The RTA Betatron-Node Experiment: Limiting Cumulative BBU Growth In A Linear Periodic System
The successful operation of a Two-Beam accelerator based on extended
relativistic klystrons hinges upon decreasing the cumulative dipole BBU growth
from an exponential to a more manageable linear growth rate. We describe the
theoretical scheme to achieve this, and a new experiment to test this concept.
The experiment utilizes a 1-MeV, 600-Amp, 200-ns electron beam and a short
beamline of periodically-spaced rf dipole-mode pillbox cavities and solenoid
magnets for transport. Descriptions of the beamline are presented, followed by
theoretical studies of the beam transport and dipole-mode growth.Comment: 3 pages, 3 figures. Submitted to XX Int'l. LINAC Conferenc
Revision of the Phenomenological Characteristics of the Algol-Type Stars Using the NAV Algorithm
Phenomenological characteristics of the sample of the Algol-type stars are
revised using a recently developed NAV ("New Algol Variable") algorithm
(2012Ap.....55..536A, 2012arXiv 1212.6707A) and compared to that obtained using
common methods of Trigonometric Polynomial Fit (TP) or local Algebraic
Polynomial (A) fit of a fixed or (alternately) statistically optimal degree
(1994OAP.....7...49A, 2003ASPC..292..391A). The computer program NAV is
introduced, which allows to determine the best fit with 7 "linear" and 5
"non-linear" parameters and their error estimates. The number of parameters is
much smaller than for the TP fit (typically 20-40, depending on the width of
the eclipse, and is much smaller (5-20) for the W UMa and beta Lyrae - type
stars. This causes more smooth approximation taking into account the reflection
and ellipsoidal effects (TP2) and generally different shapes of the primary and
secondary eclipses. An application of the method to two-color CCD photometry to
the recently discovered eclipsing variable 2MASS J18024395 + 4003309 = VSX
J180243.9 +400331 (2015JASS...32..101A) allowed to make estimates of the
physical parameters of the binary system based on the phenomenological
parameters of the light curve. The phenomenological parameters of the light
curves were determined for the sample of newly discovered EA and EW - type
stars (VSX J223429.3+552903, VSX J223421.4+553013, VSX J223416.2+553424,

196-166827). Despite we have used original observations published by the
discoverers, the accuracy estimates of the period using the NAV method are
typically better than the original ones.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, "Odessa Astronomical Publications", 2015, 28 (in

Epidemic model with isolation in multilayer networks
The Susceptible-Infected-Recovered (SIR) model has successfully mimicked the propagation of such airborne diseases as influenza A (H1N1). Although the SIR model has recently been studied in a multilayer networks configuration, in almost all the research the isolation of infected individuals is disregarded. Hence we focus our study in an epidemic model in a two-layer network and we use an isolation parameter w to measure the effect of quarantining infected individuals from both layers during an isolation period tw. We call this process the Susceptible-Infected-Isolated-Recovered (SIIR) model. Using the framework of link percolation we find that isolation increases the critical epidemic threshold of the disease because the time in which infection can spread is reduced. In this scenario we find that this threshold increases with w and tw. When the isolation period is maximum there is a critical threshold for w above which the disease never becomes an epidemic. We simulate the process and find an excellent agreement with the theoretical results. We thank the NSF (grants CMMI 1125290 and CHE-1213217) and the Keck Foundation for financial support. Priorities for the development of manufacturing industries in the Kaliningrad region
The Kaliningrad region is a socio-economically developed area with a steadily increasing population. Its economy is predominantly influenced by manufacturing industries, whose growth is supported by the region’s strategic geographic position on the Baltic coast and the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) regime. However, the region's exclave status, which makes it reliant on external factors, hinders its development. Any change in these external factors could necessitate a restructuring of manufacturing industries. The severing of former foreign economic and social ties, the discontinuation of cross-border cooperation due to the actions of unfriendly countries, and the imposition of eleven packages of unlawful anti-Russian sanctions have had a more pronounced impact on the regional economy compared to the country's inland regions. Logistics between the region and the main part of the country have been significantly complicated. Manufacturing industries have faced disruptions in the supply of essential foreign-made semi-finished products. The exports of several regionally-produced goods have been restricted, and transit through the Baltic States has become more difficult. This article aims to assess the impact of these restrictions on the development of manufacturing industries in the region. Another goal is to provide a rationale for the restructuring of specialization and changes in the geography of external relations in these increasingly complex external circumstances. Recommendations based on the findings obtained will contribute to the region's sustainable development, characterized by dynamic growth and proportional development

This study took the subject of experimental of paint finishing with brush that is applied to the plywood. In wood process, finishing is a very important stage. Finishing process is commonly known as paint application process. Type of paint is varied, depends on the constituent materials, USAbility to location of use. Type of paint chosen in this study is oil paint, duco, latex, acrylic, and epoxy This research using qualitative and quantitative methods in which this research aims to know the character (power test viscocity, ,adhesive potensial, gloss intensity and dry resources) each type of paint on the deployment process of paint on plywood with a brush, as well as find out the most suitable type of paint applied to plywood epoxy paint which is obtained from the results of testing
VOLUNTARIADO SENIOR EN PANDEMIA: IMPACTO EN LA PARTICIPACIÓN SOCIAL DE LAS PERSONAS MAYORES
In successful ageing, the social relationships of older people are essential, as is the feeling of usefulness. Senior volunteering brings these qualities together in a single activity and is directly related to the emotional, psychological and physical well-being of older people.
The global pandemic of COVID-19 has widely affected all sectors of today's society. This research investigates the consequences that the pandemic has had on the lives of senior volunteers, as this demographic cohort has been doubly affected.
The methodology used in this research was qualitative. Two focus groups were conducted, with seven participants each, from different volunteer organisations across Extremadura, using the ZOOM platform.
The analysis of the data shows how senior volunteers and beneficiaries have suffered and continue to suffer from the effects of the pandemic. They have been forced to adapt to new regulations and situations, which has had an impact on their activities and probably also on their physical and emotional well-being.
Key words: Older people, senior volunteering, active ageing, old age, COVID-19.En el envejecimiento exitoso, las relaciones sociales de los mayores son esenciales, al igual que el sentimiento utilidad.

The Timing of Reward-Seeking Action Tracks Visually-Cued Theta Oscillations in Primary Visual Cortex
An emerging body of work challenges the view that primary visual cortex (V1) represents the visual world faithfully. Theta oscillations in the local field potential (LFP) of V1 have been found to convey temporal expectations and, specifically, to express the delay between a visual stimulus and the reward that it portends. We extend this work by showing how these oscillatory states in male, wild-type rats can even relate to the timing of a visually cued reward-seeking behavior. In particular, we show that, with training, high precision and accuracy in behavioral timing tracks the power of these oscillations and the time of action execution covaries with their duration. These LFP oscillations are also intimately related to spiking responses at the single-unit level, which themselves carry predictive timing information. Together, these observations extend our understanding of the role of cortical oscillations in timing generally and the role of V1 in the timing of visually cued behaviors specifically.Fil: Levy, Joshua M..
