Els lliberts barcelonis del segle XV a través dels seus testaments
The work that we present treats on the freedmen of the XVth century Barcelona. The information used to realize this work has been obtained from the notarial documentation preserved in several archives in Barcelona, to be exact through the freedmen testaments. Through this documentation we observe that once this group obtained the freedom, it became completely integrated in its new society. The freedmen turned into full right citizens from all the points of view. The work that we present treats on the freedmen of the XVth century Barcelona. Les confraries de lliberts negres a la Corona Catalanoaragonesa
Medieval societies were divided into several units where individuals were fit to join. The working scope with guilds, marriage, implying the formation of a family, or spiritual
brotherhoods related to the working associations, or with a more general assistance purpose, were the areas where men and women fitted in to join the society. The freed slaves who did not return to their lands of origin were to join Barcelona’s society through these units. Two examples of the integration process through religious brotherhoods, were those that freed black people of Barcelona and Valencia created to facilitate the practice of their devotion. After comparing the texts of the ordinances of both guilds, it was easy to see how such institutions were organized, with the particularity that these were mostly built by former slaves from both cities
The importance of the multidisciplinary approach to deal with the new epidemiological scenario of Chagas disease (global health)
There are currently two major factors that have modified the
epidemiology of Chagas disease in the last decades: climate
change and migration flows. In this new scenario, there are new
challenges to control and prevent Trypanosoma cruzi infection in
endemic countries, such as the control of a wider distribution
of triatomine vectors or the reinforcement of vertical
transmission programs. In non-endemic areas, few countries are
aware of the emergence of this new disease and have established
changes in their health systems. To address this new public
health challenge, the priorities should be control programs to
avoid new cases of T. cruzi infection acquired through vertical
transmission, blood transfusion or organ transplant. In both,
endemic and non-endemic areas, the international community and
all the actors involved in Chagas disease must join efforts
mainly in two directions: better management of the infection in
affected individuals and more research to cover the knowledge
gap mainly in physiopathology, diagnosis and treatment
Experimental and predicted vapour-liquid equilibrium of the binary mixtures n-heptane + chlorobutane isomers
The study of the isothermal vapour-liquid equilibrium (VLE) of the binary mixtures n-heptane plus chlorobutane isomers (1-chlorobutane, 2-chlorobutane, 1-chloro-2-methylpropane or 2-chloro-2-methylpropane) at three different temperatures, T = 288.15, 298.15 and 308.15 K, is presented in this contribution. The experimental results were correlated using Wilson equation and the thermodynamic consistency of the data was checked by the van Ness method. Furthermore, two different methods have been used to predict the phase equilibrium in isothermal conditions: a pure group contribution method (modified-UNIFAC) and a group contribution equation of state (VTPR)
This paper focuses on the role of mathematical modelling in first year courses of experimental sciences university degrees. Within the frame of the Anthropological Theory of the Didactic, we propose the design and implementation of «Study and Research Courses» as a new didactic device having a double purpose: making students aware of the rationale of the mathematical contents they have to learn, and connecting these contents through the study of open modelling questions that can «cover» the main contents of the official mathematical syllabi, giving a clear functionality to its contents
