    Two-dimensional non commutative Swanson model and its bicoherent states

    We introduce an extended version of the Swanson model, defined on a two-dimensional non commutative space, which can be diagonalized exactly by making use of pseudo-bosonic operators. Its eigenvalues are explicitly computed and the biorthogonal sets of eigenstates of the Hamiltonian and of its adjoint are explicitly constructed. We also show that it is possible to construct two displacement-like operators from which a family of bi-coherent states can be obtained. These states are shown to be eigenstates of the deformed lowering operators, and their projector allows to produce a suitable resolution of the identity in a dense subspace of \Lc^2(\Bbb R^2)

    Graph neural network for track reconstruction in space experiments

    Development of tracking algorithm with deep learning techniques A range of models inspired by computer vision applications were investigated, which operated on data from tracking detectors in a format resembling images [A deep learning method for the trajectory reconstruction of cosmic rays with the DAMPE mission, Andrii Tykhonov et al,Astroparticle Physics 146, April 2023, 102795 102795]. Although these approaches demonstrated potential, image-based methods encountered difficulties in adapting to the scale of realistic data, primarily due to the high dimensionality and sparsity of the data. Tracking data are naturally represented as graph by identifying hits as nodes and tracks segments as (in general) directed edges. So that, we have explored the use of geometric deep learning techniques. Specifically, we have developed an algorithm that leverages the Graph Neural Network approach, which is a subset of geometric deep learning. This approach has been applied to the task of track reconstruction in a simplified model of space experiments. The details of our toy model simulations, the algorithm's development process, and the preliminary results are described in the accompanying slides

    A Phenomenological Operator Description of Dynamics of Crowds: Escape Strategies

    We adopt an operatorial method, based on creation, annihilation and number operators, to describe one or two populations mutually interacting and moving in a two--dimensional region. In particular, we discuss how the two populations, contained in a certain two-dimensional region with a non--trivial topology, react when some alarm occurs. We consider the cases of both low and high densities of the populations, and discuss what is changing as the strength of the interaction increases. We also analyze what happens when the region has either a single exit or two ways out

    Pre-check Security Processes in Selected Brazil Airports- Changes and Gains

    The recommendation of this Research Project is to implement the precheck program at 10 Airports in Brazil with more than 5 million passengers a year. The passengers’ satisfaction, security improvement and OPEX savings would be a reality. The expectation of OPEX savings at these 10 Airports are R3.360.000,00peryear,(US 3.360.000,00 per year, (US 634.000,00) due to the possibility of using the current infrastructure and yet, reduce one Protection Agent per inspection module, per airport. The research topic was to understand the feasibility of implementing the precheck security process in Brazil Airports. Using the U.S. benchmark, and the current Brazilian legislation, GYN Airport (3.2 million passengers per year) was used to measure the current standard inspection time and to simulate a controlled precheck inspection. 402 passengers were observed in the standard process. This sample size had an average of 66.9 seconds of inspection time. The precheck simulation had an average of 16.7 seconds, considering a sample of 59 volunteers. One of the most stressful processes in the Airport experience is the Security Inspection. Huge lines, removal of personal items and pat down are examples of what makes the process a moment of anxiety, besides the worry of missing the flight. To expedite this process the TSA PreCheck® was created. Considering a risk assignment of the applicants, the precheck guarantees a major benefit of waiting less than 5 minutes in line. In addition, the precheck passengers do not need to remove shoes, laptops, liquids, belts, and light jackets. The program has 11 million passengers registered in the U.S, representing 6.8% of the air travelers. There is no program like this in Brazil

    Perinatal outcomes in twin late preterm pregnancies: results from an Italian area-based, prospective cohort study

