ssDNA degradation along capillary electrophoresis process using a Tris buffer
Tris-Acetate buffer is currently used in the selection and the characterization of ssDNA by capillary electrophoresis (CE). By applying high voltage, the migration of ionic species into the capillary generates a current that induces water electrolysis. This phenomenon is followed by the modification of the pH and the production of Tris derivatives. By injecting ten times by capillary electrophoresis ssDNA (50 nM), the whole oligonucleotide was degraded. In this paper, we will show that the Tris buffer in the running vials is modified along the electrophoretic process by electrochemical reactions. We also observed that the composition of the metal ions changes in the running buffer vials. This phenomenon, never described in CE, is important for fluorescent ssDNA analysis using Tris buffer. The oligonucleotides are degraded by electrochemically synthesized species (present in the running Tris vials) until it disappears, even if the separation buffer in the capillary is clean. To address these issues, we propose to use a sodium phosphate buffer that we demonstrate to be electrochemically inactive

Implementation of dynamic programming algorithms for electric vehicle smartcharging in a real parking lot with supervision
International audienceIn recent years, the number of work on smart gridshas increased, in particular work on the issue of electric vehicles(EVs) charging, which will be a critical aspect of this in thecoming years. The scientific research now offers effective toolsto optimize energy flows within electricity grids and plan theload of EV fleets. However, the difficulties associated with theinteroperability seem to be largely underestimated. The studyconducted jointly by the IETR and Dropbird highlights thetechnological obstacles that significantly hinder the developmentof intelligent charging solutions, and tests the use of dynamicprogramming based algorithms to deal with these issues
Breyten Breytenbachs poezie in Raster
CITATION: Bourgeus, C. & T'Sjoen, Y. 2017. Breyten Breytenbachs poezie in Raster. Tydskrif vir Letterkunde, 54(2):26-41, doi:10.17159/2309-9070/tvl.v.54i2.435.The original publication is available at https://journals.assaf.org.za/tvlFrom 1969 until 1972 the South-African writer and graphic artist Breyten Breytenbach published 29 poems, prose texts and three drawings in the Dutch experimental periodical Raster (first edition: 1967). H. C. ten Berge, writer, poet and Raster's main editor, attributed Breytenbach an unusually prominent position in his magazine. In the Dutch language area of the late sixties and early seventies, Breytenbach was mostly known for his political engagement within the anti-apartheid movement. Ten Berge, however, also praised his work for its formal and experimental aesthetic qualities. According to Ten Berge experiment and engagement are related to one another in a very unique way. By examining the position of Breytenbach in Raster, the paper presents a documentation of the exceptional literary relationship between Breytenbach and Ten Berge, as well as their shared interest in certain motifs in poetry, the use of a specific metaphoric language (e.g. perception of nature and body) and a common belief in the power of poetic language.https://journals.assaf.org.za/tvl/article/view/435Publisher's versio
