Thermal QCD Sum Rules Study of Vector Charmonium and Bottomonium States
We calculate the masses and leptonic decay constants of the heavy vector
quarkonia, and mesons at finite temperature. In particular,
considering the thermal spectral density as well as additional operators coming
up at finite temperature, the thermal QCD sum rules are acquired. Our numerical
calculations demonstrate that the masses and decay constants are insensitive to
the variation of temperature up to , however after this point,
they start to fall altering the temperature. At deconfinement temperature, the
decay constants attain roughly to 45% of their vacuum values, while the masses
are diminished about 12%, and 2.5% for and states,
respectively. The obtained results at zero temperature are in good consistency
with the existing experimental data as well as predictions of the other
nonperturbative models. Considerable decreasing in the values of the decay
constants can be considered as a sign of the quark gluon plasma phase

Yoga for multiple sclerosis: A systematic review and meta-analysis
© 2014 Cramer et al. While yoga seems to be effective in a number of neuropsychiatric disorders, the evidence of efficacy in multiple sclerosis remains unclear. The aim of this review was to systematically assess and meta-analyze the available data on efficacy and safety of yoga in patients with multiple sclerosis. Medline/PubMed, Scopus, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, PsycINFO, CAM-Quest, CAMbase, and IndMED were searched through March 2014. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of yoga for patients with multiple sclerosis were included if they assessed health-related quality of life, fatigue, and/or mobility. Mood, cognitive function, and safety were defined as secondary outcome measures. Risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane tool. Seven RCTs with a total of 670 patients were included. Evidence for short-term effects of yoga compared to usual care were found for fatigue (standardized mean difference [SMD] = 20.52; 95% confidence intervals (CI) = 21.02 to 20.02; p = 0.04; heterogeneity: I2 = 60%; Chi2 = 7.43; p = 0.06) and mood (SMD = 20.55; 95%CI = 20.96 to 20.13; p = 0.01; heterogeneity: I2 = 0%; Chi2 = 1.25; p = 0.53), but not for health-related quality of life, muscle function, or cognitive function. The effects on fatigue and mood were not robust against bias. No short-term or longer term effects of yoga compared to exercise were found. Yoga was not associated with serious adverse events. In conclusion, since no methodological sound evidence was found, no recommendation can be made regarding yoga as a routine intervention for patients with multiple sclerosis. Yoga might be considered a treatment option for patients who are not adherent to recommended exercise regimens
Neonatal Sepsis Alters the Excitability of Regular Spiking Cells in the Nucleus of the Solitary Tract in Rats
OBJECTIVE: Sepsis is a leading cause of mortality and morbidity in infants. Although the measures of autonomic dysfunction (e.g. reduced heart rate variability) predict mortality in sepsis, the mechanism of sepsis-induced autonomic dysfunction has remained elusive. The nucleus of the solitary tract hjh(NTS) is a vital structure for the integrated autonomic response to physiological challenges. In the present study we hypothesized that sepsis alters the excitability of NTS neurons in a rat model of neonatal sepsis (14-day old rats). METHODS AND RESULTS: Sepsis was induced by intraperitoneal injection of cecal slurry (CS) in rat neonates. The presence of autonomic dysfunction was confirmed by observing a significant reduction in both short-term and long-term heart rate variably following CS injection. We investigated the effect of polymicrobial sepsis on the electrophysiological properties of the medial NTS neurons using a whole cell patch clamp recording. Our results showed that the resting membrane potential in regular spiking neurons was significantly less polarized in the septic group (-37.6 ± 1.76 mv) when compared with the control group (-54.7 ± 1.73 mv, P < 0.001). The number of spontaneous action potentials in the septic group, was also significantly higher than the control group (P < 0.05). In addition, the frequency and amplitude of the spontaneous excitatory post synaptic potentials (EPSPs) was significantly higher in neurons recorded in the septic group (P < 0.001). Interestingly, regular spiking cells in the CS group exhibited a rebound action potential following hyperpolarization. Injection of depolarizing currents was associated with lower first spike latency and changes in rise slope of action potential (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: We showed that polymicrobial sepsis increases the excitability of regular spiking cells in the medial NTS. These alterations can potentially affect neural coding and thus may contribute to an abnormal homeostatic or allostatic physiological response to sepsis and systemic inflammation

Low-lying quadrupole collective states of the light and medium Xenon isotopes
Collective low lying levels of light and medium Xenon isotopes are deduced
from the Generalized Bohr Hamiltonian (GBH). The microscopic seven functions
entering into the GBH are built from a deformed mean field of the Woods-Saxon
type. Theoretical spectra are found to be close to the ones of the experimental
data taking into account that the calculations are completely microscopic, that

Rare B Decays with a HyperCP Particle of Spin One
In light of recent experimental information from the CLEO, BaBar, KTeV, and
Belle collaborations, we investigate some consequences of the possibility that
a light spin-one particle is responsible for the three Sigma^+ -> p mu^+ mu^-
events observed by the HyperCP experiment. In particular, allowing the new
particle to have both vector and axial-vector couplings to ordinary fermions,
we systematically study its contributions to various processes involving
b-flavored mesons, including B-Bbar mixing as well as leptonic, inclusive, and
exclusive B decays. Using the latest experimental data, we extract bounds on
its couplings and subsequently estimate upper limits for the branching ratios
of a number of B decays with the new particle. This can serve to guide
experimental searches for the particle in order to help confirm or refute its

Development of the Persian version of gross motor function measure-88 (GMFM-88): A study of reliability
The aims of this study were to cross-culturally translate and equivalence of Gross Motor Function Measure 88 (GMFM-88) in to Persian and to evaluate its reliability in the 50 children with Cerebral Palsy (CP). Our investigation was a none-experimental and methodological study which developed a Persian translation of GMFM-88 based on International Quality of Life Assessment (IQLA) guidelines. Inter-rater reliability was perfumed by comparison of scores recorded by two expert physiotherapists in a blind pattern while inter-rater reliability was assessed by comparison of scores recorded by an expert physiotherapist in two continuous weeks. Intra-class Correlation Coefficient (ICC) was used to evaluate both reliabilities. Additionally internal consistency was calculated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The ICC was 0.99 for both inter-rater reliability and intra-rater reliability with 95 Confidence Interval (CI) = 0.99-1. Cronbach�s alpha coefficients for all dimensions of GMFM-88 were ranged 0.78-0.94, which showed an acceptable internal consistency. The Persian version of GMFM-88 which indicated high internal consistency is a reliable instrument to quantifying gross motor function in children with CP and to following efficacy of various rehabilitation and medical treatments in these patients. © 2015 Academic Journals Inc
