Figuring Out the Aztecs Milla Gardioloa, Dept. of Sociology, with Dr. Bernard Means, Dept. of Anthropology This project looks at various Mesoamerican artwork with a strong focus on Aztec figurines and sculptures. I take a closer look at the meaning behind the figurines and their importance to Aztec cultures. With religion being an important aspect in Mesoamerican culture, I explore a few Aztec deities and explain who they are and how they are worshiped in their everyday life. The Abbreviation Wakamono Kotoba at Comic “Gals!” Volume 1

This comiccontainingwakamonokotoba's expressions for experiencingthe abbreviation.The analysisperformed usingtheidentification of wakamonokotoba'sabbreviation, according totheabbreviationtabulationanddescription of the results. Elastic properties, thermal stability, and thermodynamic parameters of MoAlB

MoAlB is the first and, so far, the only transition-metal boride that forms alumina when heated in air and is thus potentially useful for high-temperature applications. Herein, the thermal stability in argon and vacuum atmospheres and the thermodynamic parameters of bulk polycrystalline MoAlB were investigated experimentally. At temperatures above 1708 K, in vacuum and inert atmospheres, this compound incongruently melts into the binary MoB and liquid aluminum metal as confirmed by differential thermal analysis, quenching experiments, x-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy. Making use of that information together with heat-capacity measurements in the 4–1000-K temperature range—successfully modeled as the sum of lattice, electronic, and dilation contributions—the standard enthalpy, entropy, and free energy of formation are computed and reported for the full temperature range. The standard enthalpy of formation of MoAlB at 298 K was found to be −132±3.2 kJ/mol. Lastly, the thermal conductivity values are computed and modeled using a variation of the Slack model in the 300–1600-K temperature range

Etude de propriétés mécaniques d'aciers HSLA obtenus par CSP, en relation avec les textures, microstructures et changements de phase

Not availableLe procédé CSP (Compact Strip Production) permet l'élaboration d'aciers HLSA (High Strength Low Alloy) par coulée continue. Dans ce procédé, les propriétés des aciers en phase ferritique dépendent de l'état métallurgique de l'austénité à haute température par l'intermédiaire de la transformation de phase. Les relations entre texture, microstructure et propriétés mécaniques ont été étudiées. Outre la densité de joints de grains, la présence d'éléments microstructuraux fins (précipités, dislocations) a une grande influence sur la limite d'élasticité. L'anisotropie de la limite d'élasticité a été simulée à l'aide d'un modèle de déformation plastique (modèle de Taloyr). Ceci nous a permis d'interpréter qualitativement la faible anisotropie de la limite d'élasticité

Abreviasi Wakamono Kotoba dalam Komik “Gals!” Volume 1.

Wakamono kotoba merupakan bahasa yang digunakan oleh anak muda Jepang dalam berkomunikasi dengan teman. Salah satu karakteristik dari wakamono kotoba adalah abreviasi. Abreviasi dilakukan untuk mempermudah pelafalan kata yang panjang, kerahasiaan, serta menguatkan rasa kesetiakawanan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui (1) Apa saja wakamono kotoba yang mengalami abreviasi kata dalam komik Gals! volume 1 (2) bagaimana proses pembentukan wakamono kotoba yang mengalami abreviasi dalam komik Gals! volume 1. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang diteliti adalah komik Gals! volume 1 yang memuat wakamono kotoba , khususnya yang mengalami abreviasi. Analisis dilakukan dengan melakukan identifikasi abreviasi pada wakamono kotoba , tabulasi sesuai dengan proses abreviasi dan deskripsi hasil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) dari 35 wakamono kotoba yang mengalami abreviasi, 17 kata tergolong tanshiki shouryaku, 11 kata tergolong fukushiki shouryaku dan 8 kata bentuk perkecualian, (2) pada tanshiki shouryaku ditemukan proses abreviasi jouryaku , chuuryaku , geryaku , (3) dalam fukushiki shouryaku ditemukan, fukushiki shouryaku yang terbentuk dari dua kata gabungan dan tiga kata gabungan, (4) sedangkan bentuk perkecualian terdapat 3 pola teridentifikasi, yaitu singkatan atau toujigo , kata yang sama memiliki dua bentuk kependekan yang berbeda, kependekan dengan bentukan sebelumnya berbeda. Penulis menyarankan untuk penelitian selanjutnya agar mengangkat topik wakamono kot oba dari segi penulisan atau analisis kontrastif sakasa kotoba bahasa Jepang dengan bahasa Malangan. Disarankan pula agar menggunakan sumber penutur asli bahasa Jepang sehingga penelitian yang dihasilkan lebih nyata
