    SOCIAL TRUST AND DAIRY CATTLE FARMING CASE STUDY : DAIRY CATTLE FARMERS IN GETASAN VILLAGE, CENTRAL JAVA PROVINCE

    ABSTRACT The study aimed to analyze the relationship between social trust and performance of dairy cattle farming in Semarang Regency, Central Java. The study was conducted in Getasan Village, Getasan District, Semarang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The sample size in this study was 96. The information gathered from the respondent’s interview via questionnaire were coded and processed using the (SPSS) and were analyzed quantitatively to the possible extent using descriptive statistics such as frequency distribution, mean, and percentage. The Spearman Rank Order Correlation test was used to determine the relationship between social trust and the performance of dairy cattle farming. This study indicates that the is significant relationship between social trust and performance of dairy cattle farming. The indicators of social trust could influence an organization and its members to improve the performance of dairy cattle farming. This study also proposed some recommendation. The government agents should be more careful in their contacts with rural communities and should avoid activities that can reduce the level of trust. Key Words : social trust, dairy cattle farmer

    Farm Partnership between Farmers and the Company in Production and Marketing of Vegetables Commodity

    Farm partnership model between farmers and industries is expected to give advantages in many aspects such as economic, technical, and social. The research aims to analyze the farm partnership model between vegetable farmers and PT. Bumi Sari Lestari company. Primary data were collected using an interview. Secondary data were gotten by documentation. The data were analyzed by the analytical technique. The result shows that the type of partnership between farmers and the company is Inti-Plasma model based on Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) containing the clause if farmers were not able to provide sufficient vegetable, the company would buy directly from the market. The vegetables bought by the industry would be cultivated by the farmer and controlled by industry. There are many issues that have to be solved by the farmers and the company. First, farmers will choose a traditional ceremony instead of harvesting the plants. Hence, the vegetables will get rotten. Farmers will prefer to sell their vegetables to the market instead of bringing it to the company when the price gets high in the normal market. Vegetables will get rotten easily during the transportation process to the company. The last is the company needs to make an agreement with the farmers to decide optimal production based on the farm size in order to avoid over production.  JEL Classification: D19, J54, Q1

    PERAN KELOMPOK TANI TRANGGULASI TERHADAP PENERAPAN PERTANIAN SAYURAN ORGANIK

    ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi peran kelompok tani dan penerapan pertanian sayuran organik di kelompok tani Tranggulasi serta menganalisis pengaruh antara peran kelompok tani Tranggulasi terhadap penerapan pertanian sayuran organik. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kelompok tani Tranggulasi, Desa Batur pada tanggal Desember 2017. Metode penelitian yang digunakan metode survey, sampel ditentukan dengan kriteria anggota kelompok tani yang aktif dan memproduksi sayuran organik yang berjumlah 32 orang di kelompok tani Tranggulasi. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan wawancara menggunakan kuisioner. Analisis data menggunakan analisis deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kelas belajar dan unit produksi termasuk kategori sedang dengan presentase 59%, sedangkan wahana kerjasama termasuk kategori baik dengan presentase 91%. Penerapan pertanian sayuran organik termasuk kategori baik dengan presentase 81%. Berdasarkan uji F kelas belajar, wahana kerjasama, dan unit produksi, secara simultan berpengaruh terhadap penerapan pertanian sayuran organik. Secara parsial terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan untuk unit produksi dan wahana kerjasama, sedangkan untuk kelas belajar tidak terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan. Ketiga faktor tersebut mempengaruhi penerapan pertanian sayuran organik sebesar 31%, sisanya dipengaruhi oleh faktor lain.     ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kompetensi sumber daya manusia (SDM) pengrajin telur asin dan pengaruhnya terhadap kinerja usaha di Kabupaten Brebes. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan November 2016 - Februari 2017 di Kabupaten Brebes. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode survei dan termasuk kedalam jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Penentuan sampel menggunakan metode purposive sampling dengan karakteristik responden pengrajin telur asin yang sudah memiliki PIRT. Metode analisis data menggunakan regresi linear berganda dan secara deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, kompetensi SDM dan kinerja usaha pengrajin telur asin sama-sama berada pada kategori sedang. Secara simultan kompetensi SDM pengrajin telur asin berpengaruh nyata terhadap kinerja usaha. Secara parsial variabel pengetahuan, kemampuan dan keterampilan berpengaruh nyata, sedangkan sikap dan motivasi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kinerja usaha.     PENGARUH PERAN KELOMPOK TANI TERHADAP KESEJAHTERAAN PETANI KOPI DI KELOMPOK TANI RAHAYU IV KABUPATEN SEMARANG