    Background Multiple gestations represent a considerable proportion of pregnancies delivering in the late preterm (LP) period. Only 30% of LP twins are due to spontaneous preterm labor and 70% are medically indicated; among this literature described that 16-50% of indicated LP twin deliveries are non-evidence based. As non-evidence-based delivery indications account for iatrogenic morbidity that could be prevented, the objective of our observational study is to investigate first neonatal outcomes of LP twin pregnancies according to gestational age at delivery, chorionicity and delivery indication, then non evidence-based delivery indications. Methods Prospective cohort study among twins infants born between 34 + 0 and 36 + 6 weeks, in Emilia Romagna, Italy, during 2013-2015. The primary outcome was a composite of adverse perinatal outcomes. Results Among 346 LP twins, 84 (23.4%) were monochorionic and 262 (75.7%) were dichorionic; spontaneous preterm labor accounted for 85 (24.6%) deliveries, preterm prelabor rupture of membranes for 66 (19.1%), evidence based indicated deliveries were 117 (33.8%), while non-evidence-based indications were 78 (22.5%). When compared to spontaneous preterm labor or preterm prelabor rupture of membranes, pregnancies delivered due to maternal and/or fetal indications were associated with higher maternal age (p < 0.01), higher gestational age at delivery (p < 0.01), Caucasian race (p 0.04), ART use (p < 0.01), gestational diabetes (p < 0.01), vaginal bleeding (p < 0.01), antenatal corticosteroids (p < 0.01), diagnosis of fetal growth restriction (FGR) (p < 0.01), and monochorionic (p < 0.01). Two hundred twenty-six pregnancies (65.3%) had at least one fetus experiencing one composite of adverse perinatal outcome. Multivariate analysis confirmed that delivery indication did not affect the composite of adverse perinatal outcomes; the only characteristic that affect the outcome after controlling for confounding was gestational age at delivery (p < 0.01). Moreover, there was at least one adverse neonatal outcome for 94% of babies born at 34 weeks, for 73% of those born at 35 weeks and for 46% of those born at 36 weeks (p < 0.01). Conclusion Our study suggests that the decision to deliver or not twins in LP period should consider gestational age at delivery as the main determinant infants' prognosis. Delivery indications should be accurately considered, to avoid iatrogenic early birth responsible of preventable complications

    RELATION BETWEEN MATERNAL THROMBOPHILIA AND STILLBIRTH ACCORDING TO CAUSES/ASSOCIATED CONDITIONS OF DEATH

    OBJECTIVE: To investigate maternal thrombophilia in cases of Stillbirth (SB), also an uncertain topic because most case series were not characterised for cause/associated conditions of death. STUDY DESIGN: In a consecutive, prospective, multicentre design, maternal DNA was obtained in 171 cases of antenatal SB and 326 controls (uneventful pregnancy at term, 1:2 ratio). Diagnostic work-up of SB included obstetric history, neonatologist inspection, placenta histology, autopsy, microbiology/chromosome evaluations. Results audited in each centre were classified by two of us by using CoDAC. Cases were subdivided into explained SB where a cause of death was identified and although no defined cause was detected in the remnants, 64 cases found conditions associated with placenta-vascular disorders (including preeclampsia, growth restriction and placenta abruption - PVD). In the remnant 79 cases, no cause of death or associated condition was found. Antithrombin activity, Factor V Leiden, G20210A Prothrombin mutation (FII mutation) and acquired thrombophilia were analysed. RESULTS: Overall, the presence of a thrombophilic defect was significantly more prevalent in mothers with SBs compared to controls. In particular, SB mothers showed an increased risk of carrying Factor II mutation (OR=3.2, 95\% CI: 1.3-8.3, p=0.01), namely in unexplained cases. Such mutation was significantly associated also with previous SB (OR=8.9, 95\%CI 1.2-70.5). At multiple logistic regression, Factor II mutation was the only significantly associated variable with SB (adj OR=3.8, 95\% CI: 1.3-13.5). CONCLUSION: These data suggest that Factor II mutation is the only condition specifically associated with unexplained SB and could represents a risk of recurrence. PVD-associated condition is unrelated to thrombophilia

    Is legal protection sufficient to ensure plant conservation? The Italian Red List of policy species as a case study

    The conservation of species listed in the Bern Convention and European Directive 1992/43/EEC (so-called policy species) is mandatory for European Union (EU) countries. We assessed the conservation status of Italian policy species, based on the IUCN categories and criteria, to evaluate the effectiveness of existing protection measures at the national level. Among the 203 vascular plants, bryophytes and lichens evaluated, 41.9% are categorized as threatened, and one is already extinct, indicating that the protection measures for policy species are inadequate. Our results for the Italian policy species are consistent with those of an assessment at the EU level. Conservation priorities should be established at both the national and regional scales. An effective conservation strategy is needed, and in situ and ex situ actions focused on threatened species should be promoted
