Análisis de patrones de movilidad del transporte turístico motorizado privado en el Centro Histórico de Cuenca -Ecuador
El presente trabajo, tuvo un enfoque geográfico exploratorio longitudinal, aborda los
patrones de movilidad del transporte turístico motorizado privado en el Centro Histórico de
Cuenca. Mediante mapas y entrevistas semiestructuradas aplicadas a los diferentes actores,
además se identificaron los atractores de las rutas turísticas en servicio, y se evaluó la
incidencia del transporte turístico dentro de la zona.
El transporte turístico en taxis y busetas no está regulado. Las rutas Norte y Sur son las únicas
autorizadas por la Dirección de Gestión de Movilidad para operar con buses panorámicos.
Las empresas VANSERVICE y COTRATUDOSSA operan con tres y dos buses,
respectivamente, que circulan a 10 km/h. El horario inicia a las 09h30, termina a las 19h00 y
alcanza el 70% de ocupación entre semana y el 100% en fines de semana. El tiempo de viaje
es adecuado para los turistas nacionales, y puede extenderse para los extranjeros.
Adicionalmente los turistas no perciben las condiciones de tráfico como un problema.
Según los gerentes, conductores y guías de turismo, las entidades de planificación y control
deben asegurar el adecuado desarrollo de la actividad, definir variantes de la ruta ante
incidentes durante la operación, evitar la interacción con otros modos, mantener los
corredores y ampliar la oferta.
Finalmente, el transporte turístico contribuye a la congestión vehicular dentro del centro
histórico, afecta la fluidez del tráfico, disminuye la capacidad vial durante el
embarque/desembarque de pasajeros, interviene en conflictos con otros modos por el
irrespeto a los servicios asignados para los buses turísticos.

incidence of tourist transport within the area.
Tourist transport in taxis and minibuses is not regulated. The North and South routes are the only
authorized by the Mobility Management Department to operate with panoramic buses.
The companies VANSERVICE and COTRATUDOSSA operate with three and two buses,
respectively, traveling at 10 km/h. The schedule starts at 9:30 a.m., ends at 7:00 p.m. and
it reaches 70% occupancy during the week and 100% on weekends. Travel time
it is suitable for national tourists, and can be extended for foreigners.
Additionally, tourists do not perceive traffic conditions as a problem.
According to the managers, drivers and tourist guides, the planning and control entities
must ensure the proper development of the activity, define variants of the route before
incidents during operation, avoid interaction with other modes, keep the
brokers and expand the offer.
Finally, tourist transport contributes to traffic congestion within the center
history, affects the flow of traffic, decreases road capacity during the
embarkation/disembarkation of passengers, intervenes in conflicts with other modes for the
disrespect to the services assigned to the tourist buses.

Hábitos alimentarios en docentes de la Universidad Técnica del Norte en tiempos de Covid – 19, año 2021
Evaluar los hábitos alimentarios en docentes de la Universidad Técnica del Norte en tiempos de Covid-19, año 2021.Los hábitos alimentarios son prácticas de consumo de alimentos por lo que las personas los seleccionan para mantener una buena salud. El estudio tuvo como objetivo evaluar los hábitos alimentarios en docentes de la Universidad Técnica del Norte en tiempos de Covid -19, año 2021. Se realizó una investigación de tipo descriptivo y corte transversal, con enfoque cuantitativo, se trabajó con una muestra de 45 docentes, a quienes se aplicó una encuesta online sobre variables sociodemográficas, hábitos alimentarios y condición de salud, la que constó de 39 preguntas entre ellas abiertas. Los principales resultados destacan que los docentes están entre edades de 40 a 64 años con predominio del sexo masculino. La mayoría tiene tres tiempos de comida que lo hacen en un horario fijo y en sus respectivos hogares. Un 80% de la muestra denotan una actitud normal frente a la comida y no aumentan sal. Se evidencia un mayor consumo de líquidos en docentes mujeres. Entre los alimentos de preferencia prevalecen los reguladores y proteicos, el 42,22% refiere intolerancias algún alimento y el 26,67% presenta alergias alimentarias. En cuanto al estado de salud un 13,33% tiene antecedentes patológicos personales de obesidad en especial en las mujeres y durante la pandemia el 13,79% de hombres han contraído la enfermedad por coronavirus (COVID-19). En conclusión, los participantes del estudio refieren cambios alimentarios durante la pandemia hacia mayor consumo de alimentos saludables y disminución en la ingesta de otros con menor contenido de nutrientes protectores.Licenciatur
The Role of Bmp- and Fgf Signaling Modulating Mouse Proepicardium Cell Fate
Bmp and Fgf signaling are widely involved in multiple aspects of embryonic development.
