Estimate of CP Violation for the LBNE Project and $\delta_{CP}
Measurements of CP violation (CPV) and the basic parameter are
the goals of the LBNE Project, which is being planned. Using the expected
energy and baseline parameters for the LBNE Project, CPV and the dependence of

Bounds on Scalar Leptoquarks from Z Physics
We analyse the constraints on scalar leptoquarks coming from radiative
corrections to physics. We perform a global fitting to the LEP data
including the contributions of the most general effective Lagrangian for scalar
leptoquarks, which exhibits the gauge invariance. We
show that the bounds on leptoquarks that couple to the top quark are much

The potential link between corporate innovations and corporate competitiveness:Evidence from IT firms in the UK
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to provide a thorough empirical investigation of the potential link between corporate innovations and corporate competitiveness in the context of the UK IT industry. Design/methodology/approach: This research uses a panel of 216 UK IT firms for the period from 2000 to 2016. The sample data for this study were extracted from the Worldscope, extracted from the Datastream database from Thomson Reuters. For the analysis of the data, the generalised method of moments model is applied. Findings: The results of this study provide empirical evidence that there exists a strong, positive link between corporate innovations and corporate competitiveness. Such evidence further reinforces the common view in the current literature of strategic management that because of the nature of their business, firms in the IT industry need to enhance their innovative capacities on a continual basis because of their critical role on these firms’ success and survival. Also, it is found that when the proxies for corporate innovations are lagged by two periods, their impact on corporate competitiveness becomes relatively more significant. However, when they are further lagged, i.e. by three periods, such an impact turns out to be relatively less pronounced. Research limitations/implications: The data gathered for this paper was restricted to IT-oriented firms in the UK. Using a secondary database (Datastream), the paper considered the period of 2000-2016. Originality/value: The research makes a significant contribution to the current debate on the relationship between information technology, innovation and performance, referred to in the literature as the productivity paradox, by studying the problem in the IT industry. It supports organisations from the sector in their efforts to deal with the dynamic nature of technological innovations and of the context where they operate. Methodologically, the way the study has measured the concepts of innovation and performance and the lessons learned from their analysis has also brought value to the research
Nuclear binding energies: Global collective structure and local shell-model correlations
Nuclear binding energies and two-neutron separation energies are analyzed
starting from the liquid-drop model and the nuclear shell model in order to
describe the global trends of the above observables. We subsequently
concentrate on the Interacting Boson Model (IBM) and discuss a new method in
order to provide a consistent description of both, ground-state and
excited-state properties. We address the artefacts that appear when crossing
mid-shell using the IBM formulation and perform detailed numerical calculations
for nuclei situated in the 50-82 shell. We also concentrate on local deviations
from the above global trends in binding energy and two-neutron separation
energies that appear in the neutron-deficient Pb region. We address possible
effects on the binding energy, caused by mixing of low-lying intruder
states into the ground state, using configuration mixing in the IBM framework.
We also study ground-state properties using a deformed mean-field approach.
Detailed comparisons with recent experimental data in the Pb region are amply

EarthN: A new Earth System Nitrogen Model
The amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere, oceans, crust, and mantle have
important ramifications for Earth's biologic and geologic history. Despite this
importance, the history and cycling of nitrogen in the Earth system is poorly
constrained over time. For example, various models and proxies contrastingly
support atmospheric mass stasis, net outgassing, or net ingassing over time. In
addition, the amount available to and processing of nitrogen by organisms is
intricately linked with and provides feedbacks on oxygen and nutrient cycles.
To investigate the Earth system nitrogen cycle over geologic history, we have
constructed a new nitrogen cycle model: EarthN. This model is driven by mantle
cooling, links biologic nitrogen cycling to phosphate and oxygen, and
incorporates geologic and biologic fluxes. Model output is consistent with
large (2-4x) changes in atmospheric mass over time, typically indicating
atmospheric drawdown and nitrogen sequestration into the mantle and continental
crust. Critical controls on nitrogen distribution include mantle cooling
history, weathering, and the total Bulk Silicate Earth+atmosphere nitrogen
budget. Linking the nitrogen cycle to phosphorous and oxygen levels, instead of
carbon as has been previously done, provides new and more dynamic insight into
the history of nitrogen on the planet.Comment: 36 pages, 12 figure
p p -> j j e+/- mu+/- nu nu and j j e+/- mu-/+ nu nu at O(\alpha_{em}^6) and O(\alpha_{em}^4 \alpha_s^2) for the Study of the Quartic Electroweak Gauge Boson Vertex at LHC
We analyze the potential of the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) to study the
structure of quartic vector-boson interactions through the pair production of
electroweak gauge bosons via weak boson fusion q q -> q q W W. In order to
study these couplings we have performed a partonic level calculation of all
processes p p -> j j e+/- mu+/- nu nu and pp -> j j e+/- mu-/+ nu nu at the LHC
using the exact matrix elements at O(\alpha_{em}^6) and O(\alpha_{em}^4
\alpha_s^2) as well as a full simulation of the t tbar plus 0 to 2 jets
backgrounds. A complete calculation of the scattering amplitudes is necessary
not only for a correct description of the process but also to preserve all
correlations between the final state particles which can be used to enhance the
signal. Our analyses indicate that the LHC can improve by more than one order
of magnitude the bounds arising at present from indirect measurements.Comment: 26 pages, 8 figures, revised version with some typos corrected, and
