    BFKL predictions for inclusive three jet production at the LHC

    We define new observables sensitive to BFKL dynamics in the context of multijet production at the large hadron collider (LHC). We propose the study of the inclusive production of three jets well separated in rapidity from each other, with two of them being very forward. We show that the tagging of a third jet in the central region of rapidity allows for a very strong test of the BFKL formalism. In particular, we have studied two projections on azimuthal angles for the differential cross section which allow for the definition of many different observables whose behavior when varying the ptp_t and rapidity of the central jet is a distinct signal of BFKL dynamics. In order to reduce the theoretical uncertainties and influence of higher order corrections, we propose the study of ratios of correlation functions of products of cosines of azimuthal angle differences among the tagged jets.Comment: 11 pages, 2 figure

    Dihadron Production at LHC: BFKL Predictions for Cross Sections and Azimuthal Correlations

    A study of the inclusive production of a pair of hadrons (a "dihadron" system), having high transverse momenta and separated by a large interval of rapidity, is presented. This process has much in common with the widely discussed Mueller--Navelet jet production and can be also used to access the BFKL dynamics at proton colliders. Large contributions enhanced by logarithms of energy can be resummed in perturbation theory within the BFKL formalism in the next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy. The experimental study of dihadron production would provide with an additional clear channel to test the BFKL dynamics. The first theoretical predictions for cross sections and azimuthal angle correlations of the two hadrons produced with LHC kinematics are presented.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures; presented by F.G.     A study of the diffusion pattern in N=4 SYM at high energies

    In the context of evolution nequations and scattering amplitudes in the high energy limit of the N=4 super Yang–Mills theory we investigate in some detail the BFKL gluon Green function at next-to-leading order. In particular, we study its collinear be havi or in term so fan expansion in different angular components. We also perform a Monte Carlo simulation of the different final states contributing to such a Green function and construct the diffusion pattern in to in frared and ultraviolet modes and multiplicity distributions, making emphasis in separating the gluon contributions from those of scalars and gluinos. We find that the combined role of the non-gluonic degree sof freedom is to improve the collinear behavior and reduce the diffusion in to ultraviolet regions while not having any effect ont heaver age multiplicities or diffusion in to the in frared. In terms of growth with energy,the non-zero conformal spin components are mainly driven by the gluon terms in the BFKLkernel.     Serum IL-17 after one course of sublingual immunotherapy in allergic rhinitis to birch

    Recently, it has been reported that IL-17 may be involved in allergic reaction. Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is the unique curative treatment for allergic rhinitis. This study aims at investigating whether one course of birch SLIT could affect serum IL-17 levels. The findings provided show that some IL-17 producer patients had a reduction of serum IL-17 levels after one SLIT course. Therefore, this preliminary study shows that a single pre-seasonal SLIT course may induce a significant decreasing trend in serum IL-17 levels; further study should be carried out to define the role exerted by IL-17 in allergic rhinitis

    Several allergic and immunologic diseases including asthma, food allergy (FA), chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU), atopic dermatitis (AD), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), systemic sclerosis (SSc), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and Beh\ue7et\u2019s disease (BD) are characterized by the involvement of Th2 immunity. Several mediators lead to immunoglobulin (Ig)E production, thus including key cytokines such as interleukin (IL)-4, IL-5, and IL-13. Among them, IL-31 and IL-33 have been recently studied as novel biomarkers and future therapeutic targets for allergic and immunological disorders. IL-31 is a proinflammatory cytokine\u2014it regulates cell proliferation and is involved in tissue remodeling. IL-33, acting through its receptor suppression of tumorigenity (ST2L), is an alarmin cytokine from the IL-1 family, whose expression is mediated by tissue damage. The latter has a pleiotropic effect, as it may modulate specific and innate immune cells functions. To date, several researchers have investigated the involvement of IL-31 and IL-33 in several allergic and immune-mediated diseases. Further studies are needed to understand the future applications of these molecules as novel therapeutic agents.     Detection of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus in a patient travelling from Shanghai to Italy in July 2018: An uncommon clinical presentation in a non-seasonal period

    Influenza is one of the most common infectious diseases in travellers, especially in those returning from subtropical and tropical regions. In late June 2018 an influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus infection was diagnosed in a 36-years-old man, returned from a travel in Shanghai and hospitalized at the Ospedale Policlinico San Martino, Genoa, Italy, with a diagnosis of fever and an uncommon clinical presentation characterised by a persistent leukopenia. Phylogenetic analysis revealed a closeness with influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 strains circulating in the US in May-June 2018. Prompt recognition of influenza infection led to a proper case management, demonstrating the crucial role of the continuous influenza surveillance programme
