    Integralidade do cuidado na atenção à saúde auditiva do adulto no SUS: acesso à reabilitação

    RESUMO Objetivo Caracterizar a indicação e analisar a percepção dos usuários quanto a queixas e benefícios do uso de próteses auditivas concedidas pelo Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Métodos Estudo transversal, quantitativo, que analisou 100 usuários de próteses auditivas no retorno inicial após adaptação, em um serviço de média e alta complexidade em saúde auditiva. Foram coletados dados dos prontuários relativos às características da perda auditiva, da seleção e adaptação da prótese auditiva, e do tempo de uso. Foi realizada entrevista para investigar a percepção de queixas e benefícios com o uso da prótese auditiva. Resultados Houve predomínio dos seguintes aspectos: a faixa etária de 66 a 90 anos; Ensino Fundamental incompleto; perda auditiva sensorioneural de graus leve e moderado; ligeira/discreta dificuldade de compreensão da fala. Foram adaptadas 184 próteses, sendo a maioria retroauricular e de Tipo A; o tempo de espera entre a indicação e a adaptação foi entre 33 e 88 dias; o principal benefício da prótese auditiva foi a melhora da compreensão/interação social, e a queixa principal referiu-se a problemas de regulagem. Conclusão A maior parte dos usuários relatou benefícios com a utilização da prótese para a compreensão de fala e a interação social, e a queixa mais referida foi a regulagem

    AbstractThe large production of broilers and fruits in Brazil demands the exploration of new sources of nutrients for the birds and of sustainable disposal of the fruit industrialization wastes. The effects of feeding broiler chickens with residues from acerola industrialization (AM) on meat composition, fatty acids profile, oxidative stability and sensory characteristics were evaluated. Four soybean-corn based diets were tested: negative control, with no antioxidant nor AM; positive control, with butyl hydroxytoluene (BHT) and no AM; and two diets containing either 5 or 7.5% AM and no antioxidant. Official validated methods were used for the chemical and sensorial analyses of the meat. On breast, 7.5% AM increased protein (14.13%) and ash (10.6%) concentrations. On both cuts, AM reduced around 30% the cholesterol levels, decreased saturated fatty acids, increased polyunsaturated fatty acids and reduced n-6:n-3. AM at 5% delayed the onset of lipid peroxidation in frozen stored breasts more than did the antioxidant BHT (36 x 22.5 days). Breasts from treatment containing BHT had the worst sensorial acceptance by consumers. The addition of acerola meal to broiler chickens’ diets revealed a good option to provide healthier meat with longer shelf life, besides representing a way of reducing fruit waste in the environment

    Dissociation of enzymatic and pharmacological properties of piratoxins-I and -III, two myotoxic phospholipases A2 from Bothrops pirajai snake venom

    Piratoxins (PrTX) I and III are phospholipases A2 (PLA2s) or PLA2 homologue myotoxins isolated from Bothrops pirajai snake venom, which also induce myonecrosis, bactericidal activity against Escherichia coli, disruption of artificial membranes, and edema. PrTX-III is a catalytically active hemolytic and anticoagulant Asp49 PLA2, while PrTX-I is a Lys49 PLA2 homologue, which is catalytically inactive on artificial substrates, but promotes blockade of neuromuscular transmission. Chemical modifications of His, Lys, Tyr, and Trp residues of PrTX-I and PrTX-III were performed, together with cleavage of the N-terminal octapeptide by CNBr and inhibition by heparin and EDTA. The lethality, bactericidal activity, myotoxicity, neuromuscular effect, edema inducing effect, catalytic and anticoagulant activities, and the liposome-disruptive activity of the modified toxins were evaluated. A complex pattern of functional differences between the modified and native toxins was observed. However, in general, chemical modifications that significantly affected the diverse pharmacological effects of the toxins did not influence catalytic or membrane disrupting activities. Analysis of structural changes by circular dichroism spectroscopy demonstrated significant changes in the secondary structure only in the case of N-terminal octapeptide cleavage.     High-Protein Diet Containing Dairy Products is Associated with Low Body Mass Index and Glucose Concentrations: A Cross-Sectional Study

    The aim was to evaluate whether the ingestion of a high protein diet containing dairy protein is associated with anthropometric indicators of adiposity and blood glucose. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted with volunteers of 20–89 years of age who performed leisure physical activity. We assessed dietary intake, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), triceps skinfold thickness (TSFT), random blood glucose as well as sociodemographic and behavioral variables. Results: A total of 418 individuals were evaluated. The consumption of a high-protein diet (1.80 ± 0.49 g/kg/day) was found in 37.8% of individuals, which showed lower BMI, WC, TSFT and blood glucose concentrations compared to those with a low-protein diet (0.56 ± 0.18 g/kg/day). Dairy products consumption was inversely associated with BMI when adjusted for sex and age (odds ratio (OR): 0.79, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.68–0.93, p = 0.004) and by sex, age, fiber and energy (OR: 0.79; 95% CI: 0.67–0.92; p = 0.004), and with blood glucose when adjusted for sex and age (OR: 0.86; 95% CI: 0.74–0.99; p = 0.042). Cheese consumption was inversely associated with blood glucose when adjusted for sex and age (OR: 0.73, 95% CI: 0.55–0.96, p = 0.023) and by sex, age, calories and fibers (OR: 0.74, 95% CI: 0.56–0.98, p = 0.036). Two portions of cheeses/day reduced the risk of having high blood glucose levels by approximately 80%. Conclusion: A high-protein diet containing dairy food, in particular two servings of cheese, was associated with low BMI and random glucose concentration

    Neste artigo, discuto a presença da dimensão religiosa na biomedicina1 que se manifesta nos discursos, nas práticas e nos comportamentos desses profissionais em Lisboa quando o assunto refere-se ao aborto. Ao mesmo tempo, observo que tal religiosidade não se configura homogeneamente entre os sujeitos, pois muitos ao se declararem objetores de consciência utilizam esse protocolo como poder simbólico,2 afetando as mulheres em seus direitos reprodutivos. Foram realizadas 12 entrevistas semi-estruturadas durante o doutorado-sanduíche com profissionais de saúde que trabalhavam em diferentes instituições hospitalares nesse país.<br>In this article I discuss the presence of the religious dimension in the biomedical area manifested in the discourses, practices and behaviors of these professionals in Lisbon, Portugal, when the issue is abortion. At the same time I observe that such religiosity does not configure itself homogeneously among the subjects, because many, claiming to be conscience objectors, use this protocol as symbolic power affecting women in their reproductive rights.
