Lekcje o wartościach

The article deals with the subject of Polish language education as a carrier of values. Analyzes the proposals of methodological solutions that the student of a modern school meets. The article also considers which elements of the lesson relate to the learning of values and how they are modeled. The research material is composed of materials collected by students of Polish philology at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań during the course of an internship carried out in various types of schools. Organizing the collected data allows to confront theoretical assumptions with the empirical one of school life, and indicates common or overlooked features.Artykuł porusza temat edukacji polonistycznej jako nośnika wartości. Oral health in 6-year-old schoolchildren from Berisso, Argentina : falling far short of WHO goals

Objectives: Dental diseases in children have been reduced in recent decades in developed countries, although trends remain unclear in other countries. Oral healthcare in Argentina is based on demand and depends on a patient?s health insurance coverage. The objective of this study was to determine the oral health situation of the population of six-year-olds in Berisso, Buenos Aires province (Argentina). Study design: A cross-sectional observational study was performed on schoolchildren from public and private schools. The following factors were evaluated: DMFT, DMFS, dft, dfs, significant caries (SiC), filled, decayed and missing teeth, and the prevalence of caries in both primary and permanent teeth. Data was recorded concerning malocclusion, ankylosis, dental fluorosis, DDE index modified, urgent healthcare needs, healthcare system use, orthodontic treatments, filling materials, school type and socioeconomic position. Results: The study was carried out on 804 schoolchildren. The overall prevalence of caries was 70% (temporary dentition 67.9%, permanent dentition 16.3%). The dft index was 4.52 for males and 4.77 for females. For males, dfs index scored 8.78 and for females, it scored 9.27. DMFT index was 0.45 for males and 0.51 for females. DMFS index scored 0.68 for males and 0.80 for females. There were differences between socioeconomic groups (employees and manual workers) in DMFT and DMFS indexes. Of the study population, 54% had never been seen by a dentist prior to the study. For children who had visited a dentist, 71% attended state public services. Conclusions: Oral indices in Berisso were worse than in other Argentinean studies and were far from the World Health Organization global goals. Marlon Unas Esugerra interview

Bio: Marlon Unas Esguerra is a second generation Filipino American, born and raised in Chicago. Marlon currently resides in Woodside, Queens, and is a Special Ed teacher at Queens Vocational & Technical High School. In 1998, he co-founded the panAsian spoken word ensemble, I Was Born with Two Tongues/, which has since performed in over 300 colleges and venues across the country. The Tongues\u27 pioneering performance work and critically-acclaimed debut CD, Broken Speak (AsianImprov Records), sparked a new generation of APIA voices. He is also the co-founder of the Asian American Artists Collective-Chicago, YAWP! Young Asians with Power!, Undocumented Sons, and the National APIA Spoken Word & Poetry Summit. Marlon is the author of four chapbooks: Goodnight Nobody, Thirty-one Dollars Per Hour, When the Blood Leaves You, and, When the Filipinos Arrive in Wicker Park. He is currently completing his first manuscript of poetry entitled, homestay. His work has been published in Monsoon, Screaming Monkeys, Pinoy Poetics, Columbia Poetry Review, MiPo Magazine, Crab Orchard Review, South Loop Review, and Indiana Review. Marlon is a three-time Chicago poetry slam champion and has performed on Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry on HBO. His digital media work has shown nationally and internationally, with most recent exhibitions in Perth, Tokyo, and Ho Chi Minh City. Marlon\u27s most recent awards include a Michener Teaching Fellowship, the Wallace Douglas Award for Excellence in Teaching, a Columbia Award for Scholarship, and two Eileen Lannan Poetry Prizes from the Academy of American Poets. He is a proud Kundiman, VONA, and NYC Teaching Fellow. In 2002, Chicago Public Radio compared Marlon\u27s work to Carl Sandburg\u27s, naming him a, Next Voice of 21st Century Chicago. An avid runner, Marlon is currently fundraising for Team for Kids while on his quest to run 100 marathons, completing at least one in each state and one on every continent. Singing for identity, relationship, wellbeing and strength : three francophone girls negotiate adolescence, gender, and minority identity

This study investigated three francophone adolescent girls� experiences with singing. A qualitative, narrative research approach (Bogdan & Biklen, 2003; Murray, 2003) was used to increase understanding about the benefits of singing, with a particular interest in exploring singing as a potentially positive means for adolescent minority-culture girls to successfully negotiate multiple aspects of identity, that is, adolescence, gender, and culture. Semi-structured interviews provided an opportunity for the participants to share their experiences, and describe what it is like for them to sing. Data were analyzed with The Listening Guide (Gilligan, Spencer, Weinberg, & Bertsch, 2003), a relational analysis responsive to the narrative and authentic voices of participants, and used to generate �I� poems and identify themes. Three ways of singing were identified � private informal, social informal, public formal � as well as three themes, evoked with the metaphors of: Rhythm (singing and experiences of identity), Harmony (singing and relationships), and Melody (singing, wellbeing, and strength). Findings confirm and extend the small but growing research literature on the psychology of singing, and have implications for those interested in working with youth using a strength-based perspective focused on positive youth development (Larson, 2000)
