Análisis temporal del combate de judo en competición
This study seeks to analyze the temporal structure of combat in judo competition. Therefore, 14 finals of men¿s and women¿s under-23 Spanish Championship were studied. Variables such as time of total work, total and mean rest time, time of total and mean work on the floor, time of total and mean work while standing, the total and mean number of work and rest sequences were analyzed. Among the results that can be highlighted include the significant differences among men and women in mean rest time, and the mean time of standing judo work. This type of analysis tries to contribute different aspects in planning and organizing the practice of judo in a more specific wayEl presente trabajo pretende analizar la estructura temporal del combate de judo de competición.
Estudio piloto
This study aims to determine the effect of a Pilates programme on functionality in pregnant women; and to analyse its impact on childbirth. A group of 10 pregnant women developed a Pilates program for 8 weeks (2 sessions/week), overall functionality was assessed through functional tests Overhead Squat (OHS), Hurdle Step (HS), Forward Step Down (FSD), Shoulder Mobility (SM) and Active Straight Leg Raise (ASLR), as well as the type of subsequent delivery. The results show an improvement in the functionality of the Hurdle test; Forward step down and Shoulder mobility test (p<0.01), as well as a significant decrease in compensation and overall risk of injury after the physical activity programme (p<0.01). In turn, the delivery was healthier. The effects of Pilates on pregnant women offer improvements in overall functionality and a positive effect on childbirth.
TMCalc - A fast code to derive Teff and [Fe/H] for FGK stars
We present a new direct spectroscopic calibration for a fast estimation of
the stellar metallicity [Fe/H]. These calibrations were computed using a large
sample of 451 solar-type stars for which we have precise spectroscopic
parameters derived from high quality spectra. The new [Fe/H] calibration is
based on weak Fe I lines, which are expected to be less dependent on surface
gravity and microturbulence, and require only a pre-determination of the
effective temperature. This temperature can be obtained using a previously
presented line-ratio calibration. We also present a simple code that uses the
calibrations and procedures presented in these works to obtain both the
effective temperature and the [Fe/H] estimate. The code, written in C, is
freely available for the community and may be used as an extension of the ARES
code. We test these calibrations for 582 independent FGK stars. We show that
the code can be used as a precise and fast indicator of the spectroscopic
temperature and metallicity for dwarf FKG stars with effective temperatures
ranging from 4500 K to 6500 K and with [Fe/H] ranging from -0.8 dex to 0.4 dex.Comment: 10 pages, 8 Figures, published in A&
Incidence of complications in breast reconstruction with autologous tissue in a third level hospital
Background: The objective of this study is to analyze the incidence of complications after breast reconstruction with pedicled or free flaps at the hospital general de Mexico "Dr. Eduardo Liceaga”.
Methods: A retrospective, single-center study, including 44 female patients, who underwent immediate or delayed breast reconstruction after breast cancer, between 2019 and 2020, and had at least a 2-year follow up, evaluating the association between patient risk factors (age, history of radiotherapy, presence of overweight or obesity and immediate or delayed reconstruction) with the presence of complications such as seroma, hematoma, wound infection or wound dehiscence. We analyzed data with SPSS software, v23.0.
Results: There was no statistically significant difference for the presence of complications associated with risk factors studied.
Conclusions: We need more prospective, multicenter studies, including larger sample and strict follow up of patients
Design and manufacture of a customised temporomandibular prosthesis
In this work, design, manufacture and surgical success of a personalised temporomandibular prosthesis is featured. A fused deposition modelling technique and Die forging process constitute the methodology used in a patient who had an amputation in the upper third branch of the mandible, without considering the joint capsule. The implant was designed using a processed resection image of a computational tomography and using the methodology of Özkaya and Nordin. The jaw operating conditions were simulated by the finite element method (FEM). The main considered factors were the morphological geometry of the patient, implant fixation in the first third of the branch, implant fixation on
the chin, dental post for placement of the teeth, and the form of the sub-lingual fossa weight optimisation. Special consideration was to preserve the patients facial aesthetics.Peer Reviewe
Aqueous and Ethanolic Valeriana officinalis Extracts Change the Binding of Ligands to Glutamate Receptors
The effects of two valerian extracts (aqueous and hydroalcoholic) were investigated through [3H]Glutamate ([3H]Glu) and [3H]Fluorowillardine ([3H]FW) receptor binding assays using rat synaptic membranes in presence of different receptor ligands. In addition, the extract stability was monitored spectrophotometrically. Both extracts demonstrated interaction with ionotropic glutamate receptors (iGluRs). However, the extracts displayed considerable differences in receptor selectivity. The hydroalcoholic extract selectively interacted with quisqualic acid (QA), group I metabotropic glutamate receptor (mGluR) ligand, while the aqueous extract did not alter the binding of QA. The stability of the extracts was examined during several weeks. Freshly prepared extract inhibited 38–60% of [3H]FW binding (AMPA). After 10 days, the aqueous extract inhibited 85% of [3H]FW binding while the hydroalcoholic extract markedly potentiated (200%) [3H]FW binding to AMPA receptors. Thus, our results showed that factors such as extraction solvent and extract stability determine the selectivity for glutamate receptor (GluR) interactions
