In the literature, several sets of VVV have been used, aiming at reducing harmonic content while maintaining a low computational burden. This paper proposes the use of different sets of VVV to regulate the stator current of multi-phase drives using finite-state model predictive controllers. In the proposal, only one set is active at each control period. This active set is obtained through a preliminary analysis using performance maps. As a result, a method is derived for the online selection using the current operating point. The selection is based on a simple computation from variables usually measured on variable-speed drives. Results are provided for a symmetrical six-phase IM, showing that the proposal improves the closed-loop performance of the multi-phase drive with a low computational cost

Animation as an advertising resource. Analysis from a gender perspective

    Get PDF
This work seeks to analyse, from a gender perspective, the use of animation in advertising. To that end, this qualitative study, of an exploratory and descriptive nature, uses content analysis as an approach tool. Based on an analysis sheet composed of 25 indicators, the analysis adopts a triple approach: narratological, advertising and gender. The sample comprises 22 spots which use animation to advertise products or services, aimed to youth and/or adult targets. The results from the three levels of analysis affirm the use of animation as an important factor driven by the desire of creative professionals to evoke a wide range of emotions. Although most of the advertisements aim to convey product-related knowledge, some of them also aim to influence the audience’s attitudes, promoting inclusion, awareness of diversity or respect for gender equality, while others reproduce sexist situations. To some extent, these last spots perpetuate sexism in advertising by using animation representing what could not be shown with live actors

Self-Association and Stereoselectivity in a Chiral Liquid-Crystal Colesteric Polymer Formed under Achiral Conditions

A cholesteric, chiral, liquid-crystal polyester PTOBEE [C26H20O8]n, synthesized from the racemic mixture of their starting materials, showed an unexpected stereoselective separation of polymer units which incorporate a higher excess of one enantiomer at the expenses of the other when the polycondensation reaction products are decanted into a large excess of toluene. An NMR diffusion study of PTOBEE obtained for a sample with 67% enantiomeric excess (ee) showed the formation of a complex by self-association of several polymer units with an unexpected higher tendency of the complex to be formed when the sample is further diluted. Cross saturation transferred NMR experiments showed the high stability of this complex and provided evidence of slow exchange equilibrium with the single polymer unit. The results suggest that both effects, the enantiomeric excess obtained after decantation in toluene, which was higher in the second fraction of the precipitate, and the high tendency of the complex formation in diluted samples of this polymer could be related. Polymer units incorporating a certain excess of one of the enantiomers could result in a privileged spatial geometry of the substituents which favors its self- aggregation, resulting in its precipitation during the synthetic process at two different kinetic rates.Peer reviewe

Evolutionary Gaps Stator Current Control of Multi-phase Drives Balancing Harmonic Content

    Get PDF
Multiphase machines are increasingly used in research and industry applications due to their inherent advantages. Stator current control is a common strategy for this type of systems. The most important issue it must face is regulation of currents in the torque producing plane and the harmonic plane. For this task, finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) constitutes an interesting alternative to methods using modulation. However, the implementation of FCS-MPC is characterized by a high computational demand, limiting the sampling frequency. This work proposes a predictive algorithm that needs less computation time. As a result, the sampling period can be reduced while producing predictive control. This brings about several benefits resulting from improved current tracking. The proposed method avoids the combinatorial optimization phase of standard FCS-MPC, which is the most time-consuming part. The algorithm is based on physical insights obtained from the application of FCS-MPC to multiphase drives leading to the concept of evolutionary gaps regions. The experimental results for a five-phase motor demonstrate improved performance. Moreover, the method is flexible enough to balance the tradeoff appearing between the torque producing plane and the harmonic plane.Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación TED2021-129558B-C22 PID2021-125189OBI0

Numerical Investigation on the Effect of Active Injection Location on the Frequency Response of a Batchelor Vortex.

    Get PDF
This study investigates the effect of the variation of the active control application distance on the frequency response of a Batchelor vortex. The theoretical base flow pertains to the experimental configuration of a wing model with a NACA0012 airfoil at an angle of attack of α=9◦ and a chordbased Reynolds number of Rec=40000. The injection was implemented using punctual and annular jet configurations. The findings of this research will serve as a basis for the optimization of the experimental parameters that characterize potential candidates for active control.Universidad de Málaga. Frequency response of Batchelor vortex.

We carried out a frequency response analysis of Batchelor vortex model in two different spatial configurations: punctual and annular jet. The theoretical base flow corresponds to the experimental setting of a wing model with airfoil NACA0012 for a chord-based Reynolds number Rec=40000 and angle of attack of α=9◦. We found that Batchelor model presents a gain in the annular jet configuration higher than the punctual jet for a pair of parameters k and ωf . The results of this research work will be used to propose future candidates of active control.Universidad de Málaga. Campus de Excelencia Internacional Andalucía Tech. We sequenced the sporophyte transcriptome of Killarney fern (Vandenboschia speciosa (Willd.) G. Kunkel). In addition to being a rare endangered Macaronesian-European endemism, this species has a huge genome (10.52 Gb) as well as particular biological features and extreme ecological requirements. These characteristics, together with the systematic position of ferns among vascular plants, make it of high interest for evolutionary, conservation and functional genomics studies. The transcriptome was constructed de novo and contained 36,430 transcripts, of which 17,706 had valid BLAST hits. A total of 19,539 transcripts showed at least one of the 7362 GO terms assigned to the transcriptome, whereas 6547 transcripts showed at least one of the 1359 KEGG assigned terms. A prospective analysis of functional annotation results provided relevant insights on genes involved in important functions such as growth and development as well as physiological adaptations. In this context, a catalogue of genes involved in the genetic control of plant development, during the vegetative to reproductive transition, in stress response as well as genes coding for transcription factors is given. Altogether, this study provides a first step towards understanding the gene expression of a significant fern species and the in silico functional and comparative analyses reported here provide important data and insights for further comparative evolutionary studies in ferns and land plants in general.Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad and FEDER founds, grant: CGL2010-14856 (subprograma BOS)
