Students' challenges to engage with a thesis development based on a critical thinking analysis: LEI-BUAP

"A thesis is a long-written work where students demonstrate their capacity to identify a topic of their interest, explore it in-depth, and produce original research on their own with the guidance of a supervisor. It is perhaps the first and last opportunity to experiment and learn to carry out these kinds of academic papers and its development may be meaningful for their professional development; however, it is no longer the preferred method to graduate. Even though there are studies on the field, most of them are focused on the development of graduate theses and in other study areas different from English teaching. So, this thesis will explain why Students face challenges to engage with a thesis development based on Critical thinking analysis at the Licenciatura en la Enseñaza del Inglés (LEI) at BUAP. This thesis is a qualitative study where the data will be collected by interviewing ten students of LEI to get their beliefs to analyze the factors that influence their decision to elaborate a thesis as a graduation modality. Results will be analyzed using critical thinking to distinguish factors that contribute to the students’ performance in conducting academic research "

Spherically symmetric solution in a space-time with torsion

By using the method of group analysis, we obtain a new exact evolving and spherically symmetric solution of the Einstein-Cartan equations of motion, corresponding to a space-time threaded with a three-form Kalb-Ramond field strength. The solution describes in its more generic form, a space-time which scalar curvature vanishes for large distances and for large time. In static conditions, it reduces to a classical wormhole solution and to a exact solution with a localized scalar field and a torsion kink, already reported in literature. Acompanhamento da construção de três moradias unifamiliares: a prespetiva do dono de obra

Trabalho final de Mestrado para a obtenção do grau de Mestre em Engenharia CivilO presente relatório refere-se ao estágio realizado no âmbito do Trabalho Final de Mestrado do curso de Engenharia Civil do Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa, que teve a duração de 8 meses na empresa Andarvit, Lda, e tem como principal objetivo descobrir as semelhanças do modo de direção de obra com o conceito de Lean Construction. Na sua elaboração pretendeu-se abordar a génese do conceito de Lean Construction, bem como ilustrar os tipos de desperdício existentes no setor da construção, as suas causas e os seus efeitos. O estágio consistiu no acompanhamento diário da obra de remodelação e construção de 3 moradias unifamiliares, com o objetivo de observar o modelo de gestão de obra. No decorrer deste estágio foram observados comportamentos que na sua maioria coincidem com o método de gestão Lean, para além do acompanhamento presencial da obra por parte da gerência das entidades intervenientes. É mostrado ainda o resultado final da obra, bem como as dificuldades e imprevistos que se encontraram no decorrer dos trabalhos.Abstract: The present report mentions the period of training to it carried through in the framework of the Master’s Final Work of the course of Civil Engineering of the Superior Institute of Engineering of Lisbon, that had the duration of 8 months in the company Andarvit, Lda, and had as main objective to discover the similarities of project managing within the company with the concept of Lean Construction. Its redaction was intended to address the genesis of the concept of Lean Construction as well as illustrate the types of waste in the construction sector, its causes and its effects. The internship consisted of the daily monitoring of the work of remodeling and construction of 3 city houses, in order to observe the construction management model. During this stage behaviors were observed that mostly coincide with the Lean Managementmethod, in addition to monitoring the work front by the management of the entities involved. It is also shown the final result of the work, as well as the difficulties and unforeseen events that were met during the work
