    The Relationship of Conformity and Memory

    Some theorists believe that the brain was evolved under the influence of the community and for the community. So it seems that social function has priority on pure cognitive in the brain. The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between conformity and general memory. The current study is a descriptive-correlational research by using prediction (regression) method. For doing this, 167 students were selected via the multistage cluster method from Bonab and Tabriz Payam Noor universities. For gathering data, the Conformity L-72 Test and general memory Questionnaire (PRMQ) were used. The data were analyzed by using Pearsons Correlation test and Liner Regression methods. According to the results, the predictive role of conformity for errors in the general memory was confirmed (P<0/01). So that conformity explained 46% of general memory errors variance. Based on these results, it seems that social and cognitive functions of the brain are linked together to meet common goals.Keywords: Conformity, General Memory, Social Brain, Cognitio

    Personality Types and Emotional Intelligence as Predictors of Academic Achievement in Students at Kashan University of Medical Sciences

    Background: Type of personality and emotional intelligence affects a person’s mental function and capabilities, which can influence academic achievement. Objectives: This study was designed to evaluate the relationship between emotional intelligence, type of character and academic achievement. Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional study on students of Kashan University of Medical Sciences in 2012. In total 221 students participated in the study. In addition to demographic information, a Five Factor Personality Questionnaire and Emotional Quotient Inventory were used. Participants completed questionnaires in their classrooms. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 16. Descriptive statistics were calculated and analysis of variance and regression analysis were used. Results: Students in the various disciplines were not statistically different in terms of personality. Students with different grade point averages were significantly different in relation to: problem-solving, happiness, self-actualization, optimism, self-respect, flexibility and total emotional quotient (EQ) scores (P < 0.05). However, no statistically significant differences were observed between personality types in students with different grade point average. All variables (EQ, agreeableness, extroversion, openness, consciousness) except neuroticism were excluded from the regression model. Conclusions: Some components of personality types and emotional intelligence are predictors of academic achievement. Therefore, attention to these issues in students is needed to ensure the best achievement gains

    Ovarian follicular dynamics during the interovulatory interval in Najdi goats

    The pattern of growth and regression of ovarian follicles was characterized during the estrus cycle in 5 Najdi goats by daily ultrasonographic examination of the ovaries. Follicles 2 mm was measured and their relative locations within the ovary were determined to follow the sequential development of each individual follicle. Results indicated the presence of either four (n = 2 estrus cycles) or five (n = 3 estrus cycles) waves of follicular growth during the interovulatory interval. Each wave was characterized by the development of at least 1 large follicle (dominant) and a variable number of small follicles (subordinate). The mean number of follicular waves in Najdi goats is 4.6 ± 0.55, the days of wave emergence were on -0.8 ± 1.06, 3.2 ± 0.4, 7.0 ± 0.6, 12.3 ± 1.72 and 13.0 ± 1.63, for the first to fifth follicular waves, retrospectively. In goats with four or five follicular waves the dominant follicle in forth or fifth wave was ovulatory follicle. The mean number of ovulations in Najdi goats is 1.8 ± 0.4.     Influence of gravitational field on quantum-nondemolition measurement of atomic momentum in the dispersive Jaynes-Cummings model

    We present a theoretical scheme based on su(2) algebra to investigate the influence of homogeneous gravitational field on the quantum nondemolition measurement of atomic momentum in dispersive Jaynes-Cummings model. In the dispersive Jaynes-Cummings model, when detuning is large and the atomic motion is in a propagating light wave, we consider a two-level atom with quantized cavity-field in the presence of a homogeneous gravitational field. We derive an effective Hamiltonian describing the dispersive atom-field interaction in the presence of gravitational field. We can see gravitational influence both on the momentum filter and momentum distribution. Moreover, gravitational field decreases both tooth spacing of momentum and the width of teeth of momentum.Comment: 21 pages, 8 figure

