âI Do This, You Do That:â mass consumption and subversive protopolitics in Frank OâHaraâs poetry
In my thesis, I analyze Frank OâHaraâs poetry as a subversive, albeit protopolitical, response to the rise of mass consumption in the United States, more specifically in New York City, from the 1950s until his premature death in 1966. Through Henri Lefebvreâs sociologic and philosophic theories on the everyday and Charles Baudelaireâs and Walter Benjaminâs representations of the flaÌneur, I develop an understanding of OâHaraâs mundane poetics and of the numerous echoes of banal objects in his oeuvre. Secondly, I contend that pop artists Claes Oldenburg and Andy Warhol and the abstract expressionist movement share a mutual desire to critique mass consumption as the main economic doctrine of the epoch. Furthermore, OâHaraâs passion for the essays and poetics of American modernists such as Charles Olson and William Carlos Williams and Russian Futurist and Formalist Vladimir Mayakovsky and Viktor Shklovsky proves an essential component of OâHaraâs subversive poetics and in the âenstrangingâ effects it exemplifies with regard to mass consumption. To conclude, I argue that OâHaraâs work is but the foundation of my argument and points to a larger discussion on mass consumption and the post- war poetic response to it

Fe-Mg M1 site distribution in some clinopyroxenes from Santa Olalla (Huelva, Spain)
The crystal structures of two clinopyroxenes related to the skarns from Santa Olalla (Huelva. Spain) have been refined. From these refinements it is shown that pyroxene SO-1 of metamorphic origin is almost pure diopside. whereas for pyroxene SO-2 of metasomatic origin the following formula CaMg 0.64 Fe 0,34 Si2 O6. was found. These clinopyroxenes show cation ordering
Molecular Simulations of Shock to Detonation Transition in Nitromethane
An extension of the model described in a previous work of Maillet, Soulard
and Stoltz based on a Dissipative Particule Dynamics is presented and applied
to liquid nitromethane. Large scale non-equilibrium simulations of reacting
nitromethane under sustained shock conditions allow a better understanding of
the shock-to-detonation transition in homogeneous explosives. Moreover, the
propagation of the reactive wave appears discontinuous since ignition points in
the shocked material can be activated by the compressive waves emitted from the
onset of chemical reactions
Fe-dolomite(teruelite) from the Keuper of the southern sector of the Iberian Mountain Range, Spain
Dibromobis(4-methoxyphenyl)tellurium(IV)
The structur analysis shows that the title compound, [TeBr2(C7H7O)2], is isostructural with the corresponding dichloro compound. There are two molecules in the asymmetric unit in which the Te atom has pseudotrigonal bipyramidal coordination geometry. The two independent molecules, along with their centrosymmetric equivalents, form isolated tetramers by means of TeâŠBr contacts ranging from 3.535 (1) to 3.741(1) A
Two Polymorphs of Bis(4-methoxyphenyl)tellurium(IV) Diiodide
The title compound, (C7H7O)2Tel2 (orC14H14I2O2Te), crystallizes in space group P1, either with Z = 8, (Ia), or Z = 4, (Ib). The six independent molecules [four in (Ia) and tow in (Ib)] have very similar structures. The geometry at the Te atoms is pseudo-trigonal bipyramidal, with the I atoms in the axial positions and the anisyl groups and the lone pair of electrons in the equatiorial plane. The Te-C and Te-I distances are in the ranges 2.107(4)-2.128(6) and 2.8549 (10)-3.0071(10) A, respectively. In both polymorphs, the molecules are associated via Te...I secondary bonds [3.6922(6)-3.9017(7)A] to form centrosymmetric tetramers in which the Te4I8 cores display step-like geometries. Including the secondary interactions, the coordination about each Te atom is distorted octahedral
