The vaccines against COVID-19 arrived in Spain at the end of 2020 along with vaccination campaigns which were not free of controversy. The debate was fueled by the adverse effects following the administration of the AstraZeneca-Oxford (AZ) vaccine in some European countries, eventually leading to its temporary suspension as a precautionary measure. In the present study, we analyze the healthcare professionals’ conversations, sentiment, polarity, and intensity on social media during two periods in 2021: the one closest to the suspension of the AZ vaccine and the same time frame 30 days later. We also analyzed whether there were differences between Spain and the rest of the world. Results: The negative sentiment ratio was higher (U = 87; p = 0.048) in Spain in March (Med = 0.396), as well as the daily intensity (U = 86; p = 0.044; Med = 0.440). The opposite happened with polarity (U = 86; p = 0.044), which was higher in the rest of the world (Med = −0.264). Conclusions: There was a general increase in messages and interactions between March and April. In Spain, there was a higher incidence of negative messages and intensity compared to the rest of the world during the March period that disappeared in April. Finally, it was found that the dissemination of messages linked to negative emotions towards vaccines against COVID-19 from healthcare professionals contributed to a negative approach to primary prevention campaigns in the middle of the pandemicThis research was funded by Fundación Banco Santander and Fundación Alfonso X el Sabio, grant number 1012031. Dietary guidelines emphasize the importance of a varied diet to provide an adequate nutrient intake. However, an older age is often associated with consumption of monotonous diets that can be nutritionally inadequate, increasing the risk for the development or progression of diet-related chronic diseases, such as metabolic syndrome (MetS). To assess the association between dietary diversity (DD) and nutrient intake adequacy and to identify demographic variables associated with DD, we cross-sectionally analyzed baseline data from the PREDIMED-Plus trial: 6587 Spanish adults aged 55-75 years, with overweight/obesity who also had MetS. An energy-adjusted dietary diversity score (DDS) was calculated using a 143-item validated semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Nutrient inadequacy was defined as an intake below 2/3 of the dietary reference intake (DRI) forat least four of 17 nutrients proposed by the Institute of Medicine (IOM). Logistic regression models were used to evaluate the association between DDS and the risk of nutritionally inadequate intakes. In the higher DDS quartile there were more women and less current smokers. Compared with subjects in the highest DDS quartile, those in the lowest DDS quartile had a higher risk of inadequate nutrient intake: odds ratio (OR) = 28.56 (95% confidence interval (CI) 20.80-39.21). When we estimated food varietyfor each of the food groups, participants in the lowest quartile had a higher risk of inadequate nutrient intake for the groups of vegetables, OR = 14.03 (95% CI 10.55-18.65), fruits OR = 11.62 (95% CI 6.81-19.81), dairy products OR = 6.54 (95% CI 4.64-9.22) and protein foods OR = 6.60 (95% CI 1.96-22.24). As DDS decreased, the risk of inadequate nutrients intake rose. Given the impact of nutrient intake adequacy on the prevention of non-communicable diseases, health policies should focus on the promotion of a healthy varied diet, specifically promoting the intake of vegetables and fruit among population groups with lower DDS such as men, smokers or widow(er)s

    No full text
The objective of the article was to relate the sports commitment of the football players together with the performance of the coach to test the relationship that both have with the sporting success of the football players. The PRISMA methodology was used. The Web of Science, Scopus, Academic Search Ultimate, Eric, Medline and Sport Discuss databases were used, with no time limit. The PICO strategy was used to screen articles. Finally, a total of 8 articles were included in the review. The importance between the commitment and the interpersonal style of the coach was demonstrated, which includes aspects in relation to his way of working globally, which we call performance. An increase in the level of commitment was also observed as the performance of the coach improved, especially the motivational climate that this produces in the players. For this reason, it is necessary to take care of these aspects in coaches when they work with potential sports talent

Student academic engagement is currently a topic of great interest within the field of educational research. Consensus exists in the scientific literature that it is a multifaceted construct made up of three dimensions: behavioral, affective/emotional and cognitive engagement. Nonetheless, other work has emerged advocating for the inclusion of a fourth dimension, namely, agentic engagement. Despite advances produced internationally, in Spain, there is a lack of valid instruments to measure academic engagement at primary education level. Thus, the present study aimed to carry out a cross-cultural validation and adaptation to the Spanish context of two important instruments for measuring academic engagement in primary education. Following a process of adaptation, the instrument was administered to a sample of 527 students (54.3% boys, 45.7% girls) undertaking 3rd to 6th grade primary education in six schools in the province of Albacete (Spain). Confirmatory factor analysis was performed of different plausible models in order to obtain the most appropriate factor structure. Reliability analyses were also conducted. Outcomes revealed that better fit was achieved in models in which agentic engagement was integrated separately to the other three dimensions, making this the most appropriate option. The resulting instrument, the academic engagement scale for primary education students, was shown to be valid and reliable for measuring this construct within Spanish students undertaking between 3rd and 6th grade of primary education. PI3Kγ is a multifaceted protein, crucially involved in cardiovascular and immune systems. Several studies described the biological and physiological functions of this enzyme in the regulation of cardiovascular system, while others stressed its role in the modulation of immunity. Although PI3Kγ has been historically investigated for its role in leukocytes, the last decade of research also dedicated efforts to explore its functions in the cardiovascular system. In this review, we report an overview recapitulating how PI3Kγ signaling participates in the regulation of vascular functions involved in blood pressure regulation. Moreover, we also summarize the main functions of PI3Kγ in immune responses that could be potentially important in the interaction with the cardiovascular system. Considering that vascular and immune mechanisms are increasingly emerging as intertwining players in hypertension, PI3Kγ could be an intriguing pathway acting on both sides. The availability of specific inhibitors introduces a perspective of further translational research and clinical approaches that could be exploited in hypertension
