The analysis of injection molding defects caused by gate vestiges

    Get PDF
Issues of product safety are the most serious problems of an injection molded product due to their risk to human health. Such a safety problem can be the needle-shaped vestige at the gate zone of injection molded products, called a gate vestige. Only observations of the formation of gate vestiges can be found in the literature, but the processing parameters influencing their dimensions, especially their height have not been studied yet. Our goal was to study the effect of various injection molding processing parameters and gate constructions on gate vestige formation

Trends in major lower limb amputations related to peripheral arterial disease in Hungary : A nationwide study (2004-2012)

ObjectivesTo assess the trends of peripheral arterial disease associated major lower limb amputation in Hungary over a 9 year period (2004–2012) in the whole Hungarian population.MethodsThis was a retrospective cohort study employing administrative health care data. Major amputations were identified in the entire Hungarian population during a 9 year period (2004–2012) using the health care administrative data. Direct standardization was used to eliminate the potential bias induced by the different age and sex structure of the compared populations. For external direct standardization, the ESP 2013 was chosen as reference.Results76,798 lower limb amputations were performed. The number of major amputations was 38,200; these procedures affected 32,084 patients. According to case detection, 50.4% of the amputees were diabetic. The overall primary amputation rate was 71.5%. The annual crude and age adjusted major amputation rates exhibited no significant long-term pattern over the observation period. The major lower limb amputation incidence for the overall period was 42.3/105 in the total population and 317.9/105 in diabetic population.ConclusionAccording to this whole population based study from Hungary, the incidence of lower limb major amputation is high with no change over the past 9 years. An explanation for this remains to be determined, as the traditional risk factors in Hungary do not account for it. The characteristics of major amputation (the rate of primary amputation, the ratio of below to above knee amputation and the age of the affected population) underline the importance of screening, early detection, improved vascular care and an optimal revascularization policy. Standardization and validation of amputation detection methods and reporting is essential

A barnamezős térség - ahol korábban elsősorban ipari tevékenység folyt - felméréseink szerint 68-70 km2-t foglal el Budapest közigazgatási területéből. Kutatásaink négy területre koncentrálódtak: bemutattuk az ipar mintegy 160 éves történetét, az ipari múlt örökségét (a környezeti szennyezettséget, az alacsony hatásfokú földhasználatot, a megüresedett területeket, a zavaros tulajdonviszonyokat, stb.), a korábbi funkciók spontán változásait (az új bevásárló központok, technológiai és ipari parkok megjelenését, az ipari műemlékek más célú - kulturális, lakás, stb. - felhasználását), és végül, a barnamezős területek rehabilitációjával foglalkozó, reménykeltő terveket. A barnamező megújítására irányuló erőfeszítések előtt hatalmas a kihívás. Mindazonáltal, ez a térség Budapest fejlesztésének fontos gazdasági tartaléka. | The brownfield belt of the Hungarian capital, where once large industrial production sites were located, comprises an area of 68-70 square kilometres. Our researches have been concentrated on four fields: to present the 160-year-long history of Budapest as an industrial city; the legacy of the industrial past (environmental pollution, the uneffected land use, empty areas, a messy ownership, etc.); the spontaneous changes of the former fuctions (appearence of new shopping centres, technological and industrial parks, industrial monuments used for cultural events, housing, etc.); and finally the promising plans that deal with the brownfields of Budapest. Any effort of brownfield rehabilitation in Budapest faces formidable challenges. However, this area could be promising for metropolitan development and become an important economic factor in the future

We report the discovery of a planet transiting a moderately bright (V = 12.00) G star, with an orbital period of 2.788491 +/-0.000025 days. From the transit light curve we determine that the radius of the planet is Rp = 1.257 +/- 0.053 RJup. HAT-P-5b has a mass of Mp = 1.06 +/- 0.11 MJup, similar to the average mass of previously-known transiting exoplanets, and a density of rho = 0.66 +/- 0.11 g cm^-3 . We find that the center of transit is Tc = 2,454,241.77663 +/- 0.00022 (HJD), and the total transit duration is 0.1217 +/- 0.0012 days.Comment: 5 pages, submitted to APJ
