What is the current state of the Multilingual Web of Data?
The Semantic Web is growing at a fast pace, recently boosted by the creation of the Linked Data initiative and principles. Methods, standards, techniques and the state of technology are becoming more mature and therefore are easing the task of publication and consumption of semantic information on the Web

Western Mediterranean wetlands bird species classification: evaluating small-footprint deep learning approaches on a new annotated dataset
The deployment of an expert system running over a wireless acoustic sensors
network made up of bioacoustic monitoring devices that recognise bird species
from their sounds would enable the automation of many tasks of ecological
value, including the analysis of bird population composition or the detection
of endangered species in areas of environmental interest. Endowing these
devices with accurate audio classification capabilities is possible thanks to
the latest advances in artificial intelligence, among which deep learning
techniques excel. However, a key issue to make bioacoustic devices affordable
is the use of small footprint deep neural networks that can be embedded in
resource and battery constrained hardware platforms. For this reason, this work
presents a critical comparative analysis between two heavy and large footprint
deep neural networks (VGG16 and ResNet50) and a lightweight alternative,
MobileNetV2. Our experimental results reveal that MobileNetV2 achieves an
average F1-score less than a 5\% lower than ResNet50 (0.789 vs. 0.834),
performing better than VGG16 with a footprint size nearly 40 times smaller.
Moreover, to compare the models, we have created and made public the Western
Mediterranean Wetland Birds dataset, consisting of 201.6 minutes and 5,795
audio excerpts of 20 endemic bird species of the Aiguamolls de l'Empord\`a

datos.bne.es and MARiMbA: an insight into Library Linked Data
Purpose – Linked data is gaining great interest in the cultural heritage domain as a new way for publishing, sharing and consuming data. The paper aims to provide a detailed method and MARiMbA a tool for publishing linked data out of library catalogues in the MARC 21 format, along with their application to the catalogue of the National Library of Spain in the datos.bne.es project.
Design/methodology/approach – First, the background of the case study is introduced. Second, the method and process of its application are described. Third, each of the activities and tasks are defined and a discussion of their application to the case study is provided.
Findings – The paper shows that the FRBR model can be applied to MARC 21 records following linked data best practices, librarians can successfully participate in the process of linked data generation following a systematic method, and data sources quality can be improved as a result of the process.
Originality/value – The paper proposes a detailed method for publishing and linking linked data from MARC 21 records, provides practical examples, and discusses the main issues found in the application to a real case. Also, it proposes the integration of a data curation activity and the participation of librarians in the linked data generation process
A new geometrical method for 3D evaluation of non-rigid registration methods for radiotherapy in prostate cancer
Three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy aims at delivering a high dose of radiation to the tumour, while sparing the surrounding normal tissue to a maximum extent. Image registration is an essential tool for monitoring radiation therapies, since allows morphological comparisons in presence of anatomic variations. The evaluation of non-rigid registration methods is very complicated owe to the absence of a known pointwise correspondence. The use of analysis of variations in target volume delineations has been proposed in the past for the evaluation of non-rigid registration methods. Delineation of the target volume is usually accomplished by outlining the contour of the volume in each separate tomographic slice. In the studies of reference, the 3D surface is rendered from the contours by means of a Delauney triangulation. This geometrical method only works correctly for convex structures. However the volumes involved on pelvic anatomy, such as bladder or prostate including the seminal vesicles, have relevant concavities that introduce a huge error in the evaluation. A new geometrical method for the evaluation of convex-concave target volumes delineation is proposed

Publishing Linked Data - There is no One-Size-Fits-All Formula
Publishing Linked Data is a process that involves several design decisions and technologies. Although some initial guidelines have been already provided by Linked Data publishers, these are still far from covering all the steps that are necessary (from data source selection to publication) or giving enough details about all these steps, technologies, intermediate products, etc. Furthermore, given the variety of data sources from which Linked Data can be generated, we believe that it is possible to have a single and unied method for publishing Linked Data, but we should rely on dierent techniques, technologies and tools for particular datasets of a given domain. In this paper we present a general method for publishing Linked Data and the application of the method to cover dierent sources from dierent domains
