Quantum Correlations and Quantum Non-Locality: A Review and a Few New Ideas

In this paper we make an extensive description of quantum non-locality, one of the most intriguing and fascinating facets of quantum mechanics. After a general presentation of several studies on this subject, we consider if quantum non-locality, and the friction it carries with special relativity, can eventually find a "solution" by considering higher dimensional spaces.Comment: 1

A conclusive experiment to throw more light on "light"

We describe a new realization of Ghose, Home, Agarwal experiment on wave particle duality of light where some limitations of the former experiment, realized by Mizobuchi and Ohtake, are overcome. Our results clearly indicate that wave-particle complementarity must be understood between interference and "whelcher weg" knowledge and not in a more general sense

Explainable AI in Fintech and Insurtech

The growing application of black-box Artificial Intelligence algorithms in many real-world application is raising the importance of understanding how models make their decision. The research field that aims to look into the inner workings of the black-box and to make predictions more interpretable is referred to as eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). Over the recent years, the research domain of XAI has seen important contributions and continuous developments, achieving great results with theoretically sound applied methodologies. These achievements enable both industry and regulators to improve on existing models and their supervision; this is done in term of explainability, which is the main purpose of these models, but it also brings new possibilities, namely the employment of eXplainable AI models and their outputs as an intermediate step to new applications, greatly expanding their usefulness beyond explainability of model decisions. This thesis is composed of six chapters: an introduction and a conclusion plus four self contained sections reporting the corresponding papers. Chapter 1 proposes the use of Shapley values in similarity networks and clustering models in order to bring out new pieces of information, useful for classification and analysis of the customer base, in an insurtech setting. In chapter 2 a comparison between SHAP and LIME, two of the most important XAI models, evaluating their parameters attribution methodologies and the information they are capable of include thereof, in italian Small and Medium Enterprises’ Probability of Default (PD) estimation, with balance sheet data as inputs. Chapter 3 introduces the use of Shapley values in feature selection techniques, with the analysis of wrapper and embedded feature selection algorithms and their ability to select relevant features with both raw data and their Shapley values, again in the setting of SME PD estimation. In chapter 4, a new methodology of model selection based on Lorenz Zoonoid is introduced, highlighting similarities with the game-theoretical concept of Shapley values and their variability decomposition attribution to independent variables as well as some advantages in terms of model comparability and standardization. These properties are explored through both a simulated example and the application to a real world dataset, provided by EU-certified rating agency Modefinance. The growing application of black-box Artificial Intelligence algorithms in many real-world application is raising the importance of understanding how models make their decision. Il disaccordo nelle serie TV: il caso di How to Get Away with Murder

Lo scopo di questo lavoro è analizzare le principali situazioni di disaccordo presenti nella prima stagione della serie televisiva How to Get Away with Murder. How to Get Away with Murder. Il terzo capitolo comprende l’analisi delle scene di disaccordo, in particolare delle lamentele

    Quantum Time: experimental multi-time correlations

In this paper we provide an experimental illustration of Page and Wootters' quantum time mechanism that is able to describe two-time quantum correlation functions. This allows us to test a Leggett-Garg inequality, showing a violation from the "internal" observer point of view. The "external" observer sees a time-independent global state. Indeed, the scheme is implemented using a narrow-band single photon where the clock degree of freedom is encoded in the photon's position. Hence, the internal observer that measures the position can track the flow of time, while the external observer sees a delocalized photon that has no time evolution in the experiment time-scale.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

Barbara Gramegna. Dipartimento Istuzione e Formazione Italiana Provincia di Bolzano (Italia)Recepción: 23/07/2018 | Aceptado: 30/04/2019Correspondencia a través de ORCID: Barbara Gramegna - 0000-0002-0237-2954This contribution presents a teacher-training program delivered by the Italian Educational Department in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (Italy) centred on Intercomprehension theory. It was addressed to teachers in service with the aim of combining both purposes of plurilingual and intercultural education. Considered that linguistic competence is essential for developing knowledge in every school subject, the purpose of this training was to offer practical suggestions to become aware of how interlinguistic, receptive skills and decoding strategies can be applied in combination to facilitate comprehension tout court and to achieve mediation skills and language awareness. The paper offers some considerations about today´s language teaching/learning processes in schools and about the changing role of teachers. The third section introduces the concept of Intercomprehension and its value for teacher training. The paper focuses on a description of the phases of the teacher training program conducted in 2017. It illustrates briefly the context, the needs assessment process, the aims and contents. The fourth section provides a summary and analysis of participants´ feedback, with ideas for future developments and conclusive remarks.

This book investigates the role of interior design in the enhancement of the effectiveness of Non-Pharmacological therapies for Alzheimer’s disease care. The author presents the conceptual model for an environmental system called “Therapeutic Habitat”, meant as a system of environmental interventions, based on tangible and intangible aspects, products and furniture, objects and services. Its aim is to enhance the well-being of people with dementia and stimulate recognition and interaction with the surrounding environment