    This research was focused to determine the effect of the farmer groups toward coffee farmer’s welfare and it have been conducted on July-August 2020 in Rahayu IV’s Farmer Group, Semarang Regency. This research was aimed to (1) analyze farmer groups role, consists of learning media, a vehicle for cooperation, production units, and business units in Rahayu IV’s Farmer Group, (2) analyze the welfare of Rahayu IV's Farmer Group members, and (3) analyze the influences of farmer groups role toward the farmer’s welfare in Semarang Regency. The location of this research was determined purposively because it was an active farmer group, doing coffee farming from upstream to downstream, and get a lot of achievements. Survey method was used in this research. The number of respondents was 32 respondents who were all members of Rahayu IV's Farmer Group. Primary data and secondary data were used in this research. The data analysis application used the SPSS 23.0 program. Data analysis used multiple linear regression analysis. The result showed that the farmer groups role, consist of learning media, cooperation, production units, and business units had been in line with expectations of farmer group members, most members were already economically and socially prosperous, and partially and simultaneously, there was an influence of farmer groups role towards farmer’s welfare.     Sikap dan Partisipasi Petani dalam Program Pelatihan Agribisnis Kedelai di Kabupaten Grobogan

    Farmers' welfare is the central point of agricultural development. Nevertheless, farmers still have many problems. One of the solutions from the government is through farmer empowerment programs. It aims to increase the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of farmers to develop more productive farming. Proper farmers' attitudes and participation in supporting the program are required. Therefore, this research was conducted to analyze the attitude and participation of farmers in the soybean agribusiness training program in the Grobogan Regency. The research used a case study method. The technique of determining respondents used the census method. Respondents to the research were 109 farmers who participated in the soybean agribusiness training program. The data was collected by using a questionnaire, interview, observation, and literature study. Descriptive analysis and the Likert scale were used to analyze the data. Overall, the research results showed that the attitude of farmers to the soybean agribusiness training program is in a "good" category. The attitude of farmers in the soybean agribusiness training program was seen from three indicators, 1) cognitive, 2) affective, and 3) psychomotor. In addition, the participation of farmers in soybean agribusiness training programs has been maximized and is classified in the high category. This condition showed that farmers were active in the implementation of soybean agribusiness training programs. Farmers were not only active in asking questions but actively giving opinions based on their experiences. So that farmers were able to understand and applied the material that the facilitator had given.Kesejahteraan petani merupakan titik sentral pembangunan pertanian. Namun pada kenyataannya petani masih memiliki banyak masalah. Salah satu solusi dari pemerintah adalah melalui program pemberdayaan petani. Hal ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, sikap, dan keterampilan para petani sehingga dapat mengembangkan usaha tani yang lebih produktif. Untuk mendukung program tersebut diperlukan sikap dan partisipasi yang tinggi dari petani. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis sikap dan partisipasi petani dalam program pelatihan agribisnis kedelai di Kabupaten Grobogan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi kasus. Teknik penentuan responden menggunakan metode sensus. Responden penelitian ini adalah 109 petani yang mengikuti program pelatihan agribisnis kedelai. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner, wawancara, observasi dan studi kepustakaan. Analisis deskriptif dan skala likert digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sikap petani terhadap program pelatihan agribisnis kedelai berada pada kategori baik. Sikap petani dalam program pelatihan agribisnis kedelai dilihat dari tiga indikator, 1) kognitif, 2) afektif, dan 3) psikomotorik. Selain itu, partisipasi petani dalam program pelatihan agribisnis kedelai sudah maksimal dan tergolong dalam kategori tinggi. Kondisi ini menujukkan bahwa petani aktif dalam pelaksanaan program pelatihan agribisnis kedelai. Keaktifan petani bukan hanya bertanya melainkan aktif memberikan pendapat berdasarkan pengalaman yang dimiliki.     SATISFACTION LEVEL OF RICE FARMERS TOWARD PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM WITH CORPORATE LOGISTICS (PERUM BULOG) IN SEMARANG CITY, INDONESIA

    The phenomenon of farmers selling their harvest has become a common thing. Solutions that can be offered are partnerships. Agricultural partnerships are expected to solve farmers' problems through facilitating product marketing. Partnerships between farmers and partner companies were sought out with cooperation agreements. This study aims to analyze important attributes related to the partnership program, and measure the level of farmer satisfaction with the partnership of Perum BULOG Semarang Branch Office. The study was carried out at the Ngudi Rejeki Gapoktan, Kendal Regency in November – December 2021. This study used a census, with a total of 110 farmers as respondents. The data collection method was interview. The type of data used were primary and secondary. Data analysis used were Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI). The results show that the main priorities needed by farmers were guidance on the quality of harvests, assistance for harvest, guidance to improve farmers' capability, Perum BULOG provides a forum for continuous discussion, easy access to harvest delivery, and get shipping compensation. The result of CSI calculation was 65.1%, which indicated that farmers were satisfied with the performance of Perum BULOG Semarang Branch Office. However, there are a number of things that trigger farmers' dissatisfaction, including the increase in agricultural production prices, while the selling price of farmers' harvests is not always the same, the lack of communication between Gapoktan and Perum BULOG Semarang Branch Office, and the the price of HPP is still low