More recently non coding RNAs, such as microRNAs have also been reported to play
essential roles during embryonic development. We have previously demonstrated that
microRNAs, i.e., miR-130, play an essential role modulating Bmp and Fgf signaling during
early stages of cardiomyogenesis. More recently, we have also demonstrated that
microRNAs are capable of modulating cell fate decision during proepicardial/septum
transversum (PE/ST) development, since over-expression of miR-23 blocked while miR-
125, miR-146, miR-223 and miR-195 enhanced PE/ST-derived cardiomyogenesis,
respectively. Importantly, regulation of these microRNAs is distinct modulated by
Bmp2 and Fgf2 administration in chicken. In this study, we aim to dissect the
functional role of Bmp and Fgf signaling during mouse PE/ST development, their
implication regulating post-transcriptional modulators such as microRNAs and their
impact on lineage determination. Mouse PE/ST explants and epicardial/endocardial cell
cultures were distinctly administrated Bmp and Fgf family members. qPCR analyses of
distinct microRNAs, cardiomyogenic, fibrogenic differentiation markers as well as key
elements directly epithelial to mesenchymal transition were evaluated. Our data
demonstrate that neither Bmp2/Bmp4 nor Fgf2/Fgf8 signaling is capable of inducing
cardiomyogenesis, fibrogenesis or inducing EMT in mouse PE/ST explants, yet
deregulation of several microRNAs is observed, in contrast to previous findings in
chicken PE/ST. RNAseq analyses in mouse PE/ST and embryonic epicardium
identified novel Bmp and Fgf family members that might be involved in such cell fate
differences, however, their implication on EMT induction and cardiomyogenic and/or
fibrogenic differentiation is limited. Thus our data support the notion of species-specific
differences regulating PE/ST cardiomyogenic lineage commitment
Short-Interval, Severe Wildfires Alter Saproxylic Beetle Diversity in Andean Araucaria Forests in Northwest Chilean Patagonia
The occurrence of short-interval, severe wildfires are increasing drastically at a global scale, and appear as a novel phenomenon in areas where fire historically returns in large time lapses. In forest ecosystems, these events induce drastic changes in population dynamics, which could dramatically impact species diversity. Here, we studied the effect on diversity of recent short-interval, severe wildfires (SISF), which occurred in rapid succession in the summers of 2002 and 2015 in Chilean Northern Patagonian Araucaria–Nothofagus forests. We analyzed the diversity of deadwood-dependent (i.e., saproxylic) and fire-sensitive beetles as biological indicators across four conditions: 2002-burned areas, 2015-burned areas, SISF areas (i.e., burned in 2002 and again in 2015), and unburned areas. Saproxylic beetles were collected using window traps in 2017 to 2019 summer seasons. To investigate the mechanisms underpinning the fire-related disturbance of the assemblage, we evaluated the effects of post-fire habitat quality (e.g., dead wood decomposition) and quantity (e.g., burned dead wood volume and tree density) on the abundances and species richness of the entire assemblage and also multiple trophic groups. Compared with the unburned condition, SISF drastically reduced species richness, evenness, and Shannon’s diversity and altered the composition of the saproxylic beetle assemblages. The between-condition variation in composition was accounted for by a species replacement (turnover) between SISF and 2015-burned areas, but both species replacement and extinction (nestedness) between SISF and unburned areas. Dead wood decomposition and tree density were the variables with the strongest effects on the abundance and species richness of the entire saproxylic beetle assemblage and most trophic groups. These results suggest that SISF, through degraded habitat quality (dead wood decomposition) and quantity (arboreal density), have detrimental impacts on diversity and population dynamics of saproxylic beetle assemblages. Therefore, habitat loss is a central mechanism underpinning fire-related biodiversity loss in these forest ecosystems.F.T. Transplantation or Transference of Cultured Cells as a Treatment for Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal cord injury (SCI) involves damage to the spinal cord causing both structural and functional changes, which can lead to temporary or permanent alterations. Even though there have been many advances