    El Festival Internacional del Nuevo Cine Latinoamericano de La Habana, en donde se pueden ver las películas más recientes, es un paraíso para los amantes del cine. Hoy en día, lo que era antes un festival que abarcaba hasta los barrios marginales de la ciudad, se concentra en las grandes salas, muchas de ellas venidas a menos, a pesar de que algunas hayan sido modernizadas para proyectar películas digitales y de que se encuentren situadas a lo largo de la Calle 23. Iván Giroud, director del festival, explicó que este mantiene costos muy bajos (no hay alfombras rojas, ni limosinas ni demás excesos mediáticos) a cambio de la posibilidad de brindarles a los habitantes de la ciudad la posibilidad de asistir a la proyección de películas de América Latina, imposibles de conseguir el resto del año, y a precios módicos. En respuesta, el público forma colas larguísimas, ansioso de ver los estrenos, especialmente los de las películas cubanas
