Integrating information regarding planning, decisions and processes within a focal company and between companies is a primary challenge for many organizations. Both internal (among business functions) and external (between suppliers and customers) integration aim to maximize the value added to customers and to minimize the required efforts involved in integration. However, identifying which activities demand a higher level of integration among business functions and what the possible results are is not always easy to understand, both within the organization and among their relationships. The purpose of this paper is therefore to understand the integration between Logistics and Production in supplier relationship management (SRM) by performing a systematic literature review. A systematic literature review was conducted as a research method of this paper, followed by a critical analysis of the selected works in order to thoroughly identify how these functions participate in the main activities of the SRM process. As a result, it was realized that integrating Logistics and Production may contribute to supplier relationship management by sharing information on strategic supply specifications (time and sequence) and also by improving the flow of information/materials to meet quality, quantity, cost and time requirements for the customer

Rabies virus samples (n = 17) isolated from bovines (n = 11), equines (n = 4) and buffalo (n = 2) from Pará State (n = 7), Tocantins (n = 6) and Rondônia (n = 4) were submitted to RT-PCR in order to obtain partial sequences of nucleoprotein (N) and glycoprotein gene (G). Nucleotide sequences were analyzed using Neighbor-Joining model, Kimura 2-parameters evolutionary model. All the 17 samples analyzed were related to cluster A, lineage associated with the hematophagous bat Desmodus rotundus. The phylogenetic analysis based on the N and G genes, suggests the presence of five sub-lineages (A1-A5), while G gene showed seven sub-lineages (A1-A7). In both phylogenies, sublineages A1 to A3 exhibit a similar composition and geographic distribution. Diverse composition of remaining groups of N and G gene is attributable to different sequences used in the alignments for each genomic region. Glycoprotein amino acid sequence showed molecular markers in sub-lineages A2, A3, A4 and A7. This information provides a better comprehension of molecular epidemiology of rabies, starting with the knowledge of viral lineages circulating in the Brazilian Amazon

[Abstract] Objective: To measure the prevalence of various care services offered to the elderly with diabetes mellitus in Brazil, and to assess the social inequalities in these services. Methods: This cross-sectional, population-based study was carried out in 2013. The care services offered were evaluated in terms of the following eight indicators: recommendations to lower carbohydrates, to measure blood glucose, and to examine the feet; requests made for blood tests, for glycated hemoglobin tests, and for glycemic curve tests; and whether service users had had their eyes or feet examined in the previous year. We used the slope index of inequality and the concentration index to assess the inequalities among wealth quintiles. Results: A total of 1 685 elderly persons with diabetes were evaluated. Overall, 41.7% of them had had their eyes examined in the preceding year, 35.4% had had their feet examined in the preceding year, and 10.9% had been offered all eight of the care services. The largest absolute differences (in percentage points) between the first (poorest) and fifth (richest) wealth quintiles in terms of the care services that were offered to the users were for: a recommendation to measure blood glucose (25.8), a glycated hemoglobin test request (27.4), a glycemic curve test request (31.9), having the eyes examined in the preceding year (29.3), and having the feet examined in the preceding year (27.0). Conclusion: There were notable inequalities in the prevalences of the care services.

Enhanced efficacy of endonuclease inhibitor baloxavir acid against orthobunyaviruses when used in combination with ribavirin

OBJECTIVES: Baloxavir acid is an endonuclease inhibitor approved for use against influenza. We evaluated whether this compound also targets the endonuclease domain of orthobunyaviruses and therefore could potentially be used against orthobunyavirus infections. METHODS: We performed a thermal shift assay and a fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based nuclease monitoring assay using the La Crosse virus (LACV) endonuclease and baloxavir acid to prove their interaction and identify an inhibitory effect. Their interaction was further studied in a docking simulation using Glide SP. We show that baloxavir acid inhibits the viral replication of Bunyamwera virus (BUNV)-mCherry in vitro using high-content imaging and virus yield assay. Lastly, we investigated the use of baloxavir acid in combination with ribavirin in vitro by implementing the Zero Interaction Potency response surface model. RESULTS: We show that baloxavir acid augments LACV enzyme's melting temperature with ΔTm 9.5 ± 0.4°C and inhibited substrate cleavage with IC50 0.39 ± 0.03 μM. Moreover, our docking simulation suggests that baloxavir acid is able to establish an efficient binding with the LACV endonuclease. In the cell-based assay, we observed that baloxavir acid and ribavirin inhibited BUNV-mCherry with an EC50 of 0.7 ± 0.2 μM and 26.6 ± 8.9 μM, respectively. When used in combination, we found a maximum synergistic effect of 8.64. CONCLUSIONS: The influenza endonuclease inhibitor baloxavir acid is able to bind to and interfere with the endonuclease domain of orthobunyaviruses and yields a more potent antiviral effect than ribavirin against BUNV-mCherry. The combination of both compounds results in a more potent antiviral effect, suggesting that these molecules could potentially be combined to treat orthobunyavirus-infected patients.status: publishe

With the objective to establish the best metabolizable energy (ME) intake for layers, and the best dietary vegetable oil addition level to optimize egg production, an experiment was carried out with 432 30-week-old Hisex Brown layers. Birds were distributed into nine treatments with six replicates of eight birds each according to a 3 x 3 factorial arrangement, consisting of three daily metabolizable energy intake (280, 300 or 320 kcal/bird/day) and three oil levels (0.00; 0.75 and 1.50 g/bird/day). Daily feed intake was limited to 115, 110 and 105 g/bird in order to obtain the desired energy and oil intake in each treatment. The following parameters were evaluated: initial weight, final weight, body weight change, egg production, egg mass, feed conversion ratio per dozen eggs and per egg mass and energy conversion. There was no influence of the treatments on egg production (%) or egg mass (g/bird/day). Final weight and body weight change were significantly affected by increasing energy intake. Feed conversion ratio per egg mass, feed conversion ratio per dozen eggs and energy conversion significantly worsened as a function of the increase in daily energy intake. An energy intake of 280 kcal/bird/day with no addition of dietary oil does not affect layer performance
