    Studying the factors affecting job satisfaction of employees of Semnan health centers

    Job satisfaction of employees is one of the most challenging concepts in any organization and is the basis for many of the policies and management strategies to increase productivity and efficiency. It is influenced by many factors including environmental and personal factors, income, nature and social status of the job, organizational prestige, promotion, job security, lack of role ambiguity, and physical job conditions Co-workers. This study was carried out to determine the factors affecting job satisfaction employees of Semnan health center's to meet the challenges and increase efficiency. This is a cross-sectional study carried out in 2013, over 93 employees with a employment history of over 2 years. Method and data collection was through job descriptive inventory (Job Descriptive Index); data was collected and analyzed using SPSS16. The results of questionnaire analysis in seven items regarding job satisfaction, show satisfaction supervision and leadership (77.2%), management policy (77%), job stability (63.4%), environmental conditions (59.6%), cross-relation between Co-workers (58.6%), salary and benefits (53.4%) and opportunities for growth, development and promotion (53.2%). Based on evaluated items, the overall job satisfaction in this study was moderate. Thus, in terms of job satisfaction, it seems that different factors affective in different ratios. Job satisfaction is not only very important by itself, but also important concerning its impact on other aspects of the job attitude. In fact, by increasing job satisfaction, other aspects of job attitudes such as organizational commitment, job involvement and organizational atmosphere can be improved. This point can also be seen in proposed models and research carried out by professionals in this field.

    Pain is an unpleasant experience that results from physical and psychological responses to injury. Since, the main goal of treatment is to control pain, finding safe, easy, and inexpensive methods for pain control is still a necessity. Aromatherapy has long been used to relieve pain and treatment of various diseases. Lavender is one of the most famous plants in aromatherapy that has importance and particular value in relieving pain and treatment of different diseases and has many applications in clinical practice. The use of Lavender as an alternative method of treatment decreases the need to chemical drugs in some of the physical and psychological problems. A review of literature on the analgesic effects of Lavender showed different effects and results. So, the need to further studies is tangible. Due to the necessity, this review study was done with aim to evaluate pain control with essential oil of Lavender. We reviewed articles indexed in the Medline, Pubmed, Scopus, Google scholar databases, between 2004 and 2015. The search was conducted by using key words: pain, pain control, aromatherapy and Lavender and relevant articles were extracted.  Finally, 36 articles were studied. The results showed that the effects of Lavender in the management of acute and chronic pain, cancer pain and etc. mainly depend on the nature of pain and the method of administration. But in the most cases, Lavender has analgesic effects. Based on these findings, it is recommended further studies to prove it in various clinical situations and to determine the amount of required lavende

    Faculty viewpoints about factors influencing research performance: A qualitative study in Semnan University of Medical Sciences

    Introduction: Faculty members of medical universities have major role in conducting researches and knowledge production.  The consideration of the viepoints of faculty members about factors affecting researche perormace can increase both the quantity and quality of scientific articles and borders of knowledge extension. This study aimed to explore the effective factors in research from the viewpoints of faculty members of Semnan University of Medical Sciences. Materials and Methods: This study was conducted with qualitative approach in 2016. Sampling was purposeful with maximum variation. Data were gathered via semi-structured interviews by 11 participants of faculty members in Semnan University of Medical Sciences (6 basic sciences and 5 clinical doctors). Data were analyzed by conventional content analysis method simultaneously data collection based on five steps of Granheim and Lundman (2004). Trustworthiness was achieved through Lincoln and Guba criteria. Results: A total of six main themes including: “motivation”, “personality characteristic”, “support”, “appropriate infrastructure”, “interaction and team work” and “organizational (management) factors” were emerged from data analysis. Conclusion: Findings of study explained affecting factors on research from the viewpoint of faculty members.     Effects of lavender essential oil inhalation on nurses’ job stress

    Introduction: Nurses are confronted continuously with pain, suffering, injuries, deaths and experience high job stress in their workplace. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of lavender oil inhalation on nurses' job stress. Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial study, 78 nurses who working in social security hospitals in 2015 were selected by convenience method.In this way, nurses were selected with randomized block in two groups, lavender and control. Participants were used lavender or sesame oil for two hours in the early hours of shifts and during four weeks. Job stress were determined and compared in both groups before the intervention, as well as the second and fourth weeks by 34 Gry- Taft Anderson job stress questionnaire. Data were analyzed and compared by descriptive- analytical statistics. Results: The mean of nurses' job stress had 87.09 &plusmn; 17.41 job stress and had no significant difference in both groups at the end of the second week of aromatherapy (P=0.304), but this difference was significant at the end of the fourth week (P=0.003).The results showed that after four weeks using lavender essential oil with a mean of 8.89 &plusmn; 2.38 than to the first stage, it has been effective in reducing job stress (P=0.002). Aromatherapy had no effect in the control group (P<0.21). Conclusion: The use of lavender for more than two weeks can be effective in reducing job stress.Therefore, the use of scent as a useful method, recommended in nursing environment
