Aprendizaje Basado en Problemas en “Introducción a los Computadores”

    Get PDF

This report presents the finding of a study undertaken in 2007 by the Centre of Land Policy and Valuations of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya on the socio-economic impact of the spatial data infrastructure (SDI) of Catalonia. The Joint Research Centre of the European Commission commissioned the study and recommended the methodology. The study is based on a sample of 20 local authorities participating in the Catalan SDI, together with 3 control local authorities not participating in the SDI, and 15 end-user organisations, of which 12 are private companies operating in the Geographic Information (GI) sector, and 3 are large institutional users of GI. The study found that the total direct cost of establishing and operating the Catalan SDI (IDEC) over a five year period (2002-06) was of ¿1.5 million, of which ¿325,000 for each of the first two years (2002-03) necessary to launch the SDI, and ¿283,000 per annum to operate and develop the infrastructure in the three subsequent years (2004-06). Human resources represented 76% of the costs during the launch period (the rest being capital investment), and 91% during operation. The economic benefits in terms of increased internal efficiency of local public administrations for 2006 alone exceed ¿2.6 million per year. Therefore the study concludes that the total investment to set up the IDEC and develop it over a four year period (2002-05) is recovered in just over 6 months. Wider socio-economic benefits have also been identified but not quantified. In particular, the study indicates that web-based spatial services allow smaller local authorities to narrow the digital divide with larger ones in the provision of services to citizens and companies. The illustrative case-study of the difference between two local communes, one which enables citizens to query their cadastral parcels and get all the necessary planning and building permission on line, while the other requires the process to be done by hand after making an appointment with the local technician illustrates well the opportunities offered by the IDEC. In addition to evaluating the socio-economic impact of the SDI in Catalonia, the study reflects on the indicators used for the study and the limitations encountered in collecting the necessary information, with suggestions for future work in this important field of research.JRC.H.6-Spatial data infrastructure

In the European Higher Education Area, transversal competences have become an important aspect of the learning process at the university. Their introduction into the student’s curricula requires of additional effort in the organization of the learning activities, in order to help the student in the acquisition of these competences, as well as in the design of appropriate evaluation methods. For the professional activity, a key competence is teamwork. In advanced courses, this competence must be centered in developing the capacities of team direction and project control. This paper explains the strategies we have designed and used with students of the Bachelor degree of Computer Engineering at the Engineering School of University Rovira i Virgili, as well as the results obtained

To access the final edited and published work see https://doi.org/10.1186/s12909-023-04811-2Medical Education studies suggest that medical students experience depression, anxiety and psychopathological symptomatology in a proportion higher than in the rest of the population. In the present study, we aimed to conduct a nationwide analysis to describe student’s perceptions of Educational Climate in Spanish medical schools, and its relationship with psychopathological symptomatology.MethodsThe study was carried out in 2022 in all 44 medical schools in Spain, and analyses the academic climate, and psychopathological symptomatology among medical students (n = 4374). To measure these variables, we used the Dundee Ready Education Environment Measure (DREEM) for academic climate, and the SA-45 (Symptom Assessment-45 Questionnaire was used to assess psychopathological symptomatology.ResultsThe mean DREEM global score was low, 95.8 (SD 22.6). Worse perception of the academic climate has been found in females (t -2.21, p 0.027), in students of the clinical academic years (t 16.9, p < 0.001), and public medical schools ( t 15.6, p < 0.001).The SA45 general index score was high (p90) in 25.6% of participants. In respect of gender, female students presented higher levels of SA45 general index score, depression, interpersonal sensitivity, somatization, anxiety, obsession-compulsion, and phobic anxiety symptoms.Higher DREEM global and subscale scores corresponded to a higher SA-45 global index score and higher SA-45 subscale scores.ConclusionsOur study suggests a correlation between a poor perception of academic climate, increased depression, anxiety, and other psychopathological symptoms, with a pattern that varies between different faculties. The perception of academic climate varied between medical schools, as did the psychopathological symptoms scores. Our finding suggests the prevalence of these variables in medical students is, at least in part, attributable to factors directly related to the learning atmosphere

    Get PDF

Chronic myeloid leukemia; Asciminib; TreatmentLeucemia mieloide crónica; Asciminib; TratamientoLeucèmia mieloide crònica; Asciminib; TractamentDespite the excellent overall survival (OS) of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) patients, a significant proportion will fail currently available tyrosine-kinase inhibitors (TKIs) due to resistance or intolerance. Intolerant patients are usually managed successfully with alternative second-generation tyrosine-kinase inhibitors (2GTKIs). However, more than half of the patients will eventually discontinue second-line treatment due to loss of response or toxicity. Ponatinib is an effective drug in the setting of resistance to 2GTKIs, however with life-threatening side effects and varying responses. Asciminib is a first-in-class STAMP (Specifically Targeting the ABL Myristoyl Pocket) inhibitor that potently and specifically inhibits BCR-ABL1 via binding to a pocket distinct from the ATP binding site of the kinase. Asciminib has the potential to overcome resistance to prior TKIs, and also offers the possibility of dual inhibition of BCR-ABL1 in combination with ATP-binding TKIs. Asciminib has been evaluated in a phase I study in patients with Ph-positive leukemia failing prior TKIs, with promising results. Our aim is to share the first data on the use of asciminib in CML patients in clinical practice, allowed by Novartis under a managed-access program (MAP)

There are many studies that evaluate the difficulty of computer programming courses for students, at all levels. We have observed that, in our university, dropout in the introductory computer programming subject tends to be greater in those students less related to computing or telecommunications engineering. Several studies establish a correlation between students learning performance and their personal perception of competence in programming. In order to be able to act appropriately and try to prevent failure, it is essential to make a good prior diagnosis of the students. There are several surveys to assess the attitude of students to programming, however, most of these surveys are either not available or are surveys in English. In any case, before being able to use any of them, it is necessary to validate them for our cultural context. In this paper we present the adaptation and validation of the Computer Programming Attitude Scale (CPAS) instrument for university students. After performing the exploratory factor analysis, we can conclude that it presents adequate psychometric properties to be used in the Spanish university population
