomass 10+, SSB with varying maturity at age (SSB), female SSB (FSB), and Total Egg Production (TEP). All Operating Models (OM) were based on the current accepted XSA assessment. Understanding the basis of uncertainty in the S/R relationships is generally the most difficult outstanding problem in fisheries assessment and management and it is a key problem in Management Strategy Evaluation (MSE). A Ricker stock recruitment function fits the Greenland halibut stock recruitment data better than the segmented regression for all the RP indices, except TEP. The results show that the inclusion of more biological information when estimating Reproductive Potential does not improve the stock recruitment fit for either (segmented regression or Ricker). The best fits in both cases were obtained in descending order with: 10+Biomass, SSB, FSB, and TEP. All the OMs based on the segmented regression have very similar results and seem to be robust to assumptions about RP. However, there was variability in the results of the different indices of RP in the Ricker and modified Ricker OMs and some impact on whether performance targets were met. The choice of stock recruit function had a greater impact than the inclusion of more biological information in the index of RP. The inclusion of alternative indices of RP is likely to have more of an impact for stocks with depleted reproductive capacity and/or where alternative indices have a greater effect on the S/R relationships.Postprint0,000
