    Mass and charge identification of fragments detected with the Chimera Silicon-CsI(Tl) telescopes

    Mass and charge identification of charged products detected with Silicon-CsI(Tl) telescopes of the Chimera apparatus is presented. An identification function, based on the Bethe-Bloch formula, is used to fit empirical correlation between Delta E and E ADC readings, in order to determine, event by event, the atomic and mass numbers of the detected charged reaction products prior to energy calibration.Comment: 24 pages, 7 .jpg figures, submitted to Nucl.Instr.

    Why young consumers adopt interactive technologies

    Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to provide an explanation for why young consumers adopt interactive technologies. Design/methodology/approach – The data analysed in this paper was taken from a series of in-depth interviews and two online surveys initially conducted for the 2005 and 2006 Lifelounge Urban Market Reports. Findings – The results suggest that five key values held by young consumers explain their adoption of interactive technologies. Following the explanation of each finding is a vignette of how the social networking site MySpace utilises interactive technologies to enable young consumers to convey their values.     Disinfectants prepared in a hospital pharmacy: assessment of their microbiological purity and antimicrobial effectivenes

    The microbial contamination and antimicrobial effectiveness of seven topical disinfectants prepared at the hospital pharmacy were studied. These products were controlled throughout storage and use. The manufacturing routine investigated was able to deliver larger batch sizes and quality products that allowed increased storage time. The formulations chosen by the pharmacists were effective against bacteria for their intended uses. For chloramine only, loss of effectiveness required reduced storage time.
