The evolution of the country's economy has made that interest rates have decreased continuously in recent years. The fact that since the year 2007 the determination of the value of expropriation is being carried out through revenue capitalization, in which the indemnification value depends on the interest rate, has caused a difficult economic impact in the recipient parties of an expropriation. In this paper we study the evolution of the expropriation regulations as well as the assessment of the amount of money corresponding to the expropriation of a farm dedicated the production of cotton in the Guadalquivir valley. In the study it can be seen that over the last eight years the market value of the land has followed a downward trend. On the other hand, the value of compensation for land expropriation has been triggered, making infeasible to the irrigation communities their participation in the modernization of the irrigation systems and hinders the Administration the implementation of the National Hydrological Plan or the National Irrigation Plan. These circumstances have led the Government to try to alleviate the situation with new regulations (road act of October 2015 and revised text of law of soil of November 2015) which remain insufficient. Therefore some legislative proposals are given as conclusions at the end of this work

The cattle ticks, Rhipicephalus (Boophilus) spp., affect cattle production in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Tick vaccines constitute a cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to tick control. The recombinant Rhipicephalus microplus Bm86 antigen has been shown to protect cattle against tick infestations. However, variable efficacy of Bm86-based vaccines against geographic tick strains has encouraged the research for additional tick-protective antigens. Herein, we describe the analysis of R. microplus glutathione-S transferase, ubiquitin (UBQ), selenoprotein W, elongation factor-1 alpha, and subolesin (SUB) complementary DNAs (cDNAs) by RNA interference (RNAi) in R. microplus and Rhipicephalus annulatus. Candidate protective antigens were selected for vaccination experiments based on the effect of gene knockdown on tick mortality, feeding, and fertility. Two cDNA clones encoding for UBQ and SUB were used for cattle vaccination and infestation with R. microplus and R. annulatus. Control groups were immunized with recombinant Bm86 or adjuvant/saline. The highest vaccine efficacy for the control of tick infestations was obtained for Bm86. Although with low immunogenic response, the results with the SUB vaccine encourage further investigations on the use of recombinant subolesin alone or in combination with other antigens for the control of cattle tick infestations. The UBQ peptide showed low immunogenicity, and the results of the vaccination trial were inconclusive to assess the protective efficacy of this antigen. These experiments showed that RNAi could be used for the selection of candidate tick-protective antigens. However, vaccination trials are necessary to evaluate the effect of recombinant antigens in the control of tick infestations, a process that requires efficient recombinant protein production and formulation systems

A parallel computation approach for solving multistage stochastic network problems

    Get PDF
This paper presents a parallel computation approach for the efficient solution of very large multistage linear and nonIinear network problems with random parameters. These problems resul t from particular instances of models for the robust optimization of network problems with uncertainty in the values of the right-hand side and the objective function coefficients. The methodology considered here models the uncertainty using scenarios to characterize the random parameters. A. scenario tree is generated and, through the use of full-recourse techniques, an implementable solution is obtained for each group of scenarios at each stage along the planning horizon. As a consequence of the size of the resulting problems, and the special structure of their constraints, these models are particularly well-suited for the application of decomposition techniques, and the solution of the corresponding subproblems in a parallel computation environment. An Augmented Lagrangian decomposition algorithm has been implemented on a distributed computation environment, and a static load balancing approach has been chosen for the parallelization scheme. given the subproblem structure of the model. Large problems -9000 scenarios and 14 stages with a deterministic equivalent nonlinear model having 166000 constraints and 230000 variables- are solved in 15 minutes on a cluster of 4 small (16 Mflops) workstations. An extensive set of computational experiments is reported; the numerical results and running times obtained for our test set, composed of large-scale real-life problems, confirm the efficiency of this procedure

High-level quinolone resistance is associated with the overexpression of smeVWX in Stenotrophomonas maltophilia clinical isolates

AbstractStenotrophomonas maltophilia is the only known bacterium in which quinolone-resistant isolates do not present mutations in the genes encoding bacterial topoisomerases. The expression of the intrinsic quinolone resistance elements smeDEF, smeVWX and Smqnr was analysed in 31 clinical S. maltophilia isolates presenting a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) range to ciprofloxacin between 0.5 and > 32 μg/mL; 11 (35.5%) overexpressed smeDEF, 2 (6.5%) presenting the highest quinolone MICs overexpressed smeVWX and 1 (3.2%) overexpressed Smqnr. Both strains overexpressing smeVWX presented changes at the Gly266 position of SmeRv, the repressor of smeVWX. Changes at the same position were previously observed in in vitro selected S. maltophilia quinolone-resistant mutants, indicating this amino acid is highly relevant for the activity of SmeRv in repressing smeVWX expression. For the first time SmeVWX overexpression is associated with quinolone resistance of S. maltophilia clinical isolates

Experimental study of the free evolution of the internal gravitational waves affect by Coriolis in a stratified flow

Abstract Laboratory experiments are presented to analyze the free evolution of large-scale internal gravitational waves in a stratified water body affected by Coriolis. This investigation was made in a rotating table, where a two-layer stratification was created into a circular basin, using a fresh water layer on top of a dyed salty water layer on the bottom. The control parameters used to characterize the experiments were the dimensionless Burger number, Wedderburn number and aspect ratio of the stratified water column. The free evolution of the internal waves field was measured by tracking the vertical displacements of the pycnocline using an optical method based on digital image analysis. Three sets of experiments were developed for capturing the internal gravity waves behavior as a function of the dimensionless numbers. The results show that the dynamics of the density interface is mainly modulated by the Kelvin-Poincaré interaction and the nonlinear response of solitary type waves, observed in the experiments for specific conditions. Finally, the results show that Earth rotation and nonlinear interactions are important aspects to understand the energy dissipation of internal gravitational basin scale waves

The aim of this study is to investigate the acute inflammatory response produced by a paddle tennis match. Its determination was made by the analysis of different serum cytokines. Two pro-inflammatory interleukins (IL-1β and IL-8) and one anti- inflammatory (IL-10) were selected. Fifteen female high level players participated voluntarily in this research. Blood samples were taken before and immediately after a competition match. The results showed only an increase in IL-8 (27.63%, p <0.01), with IL-1β and IL-10 levels remaining very similar. The practice of the high level feminine paddle tennis seems to induce a moderate pro-inflammatory response. The results obtained are not conclusive so it is necessary to carry out new studies
