El mercado de la carne de bovino en México, 1970-2011

La proteína animal es básica en la dieta de los mexicanos y las fuentes principales son carne de ave, bovina y porcina. En 2011 se consumieron 60 kg/persona de carne; 16.5 kg/persona fue bovino. Para estable- cer y cuantifi car el efecto sobre el mercado mexicano de carne de bovino de sus prin- cipales variables determinantes, se diseñó un modelo econométrico de ecuaciones simultáneas, estimado a través de mínimos cuadrados en dos etapas con información secundaria para el periodo 1970-2011. Se consideró un contexto de economía abierta para el mercado bovino, de costos de pro- ducción crecientes y de pérdida de partici- pación en el mercado nacional. Resultó una oferta inelástica a los cambios del precio al productor y una demanda elástica al precio al consumidor, y el precio de importación de carne y granos inciden sobre la oferta, demanda y el saldo de comercio exterior

Bozepinib: A Promising Selective Derivative Targeting Breast Cancer Stem Cells

Bozepinib is a potent antitumour compound that shows an IC50 of 0.166 μM against MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cell line. It is also a very selective drug that presents a therapeutic index (TI) of 11.0 against MDA-MB-231 in relation to the normal MCF-10A. It is important to identify new cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) anticancer drugs to struggle against the resistance and the high risk of relapse in patients. In the present chapter, we show how bozepinib demonstrated selectivity on cancer cells and showed an inhibitory effect over kinases involved in carcinogenesis, proliferation and angiogenesis. Bozepinib inhibits HER-2 signaling pathway and JNK and ERK kinases. In addition, it has an inhibitory effect on AKT and VEGF together with anti-angiogenic and anti-migratory activities. Interestingly, bozepinib suppresses the formation of both mammo- and colonospheres and eliminated ALDH+ CSC subpopulations at a low micromolar range similar to salinomycin. It also induces the downregulation of SOX2, c-MYC and β-CATENIN and upregulation of the GLI-3 Hedgehog signaling repressor. Finally, bozepinib shows in vivo antitumor and anti-metastatic efficacy in xenotransplanted nude mice without presenting subacute toxicity. However, further studies in cancer patients are needed to confirm the therapeutic potential of bozepinib

La generación de confianza en un contexto de intercambio social: la relación supervisor-supervisado

ResumenEl objetivo de este trabajo consiste en averiguar si habituales factores generadores de confianza en contextos organizativos de intercambio económico actúan de igual forma cuando son aplicados en un contexto de intercambio social. Analizando la relación interpersonal supervisor-supervisado y variables como la justicia distributiva, los valores compartidos, la ruptura del contrato psicológico y el empowerment psicológico sobre una muestra de 519profesores universitarios, se concluye que si bien la justicia organizativa y los valores contribuyen a generar la confianza del supervisado, la ruptura del contrato psicológico la disminuye. Respecto del empowerment, las dimensiones «significado» y «autodeterminación» funcionan como antecedentes de la confianza, mientras que la «competencia» y el «impacto» muestran relaciones no significativas con la variable dependiente señalada.AbstractThe aim of this paper is to figure out if common trust generator factors in economic exchange contexts perform equally when they are applied to social exchange contexts. Analysing the relationship supervisor-subordinate and variables such as distributive justice, shared values, psychological contract breach and psychological empowerment on a sample of 519faculties, we conclude that distributive justice and shared values improve subordinate’ trust while psychological contract breach reduce it. Regarding psychological empowerment, we conclude that meaning and self-determination dimensions work out like trust antecedents but competence and impact do not show significant relationships with dependent variable

Wild Edible Plants of Andalusia: Traditional Uses and Potential of Eating Wild in a Highly Diverse Region

A review of ethnobotanical sources focused on traditionally-used wild food plants in Andalusia (southern Spain), one of the most biodiverse regions in Europe, is carried out. With 21 original sources plus some previously unpublished data, the dataset shows a high diversity of these traditional resources, reaching 336 species or c. 7% of the total wild flora. Cultural aspects related to the use of some species are discussed and data are compared with similar works. The results are discussed through the lens of conservation and bromatology. For 24% of the edible plants, informants also mentioned a medicinal use (achieved by consuming the same part of the plant). For this reason, to know the frequency response of the packet in function of vibrations and other parameters an automatic test system has been design. In this article is shown test system and mainly the data acquisition system in order to acquire long temporal series of the vibration signals. Software para evaluar el indicador Tiempo de Reacción en estudios de trabajo mental

