Binaries with total eclipses in the LMC: potential targets for spectroscopy

35 Eclipsing binaries presenting unambiguous total eclipses were selected from a subsample of the list of Wyrzykowski et al. (2003). The photometric elements are given for the I curve in DiA photometry, as well as approximate Teff and masses of the components. On the uncertainty relations and squeezed states for the quantum mechanics on a circle

The uncertainty relations for the position and momentum of a quantum particle on a circle are identified minimized by the corresponding coherent states. The sqeezed states in the case of the circular motion are introduced and discussed in the context of the uncertainty relations.Comment: 4 figure

Some histopathological and clinical correlations in oral squamous cell carcinoma

Oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is an important health problem that causes high mortality and morbidity. Correlations between some clinical and histopathological parameters were studied in 37 oral SCC. Some interesting aspects in oral SCC arising from precancerous lesions were found such as smaller size and a lower TNM stage at the moment of diagnosis. Histological and clinical differences were also found between tumors invading deep tissues by little groups of dissociated malignant cells and those invading by big masses of malignant cells. The possible significance of the intensity of peritumoral eosinophilic infiltrate was also studied.Le carcinome squameux de la cavité orale constitue un problème important de santé, qui est responsable d’une mortalité et d’une morbidité élevées. Nous avons étudié 37 carcinomes squameux de la cavité orale à travers un suivi clinique et une étude des corrélations entre les variables cliniques et histopathologiques. Nous avons relevé différents aspects intéressants en ce qui concerne les carcinomes squameux de la cavité orale qui procédaient de lésions précancéreuses comme leur petite dimention et le bas stade TNM au moment du diagnostic. Nous avons également trouvé des différences cliniques et histopathologiques entre les tumeurs qui envahissent les tissus adjecents en petits groupes et ceux qui le font en grandes masses de cellules malignes. Finalement, nous avons étudié la signification possible de l’intensité de l’infiltrat à eosinophiles peritumoral

Ullucus tuberosus Caldas: colección de germoplasma de ullucu conservada en el Centro Internacional de la Papa (CIP).

El presente catálogo contiene información pasaporte, datos de caracterización morfológica y ploidía para 432 accesiones de ulluco mantenidas en el banco de germoplasma del CIP. Para ilustrar mejor los datos de caracterización morfológica, cada accesión está acompañada de un set de fotografías que incluye la parte aérea de la planta, los tubérculos, las flores y una muestra lista para herborizar conformada por un tallo con sus hojas y flores. La información pasaporte es complementada con mapas ilustrados que muestran el lugar de colecta de cada accesión

Derivative expansion and large gauge invariance at finite temperature

We study the 0+1 dimensional Chern-Simons theory at finite temperature within the framework of derivative expansion. We obtain various interesting relations, solve the theory within this framework and argue that the derivative expansion is not a suitable formalism for a study of the question of large gauge invariance.Comment: 12 pages, Late

The IGEX experiment revisited: a response to the critique of Klapdor-Kleingrothaus,Dietz, and Krivosheina

This paper is a response to the article "Critical View to" the IGEX neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment..."published in Phys. Rev.D, Volume 65 (2002) 092007," by H.V.Klapdor-Kleingrothaus, A. Dietz, and I.V.Krivosheina, published as preprint hep-ph/0403056. The criticisms are confronted, and the questions raised are answered. We demonstrate that the lower limit quoted by IGEX, for the half life of Ge-76 neutrinoless double beta decay, 1.57x10**25 y, is correct and that there was no "arithmetical error"-as claimed in the " Critical Review" article

Modelado de ondas no lineales en fotónica, plasmónica y átomos fríos

We review the present status of the different lines of research in the area of Photonics at the Interdisciplinary Modeling Group, InterTech (www.intertech.upv.es) paying special attention to new topics that we have recently incorporated to our research interests: temporal solitons and design of supercontinuum generation, plasmon-soliton interaction, nonlinear effects of the quantum electrodynamics vacuum, and, finally, cold atoms in the mean-field and quantum regimes.En este artículo presentamos el estado actual de las diferentes líneas de investigación desarrolladas en el área de Fotónica del Grupo de Modelización Interdisciplinar, InterTech (www.intertech.upv.es) prestando especial atención a aquellas que han sido incorporadas recientemente: solitones temporales y diseño de la generación de supercontínuo, interacción plasmón-solitón, efectos no lineales del vacío en electrodinámica cuántica y, finalmente, átomos fríos en el régimen de campo medio y en el régimen cuántico.Ciencias Experimentale
