    Optimal Teleportation Based on Bell Measurement

    We study optimal teleportation based on the Bell measurements. An explicit expression for the quantum channel associated with the optimal teleportation with an arbitrary mixed state resource is presented. The optimal transmission fidelity of the corresponding quantum channel is calculated and shown to be related to the fully entangled fraction of the quantum resource, rather than the singlet fraction as in the standard teleportation protocol.Comment: 7 pages, latex, no figure

    We obtain a class of non-diagonal solutions of the reflection equation for the trigonometric An−1(1)A^{(1)}_{n-1} vertex model. The solutions can be expressed in terms of intertwinner matrix and its inverse, which intertwine two trigonometric R-matrices.     We propose and study a universal approach for the reconstruction of quantum states of many body systems from symmetry analysis. The concept of minimal complete set of quantum correlation functions (MCSQCF) is introduced to describe the state reconstruction. As an experimentally feasible physical object, the MCSQCF is mathematically defined through the minimal complete subspace of observables determined by the symmetry of quantum states under consideration.     Extraction of Sm(III)and Nd(III) with N,N,N’,N’-tetrabutyl-3-oxy-diglycolamidefrom hydrochloric acid

    The extraction behavior of Sm(III) and Nd(III) with N,N,N’,N’-tetrabutyl-3-oxa-diglycolamide (TBDGA) in 70% kerosene-30% n-octanol from hydrochloride acid wasstudied. The effect of hydrochloric acid concentration, extractant concentration,and temperature on the distribution of rare earth elementswas investigated. The extraction mechanism was established and the stoichiometry of the main extracted species was confirm to be SmCl3‱2TBDGA and NdCl3‱2TBDGA for Sm(III) and Nd(III), respectively. The extraction distribution ratio decreases with an increase in temperature, which demonstrates that the extraction reaction is exothermic. The IR spectra of the loaded organic phase and free extractant were recorded and discussed

    Determinant representation for some transition probabilities in the TASEP with second class particles

    We study the transition probabilities for the totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) on the infinite integer lattice with a finite, but arbitrary number of first and second class particles. Using the Bethe ansatz we present an explicit expression of these quantities in terms of the Bethe wave function. In a next step it is proved rigorously that this expression can be written in a compact determinantal form for the case where the order of the first and second class particles does not change in time. An independent geometrical approach provides insight into these results and enables us to generalize the determinantal solution to the multi-class TASEP.Comment: Minor revision; journal reference adde

    Performance model for “Just-in-Time” problems in real-time multimedia applications

    Over the last few years, the use of large-scale multimedia data applications has been growing tremendously, and this growth is not likely to slow down in the near future. Many multimedia applications operate in a real-time environment (e.g., surveillance cameras, iris scans), which must meet strict time constraints, i.e. to analyze video frames at the same rate as a camera produces them. To meet this requirement, Grid computing is rapidly becoming indispensable. However, the variabilities of the software and the hardware in grid environment cause the strong burstiness in the transmission delay of video frames. Because the burstiness is unknown beforehand, it is difficult to determine the right sending moments of video frames. If the time interval between sending two sequential frames is too large, then the service utilization may be low. If use large buffer to guarantee the service utilization, then video frames may be outof- date because of the long waiting time at buffer in the server side. This problem is referred to as “Just-in-time” problem. To solve this problem, it is essential to determine the right sending moments of video frames, properly dealing with the trade-off between the service utilization and the “up-to-date” of video frames. Motivated by this, in this paper we develop an adaptive control method that react to the continuously changing circumstances in grid system so as to obtain the highest service utilization on the one hand and to keep the video frame up-to-date on the other hand. Extensive experimental validation in our DAS-3 testbed and the trace-driven simulation show that our method is indeed highly effective