    The Function of Credit Scheme to Improve Family Income among Beef Cattle Farmers in Central Java Province

    Abstract The aims of study were: (i) identify of beef cattle fattening credit scheme, (ii) calculating and analyze of beef cattle farmers' income, (iii) analyze of factors influencing beef cattle credit scheme towards farmer's income. The research was held in five regencies in Central Java Province. Beef cattle fattening farm was standardized as an elementary unit. Survey method was used, while Two Stage Cluster Purposive Sampling was used for determining of sample. Data were analyzed using statistical method of quantitative descriptive and inferential statistics in term of income analysis and multiple linear regression models. The result showed that farmers used their own capital to run the farm. The average amount was IDR 10,769,871. Kredit Ketahanan Pangan dan Energi was credit scheme which was dominantly access by farmers. The average credit was IDR 23,312,200/farmer with rate of credit equal to 6.46%, the time of credit returning equal to 24.60 monthand the prediction of average collateral equal to IDR 35,800,00. The average of farmers' income was IDR 4,361,611.60/2.96 head of beef cattle/fattening period. If the labour cost did not calculate as a cost production, hence the farmer' income was IDR 7,608,630.41 or in other word the farmer' income increase 74.44%. Factors of credit scheme which partially significant influence to the farmers' income were number of own capital usage and value of credit collateral. Meanwhile, name of credit scheme, financing institution as a creditor, amount of credit, rate of credit scheme and time of returning credit were not significantly influence towards farmers' income

    SUSTAINABILITY ANALYSIS OF ONION CULTIVATION IN DEMAK DISTRICT, CENTRAL JAVA PROVINCE

    Sustainable agriculture on a global scale is no exception in Demak Regency which aims to improve food productivity and has positive side effects on goods, services and the environment. Sustainable agriculture indicators vary from region to region. The purpose of this study was to determine the income and profitability and sustainability of shallot farming. The samples taken in this study were 175 shallot farmers respondent. The research method used is a survey method with three data analyses, namely income and profitability analysis and Structural Equational Modeling (SEM) analysis with the AMOS program. The results showed that the income of shallot farmers in Mijen District, Demak Regency was Rp119,319,173 per planting season with an average land area of 7,600 m2. The profitability value is 159.35%, indicating that the profitability of shallot farming is much higher than bank deposit rates, which means that this business is feasible to develop. SEM analysis shows that the exogenous variables of respondent characteristics and production input factors have a positive and significant effect on farming performance. Furthermore, exogenous environmental, social, economic and institutional variables have a positive effect on sustainability, while technological variables have no significant effect on sustainability variables. Agricultural performance has a positive relationship with sustainable agriculture. Farmers' knowledge of the use of technology in cultivation activities needs to be increased for the success of sustainable agriculture in each indicator

    Analysis of development factors of jasmine flower (Jasminum sambac L.) commodity on farmers in Batang Regency, Central Java

    This research aims to: 1) analyze productivity level of jasmine flower agribusiness, and 2) analyze factors which influence the development of jasmine flower agribusiness in Batang Regency. The research was conducted by survey and observation methods. The research sites were determined by purposive sampling method, based on the regional potential of the district which develops jasmine flower agribusiness, namely Kandeman district and Batang district. 63 farmers were selected as respondents by quota sampling. Primary data were collected by interview based on the prepared questionnaire. Secondary data were obtained from Agencies and other Offices which are related to the subject of the research. The data in this study are presented in descriptive and statistical analysis. The productivity of jasmine flower was analyzed based on the average land area and production, whereas the analysis of development factors of jasmine flower agribusiness was analyzed using multiple linear regression model with production of jasmine flower as the dependent variable (Y) and age (X1), education background (X2), number of dependents (X3), business experience (X4) of farmers, land area (X5), cropping pattern (X6), land status (X7), production goal (X8), production period (X9), and selling price (X10) as independent factors. The results showed that the average land area was 0.499 ha/farmer with production capacity of 2,793.86 kg/annum, or a productivity rate of 5,598.92 kg/ha. Taken together, factor (X1) to factor (X10) has a very significant effect (P <0.01) on the development of jasmine flower agribusiness, while the land area (P <0.01) and the selling price of jasmine flowers (P <0 , 10) has a partial influence on the development of jasmine flower agribusiness. These results indicate that the development of jasmine flower agribusiness needs to take into account technical, social and economic factors