in its treatment, the results of clinical trials suggest that the current therapies are not sufficiently effective. Recently, there has been a lot of interest in regulating this harmful environment by transplanting cultured cells and boosting their antiinflammatory cytokines and growth factors production. Several types of cells have been studied for SCI therapy including, Schwann cells (SC’s), olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs), choroid plexus epithelial cells (CPECs), and immune cells (ICs) (lymphocytes, dendritic cells and alternative macrophage and microglia phenotypes). These treatments have shown to be promising and in this chapter, we will review the general aspects of transplanting these cells for SCI therapy as well as the neuroprotective and regenerative responses that different types of cells have reached in different SCI models. The mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are one of the most well studied cell types; however, they were not included in this section because they will be reviewed in another chapter of this book

Bismuthene - Tetrahedral DNA nanobioconjugate for virus detection
In this work, we present an electrochemical sensor for fast, low-cost, and easy detection of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in infected patients. The sensor is based on a selected combination of nanomaterials with a specific purpose. A bioconjugate formed by Few-layer bismuthene nanosheets (FLB) and tetrahedral DNA nanostructures (TDNs) is immobilized on Carbon Screen-Printed Electrodes (CSPE). The TDNs contain on the top vertex an aptamer that specifically binds to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein, and a thiol group at the three basal vertices to anchor to the FLB. The TDNs are also marked with a redox indicator, Azure A (AA), which allows the direct detection of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein through changes in the current intensity of its electrolysis before and after the biorecognition reaction. The developed sensor can detect SARS-CoV-2 spike protein with a detection limit of 1.74 fg mL 1 directly in nasopharyngeal swab human samples. Transcriptome Analysis Identifies Novel Mechanisms Associated with the Antitumor Effect of Chitosan‐Stabilized Selenium Nanoparticles.
Selenium nanoparticles (SeNPs) have been receiving special attention in recent years due to their antioxidant capacity and antitumor properties. However, the mechanisms associated with these properties remain to be elucidated. For this reason, a global transcriptome analysis has been designed in this work and it was carried out using human hepatocarcinoma cells and chitosan‐ stabilized SeNPs (Ch‐SeNPs) to identify new targets and pathways related to the antitumor mechanisms associated with Ch‐SeNPs. The results obtained confirm the alteration of the cell cycle and the effect of Ch‐SeNPs on different tumor suppressors and other molecules involved in key mechanisms related to cancer progression. Furthermore, we demonstrated the antioxidant properties of these nanoparticles and their capacity to induce senescence, which was further confirmed through the measurement of β‐galactosidase activity

Motives for exercising among young adults with a moderately positive body image
Background: People engage in exercise and sports due to several reasons, depending on factors such as age, sex and health or
fitness status. These motives include enhancing health and fitness status, improving appearance and body image or enjoying in
leisure time. Aims & Methods: Grounded in Self-Determination Theory (SDT), this study explored motives for exercising in
healthy men and women 18 to 40 years old who were regular exercisers and held a moderately positive body image. They voluntarily completed an online survey on their exercise practice, body image and motives for exercising. Results: Contrary to previous SDT-based empirical findings, appearance improvement emerged as an important motive for exercising, and it was more
frequently mentioned than health&fun-related motives by the whole sample and by subsamples of men and women and younger
young and older young adults. Conclusions: Given that appearance management-related motives may have both positive and
undesired outcomes on exercise behaviour and personal well-being, they should be carefully reviewed with women and men in
their young adulthood who are exercise intenders, beginners or regular exercisers