The situation created with mental work demands is a worldwide phenomenon with an increasing tendency. It is essential to study the subject due to the limitations of the Ergonomics laboratory of the University of Matanzas to measure the reaction time with traditional equipment in studies of human behavior in the face of mental work fatigue. It is proposed in the present investigation.  As an objective to evaluate the reaction time indicator in behavioral studies of mental work fatigue using the software Alteration in Milliseconds of Interfaces and Sounds. The process model for software engineering called Sequential Linear Model and a data flow diagram were used to describe the evaluation process of the Reaction Time indicator from the proposed software, fulfilling to define a set of verifiable requirements once the software was developed. As a result, the developed software allowed measuring three variants of the reaction time indicator to different stimuli through hands and feet, visual stimuli with a variety of four colors or sound stimuli with the variation of frequency and sound pressure levels. With the development of the software and its accessory, it was guaranteed to obtain reliable results, demonstrated in the validation tests carried out to prove the non-existence of technical problems and the reliability of the software. The economic valuation of the study was presented and a total value of 94.00 USD was obtained.La situación creada con las exigencias laborales mentales es un fenómeno de carácter mundial de tendencia ascendente. Se hace imprescindible el estudio sobre el tema debido a las limitaciones que presenta el laboratorio de Ergonomía de la Universidad de Matanzas para medir el tiempo de reacción con equipos tradicionales en estudios del comportamiento humano ante la fatiga mental de trabajo. Se propone en la presente investigación como objetivo: evaluar el indicador tiempo de reacción en estudios del comportamiento de la fatiga mental de trabajo a partir del software Alteración en Milisegundos de Interfaces y Sonidos. Se utilizó el modelo de procesos para la ingeniería del software denominado Modelo Lineal Secuencial y un diagrama de flujo de datos para describir el proceso de evaluación del indicador Tiempo de Reacción a partir del software propuesto, cumpliendo definir un conjunto de requisitos verificables una vez desarrollado el software. Como resultado, el software desarrollado permitió medir tres variantes del indicador tiempo de reacción a diferentes estímulos a través de manos y pies, los estímulos visuales con variedad en cuatro colores o sonoros la variación de la frecuencia y niveles de presión sonora. Con el desarrollo del software y su accesorio se garantizó obtener resultados confiables, demostrado en las pruebas de validación efectuadas para probar la inexistencia de problemas técnicos y la fiabilidad del software. Fue presentada la valoración económica del estudio y se obtuvo un valor total de 94.00 USD

Energy Test of an Efficient Random Laser Emission Collecting System

The problem of light collection in random lasers (RLs) is addressed. As the radiation emitted by this system is Lambertian due to its spatial incoherence, a device based on an ellipsoidal revolution mirror is designed, developed, and tested in order to optimize the harvesting of the radiation emitted by the RL. The system provides a simple injection procedure of the emitted energy at the entrance of a multimode optical fiber. The results obtained show that the device has a net energy efficiency of 35%, close to the theoretically expected one. (C) The Authors. Concentración y competencia bancarias en España: el impacto de la crisis y la reestructuración

Artículo de revistaEl objetivo de este artículo es analizar la reciente evolución de la concentración y la competencia bancaria en España, centrando la atención en el impacto de la reciente reestructuración y consolidación del sector, y aportando información a nivel provincial. Los indicadores de competencia construidos muestran, en principio, que la competencia se ha resentido con la reestructuración desde 2008, si bien el indicador que tiene en cuenta el riesgo muestra que los niveles actuales son similares a los que existían antes de la crisis. En el caso de la concentración del mercado, la imagen agregada a escala nacional enmascara situaciones bien distintas en el ámbito provincial, con niveles muy elevados en algunos casos. Por tanto, desde el punto de vista de la competencia, es importante analizar la rivalidad competitiva no solo a nivel nacional, sino también en mercados con menor dimensión geográfica
