Coupling a Self-Dual Tensor to Gravity in Six Dimensions
A recent result concerning interacting theories of self-dual tensor gauge
fields in six dimensions is generalized to include coupling to gravity. The
formalism makes five of the six general coordinate invariances manifest,
whereas the sixth one requires a non-trivial analysis. The result should be
helpful in formulating the world-volume action of the M theory five-brane.Comment: 7 pages, latex, no figure
Generalized dilaton-Maxwell cosmic string and wall solutions
The class of static solutions found by Gibbons and Wells for
dilaton-electrodynamics in flat spacetime, which describe nontopological
strings and walls that trap magnetic flux, is extended to a class of dynamical
solutions supporting arbitrarily large, nondissipative traveling waves, using
techniques previously applied to global and local topological defects. These
solutions can then be used in conjunction with S-duality to obtain more general
solitonic solutions for various axidilaton-Maxwell theories. As an example, a
set of dynamical solutions is found for axion, dilaton, and Maxwell fields in
low energy heterotic string theory using the SL(2,R) invariance of the
equations of motion.Comment: 11 pages; to appear in Phys.Lett.
Evidence submitted to the BIS Select Committee consultation on Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) and the Regional Growth Fund (RGF)
The evidence summarised in this submission is based on the national research project: From Regionalism to Localism: Cross Country LEPs. The aim of this research is to monitor what steps are being taken by LEPs to support businesses to create jobs and support the development of local economies. The research explores the issues arising from the formation of the LEPs over their first three years, 2010-2013 and is monitoring the journey of the LEPs nationally. LEPs are the chief vehicle for economic development within the context of localism but are delivering national level initiatives, such as Enterprise Zones. Indeed, they have been set a considerable challenge – uniting business, public and community interests in a way that enables the economic regeneration and growth of local places. The research drills-down to focus on four particular ‘regions’: the North East; Yorkshire and the Humber; the West Midlands and the South West. Some of the project team’s initial and emerging research outputs are appended to this submission
RCON Administration tool designed for use with Garry’s Mod and Source Servers
The proposed project is an Android application designed to interact with the Source RCON protocol. Defined below: The Source RCON Protocol is a TCP/IP-based communication protocol used by Source Dedicated Server, which allows console commands to be issued to the server via a remote console , or RCON. The most common use of RCON is to allow server owners to control their game servers without direct access to the machine the server is running on. In order for commands to be accepted, the connection must first be authenticated using the server\u27s RCON password, which can be set using the console variablercon_password
