This paper presents the main results obtained in the fieldwork related to Proto-Halaf to Late Halaf periods at Chagar Bazar by focusing on technological transfer in Neolithic societies. We discuss why manufacturing processes and information on shaping practices has been used by archaeologists to construct detailed typological and chronological schemes with an emphasis on morphological and volumetric uniformity

Effect of extraction conditions on obtaining pectin from agroindustrial coffee by-products

To present a proposal to reduce the waste generated in coffee agroindustrial production and explore potential applications of by-products, this study presents the effects of different physical factors (pH, temperature, and reflux time) on the extraction of pectin from coffee husks Coffea arabica, discarded in coffee farms of San Juan de Rioseco area after the desiccation process. The extraction is carried out by hydrolysis in an acidic medium using hydrochloric acid, precipitation by coagulation with 96% ethanol, filtration, and subsequent drying at 45 °C. Finally, the quality of the pectin obtained is evaluated by infrared spectrophotometry to determine the degree of esterification as well as the yield of the extractions carried out under different conditions. High methoxyl pectins, between 56% and 75% of esterification and yields that do not exceed 1% are obtained from wet material. An inverse temperature-degree of the esterification relationship and a direct time-yield relationship was found, according to an analysis of the main components and surface graphs, finding that the best extraction conditions are pH 2.0, temperature 90 ° C after 1 hour.  The results suggest that byproducts from the coffee agro-industrial process are a promising source of pectin

Changes in the lifestyle and feeding habits that could improve the planet and human health: the reproductive case

There is a link between food systems, environment, and human health. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations-FAO, food production from animal and plant origin, using unsustainable agricultural practices with the excessive use of fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides have adverse effects on the environment and could contaminate water sources and even the soil.1 Also, the production of food from animal origin is one of those responsible for the emission of greenhouse gases, fresh water expenditure, and soil loss. Therefore, with the current food consumption and unsustainable human practices, the future of humanity will be uncertain

Distinguishability notion based on Wootters statistical distance : Application to discrete maps

We study the distinguishability notion given by Wootters for states represented by probability density functions. This presents the particularity that it can also be used for defining a statistical distance in chaotic unidimensional maps. Based on that definition, we provide a metric d for an arbitrary discrete map. Moreover, from d, we associate a metric space with each invariant density of a given map, which results to be the set of all distinguished points when the number of iterations of the map tends to infinity. Also, we give a characterization of the wandering set of a map in terms of the metric d, which allows us to identify the dissipative regions in the phase space. We illustrate the results in the case of the logistic and the circle maps numerically and analytically, and we obtain d and the wandering set for some characteristic values of their parameters. Finally, an extension of the metric space associated for arbitrary probability distributions (not necessarily invariant densities) is given along with some consequences. The statistical properties of distributions given by histograms are characterized in terms of the cardinal of the associated metric space. For two conjugate variables, the uncertainty principle is expressed in terms of the diameters of the associated metric space with those variables.Instituto de Física La Plat