    Survey on helminthic and protozoan contaminations in alimentary canal of ostrich at Tehran Province slaughterhouses

    Ostrich- farming has been prevalent in South Africa as the main habitat of this bird since several centuries ago and the flocks of ostrich have been reared similar to other herds or tame animals and flocks of birds. It can be also possibly reared in other countries of the world. At present, whereas skin, flesh, and other organs of this bird are consumed thus farming of this bird is vitally important in the world.With respect to growing population of ostrich flocks in Tehran Province and the affiliated towns and importance of this issue in terms of providing meat and protein for the consuming market and in order to improve production yield it requires for diagnosis of and prophylaxis of the related common diseases for this animal particularly the parasitic diseases. It was tried to study by referring to 16 ostrich farming centers and visiting and sample from 55 carcasses of and or fatalities of the animal for this purpose. Then, after washing the contents of intestine of this bird and passing of those through screen (100) and staining with loop they were analyzed. Also lamella was prepared from intestinal wall and after staining the probability of existing protozoans was explored.     BAUSCHINGER EFFECT INVESTIGATION OF AN ALUMINUM ALLOY, AND ITS APPLICATION IN AUTOFRETTAGED AND COMPOUND TUBES

    ABSTRACT For characterizing Bauschinger effect factor (BEF) and Bauschinger modulus reduction of an A5083 aluminum alloy experimentally, several uniaxial tension-compression tests carried out in different pre-strain levels using INSTRON testing machine. BEF was investigated using both Welter and Milligan&apos;s definitions for various offset values. It was observed that Milligan&apos;s definition predicts BEF less than Welter&apos;s definition for all offset values. In addition, real loadingunloading behavior of such alloy was recorded to predict residual stresses resulting from autofrettage and shrink fit processes. Variable material properties (VMP) method, which is capable of incorporating real unloading behavior of materials, was used as an accurate way to estimate residual stresses. Hoop residual stresses were calculated using real unloading behavior and isotropic hardening rule. Results showed that, isotropic hardening rule in comparison with real unloading behavior overestimates bore hoop residual stresses up to 12%. In this rapidly evolving context, scholars, professionals and the public may need to quickly identify important new studies. In response, this paper assesses the coverage of scholarly databases and impact indicators during 21 March to 18 April 2020. The rapidly increasing volume of research, is particularly accessible through Dimensions, and less through Scopus, the Web of Science, and PubMed. Google Scholar’s results included many false matches. A few COVID-19 papers from the 21,395 in Dimensions were already highly cited, with substantial news and social media attention. For this topic, in contrast to previous studies, there seems to be a high degree of convergence between articles shared in the social web and citation counts, at least in the short term. In particular, articles that are extensively tweeted on the day first indexed are likely to be highly read and relatively highly cited three weeks later. Researchers needing wide scope literature searches (rather than health focused PubMed or medRxiv searches) should start with Dimensions (or Google Scholar) and can use tweet and Mendeley reader counts as indicators of likely importance

    Protective effect of crocin and voluntary exercise against oxidative stress in the heart of high-fat diet-induced type 2 diabetic rats

    Background: Oxidative stress plays a critical role in the pathogenesis and progression of type 2 diabetes and diabetic-associated cardiovascular complications. This study investigated the impact of crocin combined with voluntary exercise on heart oxidative stress indicator in high-fat diet-induced type 2 diabetic rats. Materials and methods Rats were divided into four groups: diabetes, diabetic-crocin, diabetic-voluntary exercise, diabetic-crocin-voluntary exercise. Type 2 diabetes was induced by high-fat diet (4 weeks) and injection of streptozotocin (intraperitoneally, 35 mg/kg). Animals received crocin orally (50 mg/kg); voluntary exercise was performed alone or combined with crocin treatment for 8 weeks. Finally, malondialdehyde (MDA), activity of antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPx), and catalase (CAT) were measured spectrophotometrically.
