Communist China\u27s Trade Treaties and Agreements (1949-1964)
Utilizing material gathered by extensive research, the author examines Communist China\u27s trade treaties and agreements, with some emphasis upon their economic and political implications. Also, he analyzes the Communist Chinese use of establishment provisions and national and most-favored-nation treatment. The author has selected the period from 1949 to 1964 due to the existence of an official collection of treaties compiled by the Peking government for this period. Although the collection has not been available since 1964, the authors examination of secondary official source materials has revealed no significant change in the regime\u27s attitude, and therefore, the materials contained in the official collection are considered representative of the present attitudes of the People\u27s Republic of China
trans-Bromido(pyrimidinyl-κC 2)bis(triphenylphosphane-κP)palladium(II)
In the title complex, [PdBr(C4H3N2)(C18H15P)2], the geometry around the PdII atom is distorted square-planar with the PdII atom displaced by 0.0150 (5) Å from the least-squares BrP2C plane. Two PPh3 ligands are in trans positions [P—Pd—P = 176.743 (17)°], while the pyrimidinyl ligand and Br atom are trans to one another [C—Pd—Br = 176.56 (5)°]. Structural parameters from NMR, IR and mass spectra are in agreement with the crystal structure of the title compound
Corrugated Silicon Platelet Feed Horn Array for CMB Polarimetry at 150 GHz
Next generation cosmic microwave background (CMB) polarization anisotropy
measurements will feature focal plane arrays with more than 600 millimeter-wave
detectors. We make use of high-resolution photolithography and wafer-scale etch
tools to build planar arrays of corrugated platelet feeds in silicon with
highly symmetric beams, low cross-polarization and low side lobes. A compact
Au-plated corrugated Si feed designed for 150 GHz operation exhibited
performance equivalent to that of electroformed feeds: ~-0.2 dB insertion loss,
<-20 dB return loss from 120 GHz to 170 GHz, <-25 dB side lobes and <-23 dB
cross-polarization. We are currently fabricating a 50 mm diameter array with 84
horns consisting of 33 Si platelets as a prototype for the SPTpol and ACTpol
telescopes. Our fabrication facilities permit arrays up to 150 mm in diameter.Comment: 12 pages; SPIE proceedings for Millimeter, Submillimeter, and

Bis(carbonyl-κC)(N,N-dimethylthiocarbamoyl-κ2 C,S)(pyridine-2-thiolato-κ2 N,S)(triphenylphosphine-κP)molybdenum(II)
There are two independent molecules with similar configurations in the title complex, [Mo(C3H6NS)(C5H4NS)(C18H15P)(CO)2]. The geometry around the metal atom is that of a capped octahedron. The thiocabamoyl and pyridine-2-thiolate ligands coordinate to the molybdenum metal center through the C and S atoms, and N and S atoms, respectively. NMR, IR and MS analyses are in agreement with the structure of the title compound
Horn Coupled Multichroic Polarimeters for the Atacama Cosmology Telescope Polarization Experiment
Multichroic polarization sensitive detectors enable increased sensitivity and
spectral coverage for observations of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). An
array optimized for dual frequency detectors can provide 1.7 times gain in
sensitivity compared to a single frequency array. We present the design and
measurements of horn coupled multichroic polarimeters encompassing the 90 and
150 GHz frequency bands and discuss our plans to field an array of these
detectors as part of the ACTPol project
trans-Bromido(pyrimidinyl-κC 5)bis(triphenylphosphane-κP)palladium(II)
In the title complex, [PdBr(C4H3N2)(C18H15P)2], the geometry around the Pd atom is distorted square-planar with the Pd atom displaced by 0.0334 (14) Å from the BrP2C plane. The two Ph3P ligands are in trans positions, defining a P—Pd—P angle of 171.78 (5)°, while the pyrimidinyl and bromide ligands are trans to each other [C—Pd—Br = 174.63 (14)°]
[(Pyrrolidin-1-yl)carbothioylsulfanyl]methyl pyrrolidine-1-carbodithioate
The title compound, C11H18N2S4, was unexpectedly obtained during studies on the reactivity of the complex tris(acac-κ2
O,O′)gallium(III) (acac is acetylacetonate) with C4H8NCS2H in dichloromethane. The title compound shows disordered two pyrrolidine rings with major and minor occupancies of 0.546 (4) and 0.454 (4). Two (pyrrolidin-1-yl)carbothioylsulfanyl units are linked together through a methylene C atom and weak C—H⋯S interactions are found
Methods and apparatus for constructing and implementing a universal extension module for processing objects in a database
Methods and apparatus for providing a multi-tier object-relational database architecture are disclosed. In one illustrative embodiment of the present invention, a multi-tier database architecture comprises an object-relational database engine as a top tier, one or more domain-specific extension modules as a bottom tier, and one or more universal extension modules as a middle tier. The individual extension modules of the bottom tier operationally connect with the one or more universal extension modules which, themselves, operationally connect with the database engine. The domain-specific extension modules preferably provide such functions as search, index, and retrieval services of images, video, audio, time series, web pages, text, XML, spatial data, etc. The domain-specific extension modules may include one or more IBM DB2 extenders, Oracle data cartridges and/or Informix datablades, although other domain-specific extension modules may be used
