Professional activities within the workplace should be integrated completed the learning process in the classroom, through pedagogical model design that facilitates learning in order to build students who have the ability to work in accordance with the demands from the industry. Development of model design has been done through collaboration models Project-based learning and PEPPER model through a mix method research. This research resulted a pedagogical syntax of learning model's tools with characteristic's industrial standard, which quantitatively tested in learning of Computer Network, so that the application of this model can improve the presumption of vocational school quality through graduate's quality

Opera Jawa [Requiem from Java]: A Semiotic Narratology Perspective

    Get PDF
Directed by Garin Nugroho in 2006, Opera Jawa is an opera film with a special status in Indonesian film history, either perceived as a newly established genre or seen from many of its other aspects. Analyzed through a semiotic narratology perspective, this musical film can put forth deeper meanings than that of a mere triangle love story between the characters. The unveiling narrativity of every layer of Opera Jawa enables us to identify both its patterns of narrative syntagm and its actantial relations with its underlying system of values. This system consists of a set of antagonistically correlating main values, namely faithfulness versus deceit, and suppression versus power

Do Stressed Women Have Abnormal Glucose Level?

    Get PDF
Stress is a physical, mental and emotional response to a challenging event and is a normal part of everyone\u27s life. It has been linked to suppression of the immune system and could increase the risk of getting ill or alter the course of existing illness. Studies show that stress is associated with increased HBA1c, especially in females. Therefore the purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence of stress with abnormal glucose value among the women community. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 168 residents of Mukim Sg. Pelek, Sepang, Selangor. Participants were selected through a simple random sampling and were asked to answer questionnaires provided. The Depression, Stress and Anxiety (DASS-21) scale was used to determine the prevalence of stress and random blood sugar (RBS) for measurement of the glucose level. Data was analyzed using Statistical Package Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 and Chi-square analyses for determining the association between variables. The study found that 58.3% of the stressed women in the community have abnormal blood glucose level, which indicated that the risk of getting diabetes is slightly high. This finding has important implication for designing strategic plans for intervention program on awareness towards coping with stress positively

Optimal economie dispatch for the nigerian grid system considering voltage and line flow constraints

    Get PDF
The electric power industries worldwide have undergone considerable changes especially from vertical structure to full deregulated entities. These changes are now introducing new problems in terms of operations, controls and planning of the entire grid systems. This calls for a more reliable analytical tool ever than before. One feasible solution is to perform the Optimal Economic Dispatch (OED) paradigm on this restructured power system so as to provide fairness to all operators. In this paper, the economic dispatch problem with voltage and line flow constraints has been formulated for the hydro-thermal generating units feeding the Nigerian power system. In order to solve the arising power flow problem a MATLAB based simulation package, MATPOWER version 3.0 has been suitably modified to obtain feasible solutions for different loading system scenarios. The results obtained showed that the OED offered a better optimal power schedules, power loss minimization and reduced total fuel cost than earlier work based on Micro-Genetic Algorithm, (MGA) and Conventional Genetic Algorithm (CGA)

Energetic Valorisation of Saltworks Bitterns via Reverse Electrodialysis: A Laboratory Experimental Campaign

    Get PDF
Concentrated bitterns discharged from saltworks have extremely high salinity, often up to 300 g/L, thus their direct disposal not only has a harmful effect on the environment, but also generates a depletion of a potential resource of renewable energy. Here, reverse electrodialysis (RED), an emerging electrochemical membrane process, is proposed to capture and convert the salinity gradient power (SGP) intrinsically conveyed by these bitterns also aiming at the reduction of concentrated salty water disposal. A laboratory-scale RED unit has been adopted to study the SGP potential of such brines, testing ion exchange membranes from different suppliers and under different operating conditions. Membranes supplied by Fujifilm, Fumatech, and Suez were tested, and the results were compared. The unit was fed with synthetic hypersaline solution mimicking the concentration of natural bitterns (5 mol/L of NaCl) on one side, and with variable concentration of NaCl dilute solutions (0.01–0.1 mol/L) on the other. The influence of several operating parameters has also been assessed, including solutions flowrate and temperature. Increasing feed solutions’ temperature and velocity has been found to lower the stack resistance, which enhances the output performance of the RED stack. The maximum obtained power density (corrected to account for the effect of electrodic compartments, which can be very relevant in five cell pairs laboratory stacks) reached around 10.5 W/m2cellpair, with FUJIFILM Type 10 membranes, temperature of 40 °C, and a fluid velocity of 3 cm s−1 (as empty channel, considering 270 μm thickness). Notably, the present study results confirm the large potential for SGP generation from hypersaline brines, thus providing useful guidance for the harvesting of SGP in seawater saltworks all around the world

Electric Dipole moments of charged leptons and lepton flavor violating interactions in the general two Higgs Doublet model

    Get PDF
We calculate the electric dipole moment of electron using the experimental result of muon electric dipole moment and upper limit of the BR(\mu --> e\gamma) in the framework of the general two Higgs doublet model. Our prediction is 10^{-32} e-cm, which lies in the experimental current limits. Further, we obtain constraints for the Yukawa couplings \bar{\xi}^{D}_{N,\tau e} and \bar{\xi}^{D}_{N,\tau\mu}. Finally we present an expression which connects the BR(\tau\to \mu\gamma) and the electric dipole moment of \tau-lepton and study the relation between these physical quantities.Comment: 8 pages, 4 Figures (required epsf sty

The Neutron Electric Dipole Moment and CP-violating Couplings in the Supersymmetric Standard Model without R-parity

We analyze the neutron electric dipole moment (EDM) in the Minimal Supersymmetric Model with explicit R-parity violating terms. The leading contribution to the EDM occurs at the 2-loop level and is dominated by the chromoelectric dipole moments of quarks, assuming there is no tree-level mixings between sleptons and Higgs bosons or between leptons and gauginos. Based on the experimental constraint on the neutron EDM, we set limits on the imaginary parts of complex couplings λijk{\lambda'}_{ijk} and λijk{\lambda}_{ijk} due to the virtual b-loop or tau-loop.Comment: final manuscript to appear in Phys.
