Robust Compensation of Delay and Diffusive Actuator Dynamics Without Distributed Feedback

[EN] This paper deals with robust observer-based output-feedback stabilization of systems whose actuator dynamics can be described in terms of partial differential equations (PDEs). More specifically, delay dynamics (first-order hyperbolic PDE) and diffusive dynamics (parabolic PDE) are considered. The proposed controllers have a PDE observer-based structure. The main novelty is that stabilization for an arbitrarily large delay or diffusion domain length is achieved, while distributed integral terms in the control law are avoided. The exponential stability of the closed loop in both cases is proved using Lyapunov functionals, even in the presence of small uncertainties in the time delay or the diffusion coefficient. The feasibility of this approach is illustrated in simulations using a second-order plant with an exponentially unstable mode. This work was supported in part by Project TIN2017-86520-C3-1-R, Ministerio de Economia y Competitividad, in part by the 16/17 UPV Mobility Award, and in part by the FPI-UPV 2014 Ph.D. Grant, Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Spain.Sanz Diaz, R.; García Gil, PJ.; Krstic, M. Study of Air Flow Interaction with Pilot Injections in a Diesel Engine by Means of PIV Measurements

[EN] With ever-demanding emission legislations in Compression Ignition (CI) engines, new premixed combustion strategies have been developed in recent years seeking both, emissions and performance improvements. Since it has been shown that in-cylinder air flow affects the combustion process, and hence the overall engine performance, the study of swirling structures and its interaction with fuel injection are of great interest. In this regard, possible Turbulent Kinetic Energy (TKE) distribution changes after fuel injection may be a key parameter for achieving performance improvements by reducing in-cylinder heat transfer. Consequently, this paper aims to gain an insight into spray-swirl interaction through the analysis of in-cylinder velocity fields measured by Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) when PCCI conditions are proposed. Experiments are carried out in a single cylinder optical Diesel engine with bowl-in-piston geometry. A standard 2D PIV system is used for measuring instantaneous velocity fields in a cross section (swirl-plane) inside the combustion chamber. The test matrix is based on an advanced single pilot injection with energizing time and injection pressure sweeps at different crank-angles. Results show that swirl ratio decreases with the increase of injected fuel mass. The decrease in swirl ratio also comes with a homogenization of the flow field. This homogenization along with lower swirl ratios might decrease heat transfer to cylinder walls. The support of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness (TRA2014-58870-R,) is greatly acknowledged through HiReCo project.García-Oliver, JM.; García Martínez, A.; Gil, A.; Pachano-Prieto, LM. Group-decision making with induced ordered weighted logarithmic aggregation operators

This paper presents the induced generalized ordered weighted logarithmic aggregation (IGOWLA) operator, this operator is an extension of the generalized ordered weighted logarithmic aggregation (GOWLA) operator. It uses order-induced variables that modify the reordering process of the arguments included in the aggregation. The principal advantage of the introduced induced mechanism is the consideration of highly complex attitude from the decision makers. We study some families of the IGOWLA operator as measures for the characterization of the weighting vector (...

Targeting PDE10A GAF Domain with Small Molecules: A Way for Allosteric Modulation with Anti-Inflammatory Effects

Phosphodiesterase (PDE) enzymes regulate the levels of cyclic nucleotides, cAMP, and/or cGMP, being attractive therapeutic targets. In order to modulate PDE activity in a selective way, we focused our efforts on the search of allosteric modulators. Based on the crystal structure of the PDE10A GAF-B domain, a virtual screening study allowed the discovery of new hits that were also tested experimentally, showing inhibitory activities in the micromolar range. Moreover, these new PDE10A inhibitors were able to decrease the nitrite production in LPS-stimulated cells, thus demonstrating their potential as anti-inflammatory agentsFinancial support from MINECO and FEDER founds (UE program) (project SAF2012-33600) is acknowledged. Laponite as carrier for controlled in vitro delivery of dexamethasone in vitreous humor models

    Get PDF
Laponite clay is able to retain dexamethasone by simple physisorption, presumably accomplished by hydrogen bonding formation and/or complexation with sodium counterions, as shown by solid state NMR. The physisorption can be somehow modulated by changing the solvent in the adsorption process. This simple system is able to deliver dexamethasone in a controlled manner to solutions used as models for vitreous humor. The proven biocompatibility of laponite as well as its transparency in the gel state, together with the simplicity of the preparation method, makes this system suitable for future in vivo tests of ophthalmic treatment. This study was supported by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III (project PI12/02285) and authors would like to acknowledge the financial support received from Diputación General de Aragón (E11 Group co-financed by the European Regional Development Funds).Peer Reviewe

It's presented the first palinologycal datas obtained in the Puerto de Canencia (Madrid). The study of this zone will let us palliate the actual emptiness, from the palinologycal point of view, in the most eastern part of the Sistema Central and show the evolution and development of the vegetation in this zone

Se propone también por primera vez el término "oblongo".Morphological and metrical of pollens traits of 24 species of Crucijerae from skirts of two villages (Alcala de Henares and Sigüenza, Spain) were analized through two different statistical analysis: partial correlation and multivariate regression.
