Immobilization Impact of Photocatalysts onto Graphene Oxide

    Get PDF
The densely functionalized graphene oxide (GO) surface and the two-dimensional carbon structure had provided a unique opportunity for supporting photocatalysts. Concerning GO-based photocatalysis, GO plays the role of an electron acceptor that accelerates the interfacial electron-transfer process, recombination retardant of charge carriers, fine-tuner for the electronic and chemical properties of the supported photocatalysts, and finally, a carrier transport between different active sites. Moreover, standalone GO is a p-doped semiconductor material with the π* orbital of the oxygen remains as the conduction band minimum (CBM) while the valance band maximum (VBM) changes gradually from the p-orbital of carbon to the 2p orbital of oxygen upon oxidation. The outstanding features of the GO-based photocatalysis opened the way to serve the progress in many environmental applications including water treatment, air purification, water splitting, CO2 conversion, and sensing applications

Discrete Half-Logistic Distribution: Statistical Properties, Estimation, and Application

    Get PDF
This article presented a novel discrete distribution with one parameter derived by the discretization approach and called the discrete half-logistic distribution. Its probability mass function and hazard function have different shapes. A variety of its statistical properties, including moments, probability generating function, incomplete moments, and order statistics, were determined mathematically. Maximum likelihood, moments, and proportion estimation methods were used to estimate its parameter. A simulation study conducts to check the various estimating method’s performance. By using a real data set, its flexibility is assessed. Lastly, it can model count data sets in a way that is compared with other distributions that are already in the scientific literature

Catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in presence of Ni(II)-ethanolamine complex ions sorbed on Dowex 50W resin

    No full text
The catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide was studied kinetically in presence of the resin Dowex-50w in the form of mono (mea)-di (dea) - and tri(tea) - ethanolamine- Ni (II) complexes in an aqueous medium. The rate constant, k (per g of dry resin ) was estimated over the temperature range 25-40 °C. The reaction was first order with respect to [H2O2] in all cases. The value of the rate constant increased in the following sequence : tea < dea < mea, which is the same sequence of the basic strength of the free amines. The activation parameters were calculated. Probable mechanism for the reaction was proposed
