Spacecraft Low Thrust Propulsion Optimization System

As we advance into a modern space-age there is a need to obtain better trajectories for spacecraft missions, in which optimization plays an integral role. These improved trajectories will provide a more cost efficient means of conducting space missions. Throughout this paper such optimization will be discussed in terms of accomplishment and potential problems. Previous trajectory optimization research efforts include using the idea that the shape-based solution is only near-optimal and as a result there should exist a neighboring solution with a lower cost. Using Linear Quadratic Regulator (LQR) control and linearized equations about the nominal shape-based trajectory, a shape-smoothing algorithm is built that improves the cost of the trajectory. This LQR algorithm also addresses the 2 drawbacks. First, the LQR removes the constraint that the in-plane thrust vector be parallel to the velocity vector. This improves the thrust pointing angle guess for any further optimization method. Second, since the overall thrust level does typically (but is not guaranteed to) decrease, the initial thrust acceleration for the LQR trajectory is lower than that of the shape-based method. This helps (but still does not guarantee that) the initial thrust acceleration for the LQR trajectory to be equal to or less than what the physical hardware can provide. As a continuation of previous research the LQR optimization method was used for multi-body target trajectory. Multiple examples were created ranging from one body to three body trajectories in order to verify the accuracy of the method compared to others that have been used

Biomedical research in a digital health framework

    Get PDF
This article describes a Digital Health Framework (DHF), benefitting from the lessons learnt during the three-year life span of the FP7 Synergy-COPD project. The DHF aims to embrace the emerging requirements--data and tools--of applying systems medicine into healthcare with a three-tier strategy articulating formal healthcare, informal care and biomedical research. Accordingly, it has been constructed based on three key building blocks, namely, novel integrated care services with the support of information and communication technologies, a personal health folder (PHF) and a biomedical research environment (DHF-research). Details on the functional requirements and necessary components of the DHF-research are extensively presented. Finally, the specifics of the building blocks strategy for deployment of the DHF, as well as the steps toward adoption are analyzed. The proposed architectural solutions and implementation steps constitute a pivotal strategy to foster and enable 4P medicine (Predictive, Preventive, Personalized and Participatory) in practice and should provide a head start to any community and institution currently considering to implement a biomedical research platform

We introduce the corporate Social Responsibility Plan for the company Tejar Arcillas of Rosario which is initially based on the evaluation of impacts in the economic, social and environmental dimensions. This design justifies the permanence of the company in time, due to the fact that, according to the consequences that the productive work may cause in the aforementioned conditions, it can generate acceptance or rejection by the society. The direct recipients of this plan are all Stakeholders, or interest groups, whom to some extend have participation; owners will improve their earnings, working conditions for both employees and managers will be improved, they will also have access to training for personal development; contractual conditions are ensured for suppliers, the levels of pollution will be reduced in the community in order to be responsible with the environment, in compliance with the environmental regulations and helping to mitigate possible affections. With clients, the company will continue to offer high quality products, and the relationship with this target group, in terms of ethics, will be improved

ANTIMICROBIAL EFFECT OF VANCOMYCIN ELECTRO-TRANSFERRED WATER AGAINST METHICILLIN-RESISTANT STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS VARIANT

Background: There is a number of alternative and complementary therapeutics that are unproven or have not been properly tested. For past twenty years, the transfer of bio-energetic information has been recognized as a novel scientific approach capable of contributing to improved therapy in the management of several diseases through the so-called bio-resonance therapy (BRT). Although BRT was discovered in the late 1980s, it is still poorly studied. The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibacterial effect of water samples transferred with electronic information of vancomycin, a well known drug against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), by using a BRT device on bacterial cultures. Material and Methods: MRSA cultures were treated with vancomycin electro-transferred water samples, vancomycin (4.0 and 8.0 µg/mL), sham electro-transferred (water to water) and non-transferred water samples (medium alone). Growth inhibition was evaluated in liquid and solid culture medium, spectrophotometrically and by CFU determination respectively. Results: The obtained data showed that by transferring vancomycin (4.0 and 8.0 µg/mL) information to water samples, the growth of cultured MRSA was significantly (p< 0.05) inhibited (up to 35%), compared with those cultures treated with electro-transferred water to water or cultured in medium alone (0% growth inhibition). Conclusion: This in vitro study suggests that water samples that are electronically transferred with vibration sustained information of vancomycin are capable of inhibiting growth of axenically cultured methicillin resistant S. aureus
