Classical approach to collect medicinal plants - A prudent view in optimizing pharmacological affluence

    Get PDF
Medicinal value of the plants mainly depends upon the season in which they are grown and place in which they are collected. The place (Desha) denotes the richness of inherent quality of drugs (Dravya-plants), whereas the time (Kaala) denotes the potentiating factors of such inherited qualities. The state of drug and method of its collection are specified again to conserve those potentiated inherent qualities of the plants otherwise called active principles. The research works done on plant physiology and applied botany render scientific explanation for the classical approach. This review paper is an endeavor to put light on four classical perspectives in collection of medicinal plants; place, time, state and method

    Get PDF
Breast cancer is a fairly diverse illness that affects a large percentage of women in the west. A mammogram is an X-ray-based evaluation of a woman's breasts to see if she has cancer. One of the earliest prescreening diagnostic procedures for breast cancer is mammography. It is well known that breast cancer recovery rates are significantly increased by early identification. Mammogram analysis is typically delegated to skilled radiologists at medical facilities. Human mistake, however, is always a possibility. Fatigue of the observer can commonly lead to errors, resulting in intraobserver and interobserver variances. The image quality affects the sensitivity of mammographic screening as well. The goal of developing automated techniques for detection and grading of breast cancer images is to reduce various types of variability and standardize diagnostic procedures. The classification of breast cancer images into benign (tumor increasing, but not harmful) and malignant (cannot be managed, it causes death) classes using a two-way classification algorithm is shown in this study. The two-way classification data mining algorithms are utilized because there are not many abnormal mammograms. The first classification algorithm, k-means, divides a given dataset into a predetermined number of clusters. Support Vector Machine (SVM), a second classification algorithm, is used to identify the optimal classification function to separate members of the two classes in the training dat

    Get PDF
Image Processing applications have grown vastly in real world. Commonly due to limited depth of optical field lenses, it becomes inconceivable to obtain an image where all the objects are in focus. Image fusion deals with creating an image where all the objects are in focus. After image fusion, it plays an important role to perform other tasks of image processing such as image enhancement, image segmentation, and edge detection. This paper describes an application of Neural Network (NN), a novel feature-level multifocus image fusion technique has been implemented, which fuses multi-focus image using classification. The image is divided into blocks. The block feature vectors are fed to feed forward NN. The trained NN is then used to fuse any pair of multi-focus images. The implemented technique used in this paper is more efficient. The comparisons of the different existing approaches along with the implementing method by calculating different parameters like PSNR,RMSE

    Get PDF
Background: Pharmacotherapy is the mainstay of allergic rhinitis and many caregivers use over-the-counter antihistamines. Bepotastine is a novel oral second generation non-sedative antihistamine and an effective treatment option for allergic rhinitis. The objectives of the present study were to evaluate the efficacy and safety of bepotastine versus cetirizine an over the counter drug. Methods: A prospective, randomized, open-label, parallel-group study was conducted among 60 patients fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Group A (n=30) received tablet cetirizine 10 mg once daily and Group B (n=30) received tablet bepotastine 10 mg once daily. Efficacy was assessed by mean change in total symptom score (TSS) which is the sum of total nasal symptom score and total ocular symptom score at the end of two weeks from baseline. Results: At the end of two weeks of treatment, both groups showed statistically significant (p<0.005) improvements from their baseline TSS. Mean TSS was reduced from12.36±2.12 to 4.2±1.66 in group A and from 13.33±3.039 to 3.033±1.40 in Group B. Significant statistical difference in TSS was seen more in Group B than Group A (p<0.005).Conclusions: Both the groups showed a substantial therapeutic benefit in patients with allergic rhinitis, however bepotastine is more effective.

351-355   In developing countries like India, hypertension poses a major problem. Rise in blood pressure for a prolonged period above the normal range is labeled as hypertension and this is usually preceded by prehypertension. Yogic exercises done on regular basis can have beneficial effects on hypertension. The aim of present study was to evaluate the effects of yogic exercises in controlling blood pressure in pre-hypertensive.    Security personnel were screened for hypertension and the subjects with pre-hypertension were selected for study. subjects with pre-hypertension were divided into control and intervention group by using simple random sampling method. Intervention group were trained for yoga and both the groups were followed up to check blood pressure every 3 months.    The study observed a decrease in weight and blood pressure of intervention group as compared to the control group but it was not statistically significant. The intervention group showed significant improvement in self rated quality of life compared to the control group.    Yogasanas and meditation seems to have an antihypertensive effect and a positive effect on self rated quality of lifeby intervention group as compared to the control group. This proves that simple yogasanas and meditation could be useful to improve the quality of life and control blood pressure in subjects with pre-hypertension

A comprehensive review on bonding between monolithic ceramics and tooth structure with different adhesive agents.

    Get PDF
Reliable bonding between the prepared tooth and monolithic ceramics can be achieved by various luting agents available on the market. The selection of luting agent and cementation technique plays an important role in the success of the restoration. With the advent of resin-based adhesive systems as luting agents, clinicians\u27 perspectives have changed to a more conservative approach. Recent systems, chemically adhere the crowns to the prepared tooth structure showing higher bond strength. To reach the aesthetic demands of the patients, all-ceramic restorations were considered over metal-ceramic crowns. Few all-ceramic crowns are brittle, the strength is dependent on the chemical structure and method of fabrication. While some all-ceramic restorations gain strength after cementation. Thus, the choice of luting agent used in cementing all-ceramic crowns is crucial. Even though many luting agents are being introduced no single luting agent fulfilled all the requirements. Among them, adhesive cements showed greater bond strength and enhanced the retention of minimal preparation, which are less retentive. Traditional non-adhesive agents can be used in retentive preparations that bond through mechanical means rather than the chemical bond seen in newer adhesive cements. Also, surface treatments of zirconia showed greater bond strengths irrespective of the luting agent being used. These include air abrasion, acid etching, applying silane couplers, and primers that increase the surface area for adhesion. The use of all-ceramic restorations, the need for surface treatments, types of surface treatments, adhesion and adhesive agents, and evidence from current in vitro research on monolithic ceramics and tooth adhesion were all discussed in this review
